If I die after attending a Judas Priest concert that would be a great way to go. Either that or after having sex with Jessica Simpson.

Yeah,I would'nt be suprised at all if all bands cancelled thier shows if it gets to a level 6 as you say. Lets hope that they get a hold on this flu man, what a pain in the ass to be a human being.

I hope not J.D.  but it all depends on the  flu right now..  and how the transmission cntinues to spread...

If they decided to call a level 6....  That could very well mean no travel,  depending on how they impliment the plan..
No air travel, no coming and going over boarders. no bus travel,   train ec..

I remember when I worked in the clinic.. they wanted people to come t work..  I thought yeah Like Iam going to show up in a medical facility, if they call a pandemic..    Get real...

I was working in a nursing home when the Norwalk virus was unleashed.. and they made all staff go and help clean up after all these sick people.. and yes I got it.. and so did everyone in my family..  NEVER again..

they threatend to fire the staff if we did not help.... I was like excuse me.. Iam a medical records person.. not a CNA.

Thats why I got of the medical world...  to many corporate assholes trying to take over health care.

Soo lets hope they can contain this..   if not depending on how long the level stays at 6.. depends on the travel ect..
I know they preff to cancell all  large public events, sports ect...  so my guess would be they wouldnt want people congrigating at concerts either.

--Yes, I am making a brief appearance on this site!--

Cannot wait for the July 3rd show here in MN, and I'll possibly be going to the July 17th show in northern MN, too with a friend...
I'd like to go to the July 18th Rock Fest show (where I first saw the Priest back in '04.. 'Twas my first concert, too!)

Hail to all you Heavy Metal maniacs out there, keep the Faith!

Finally the presale started :) Got my ticket for MA, NJ, NY, and now just waiting on CT and MD to go on sale!

I am there for British Steel.  I would not have been there for Nostradamus.

ahh sorry to hear that. I'm lucky to be in an area where I can hit up like 4 shows within a 200 mile radius and I plan on doing just that! Looks like they added some presale info on a couple of more dates. So I guess we'll see more dates being listed as the week goes by
[Head banger] Tuesday, April 14, 2009 9:20:36 PM
makes no difference to me, since the closest stops are 24 hours drive away!

Very strange how the tickets are going this tour. They started a presale on a few of the dates last week already, but have yet to even list other dates on livenation or ticketmaster for dates that come less than a week from the dates they started a presale for.

You mean its a sort of planned 'kidnap',  so they can come back to their managers in three days and say 'yeah, we got captured by this posse of ladies with whips and chain, and only broke out by distracting the guards with twinkies, wasn't it convenient that it coincided with our three day break?' and their manager will be like 'Oh how awful for you etc etc' and never suspect a thing.

Does anybody know if they're adding more dates?  There's a  3 day gap from July 4th, 5th, and 6th.    I would think they have to do Camden, NJ, and Mohegan sun.
But anyways,  I couldn't be happier that they're doing this kind of tour.  Taking a page out of Iron maiden and the somewhere back in time tour which did really well.  If they did the Nostradamous thing, i was gonna hit up one show, but the whole stage show thing isn't my thing.  Queensryche can pull it off because they do it with a classic album, but I don't know how well it would sell here.
[kiamat] Thursday, April 09, 2009 7:25:54 AM
I agree and its probably not limited to Oz- over here there seems to be an assumption that because the gigs always go ahead with decent crowd figures theres no need to promote and advertise- metalheads have become used to searching out gigs. The crowds might be a lot bigger if they tried to push the advertising but its like they can't be bothered. Those of us who are checking the back pages of the right magazines and the right websites will go but to anyone else the gigs might as well not be happening. Priest Feast was a case in point- they were booked for a bunch of arenas around the UK, but Manchester gets downgraded to a smaller venue. We have no less metal fans than Cardiff or Sheffield- so why a smaller vene? I was in Sheffield back in January and there were some advertisements, but Manchester had sod all. I spoke to some people afterwards and either they didn't know it had happened or they couldn't get tickets because the first thing they knew about the show was that it had been moved!  [Show/Hide Quoted Message] (Quoting Message by devils_child from Sunday, April 05, 2009 6:21:33 AM)

LOL  I'm sure many of us have done some crazy stuff drunk with JP in the background....... My brother and I were quite often in the front garden screaming the lyrics to many a JP tune at 3am on a Friday or Saturday... Only once did we have a neighbour complain.... after a bit of an arguement we invited him in for a beer..... He was cool with it after that... hahahhaa

As for JP tour management, yes they have done a very shitty job, the tour they did in here Australia only got a few late night commercials..... No posters in the city, no fliers NOTHING!!!! I only found out about the tour from my Mums metalhead friend from down south..... I went to my fave record shop in the city about a month before the gig... was buying some metal merch.... got talking about Priest.... the guy behind the counter didn't even know they were playng in OZ.... How bad is that!!!! And my Ex... major old school metal head.... had no freakin clue about the tour..................... Unless you had connections, or were a member of the ticket-tek website... OR had cable tv and stayed up late to watch headbangers ball you had no idea they were on tour!!!! Such a shame!!! Loads of people know who Priest are and will pay to see them,...... they just need to know when they are touring!!!!!!!!!! Better promo is sorely needed..... and yes us sinful gals would do an immense job at it..... All they need to do is let us know about the tour a few months in advance.

In the spirit to lighten things up a bit, here's a funny JP drunk story about myself from 8 years ago.

It's 2am and I was driving home in my green Monte Carlo from a hard night of drinking with the boys. I had to pee so I parked my car outside of my condo complex so I could relieve myself in the ditch. After peeing I realized I had locked myself out of my car so I walked to my condo, up three flights of stairs then off to bed. I awoke early the next morning with that sick feeling of "how the hell did I get home and where is my car?"  I remembered I had locked myself out and it was parked outside of the complex. So with bloodshot eyes and har standing strait up I walked downstairs to my hot neighbor's condo to ask if she would call AAA.

So there we are with AAA outside of my car, STILL RUNNING from the night before and JUDAS PRIEST's "Freewheel Burning" blazing away on volume 10!  ON REPEAT!   You got to love those repeat buttons on the car stereos. The AAA man jimmyed my door and truned off my car and stereo and said "so you like Judas Priest"?

Needless to say I was embarrassed and wanted to crawl in a hole.

Remember spapad, none uf us has played pro sports, yet we all comment on good and bad plays and so forth...because we are fans and we see what works and doesn't work...we know how the game should be played, though we don't actually play...this is just another form of entertainment...like a fan who buys a ticket and boo's when a player strikes out, we have that right to do so...same applies here, I think...

Yes it is easy to second guess.

My posting was based on an article on Ian Hill written about 6 months ago. in the article Ian says "it costs a fortune to make a cd" and "most bands don't have the back catalog that we have to support themselves". This lead me to conclude that they're watching their bottom-line.

Hate to step on anyone's toes but,

I've heard of "Armchair" Quarterbacks before,................But not "Armchair" Producers and Managers.

I dare say the band and their management, while we may not like said management, know alot more about the music business than we do.

Just my two cents worth.
[JayDee  Jepsen] Saturday, April 04, 2009 11:19:00 AM
I tend to agree that there is some contentment on the part of Priest, after all they have a huge back catalog of music that defines who they are and their accomplishments. However I have to believe they were really hoping for 'gold' glory again with Nostradamus.  IMO the problem is money. JP does a cost/benefit analysis on the cost to make and promote a cd VS potential cd sales and that determins where they think they need to "cut corners" to be profitable. So IMO they cheapen up the videos (ie AOR's  'Revolution' with music overdub existing footage & the cartoon 'War' video) then hire a friend producer (Roy Z ) who is ok but not top quality or do it yourself (KK/Glenn in Nostradamus & some of AOR).

You have to spend the money to make the money. If you spend little, you get little.  You can't blame management for everything because JP members are pushing 60 and after 35+ years in the business they know what to do - it's dollars & cents!   Eventhough sometime "commonsense" seems to exscape them.

I'm not sure they see it the same way we do...they're happy and content...outlasted most, no worries...we, as fans, seem to take things more personally (?) than they do...I also just think that we are tired of seeing lessor bands recieve more attention and accolades than our boys, and it pisses us off...even if they read our posts, what do we say amongst ourselves that they haven't heard before??...surely we're not the only ones to see this...

Reckless/Top Gun), and of course everything you posted...for what good has happend, there could (should) have been so much more!!!

JayDee and I ----- and others ------ feel that these decisions listed in JayDee's email have surpressed the success potential of this album.

Nostradamus has 10x the depth of Turbo! (both Turbo and Ram it Down were throw-away LPs for me. they had some ok songs but the musical effort was missing.

The thing that irks me is Priest talked about how proud they were of the Nostradamus cd(and they should be) however you would never know it by the lack of music video support for their  top 2-3 songs including what should have been the title track(Nos.) they spent a ton of time pre-pumping Nostradamus on the net but no video!??, then release "Visions" as the lead single (not Nostradamus??) and no video! Then they put out some half-ass cartoon video of "War' which wasn't even released as single- and non of these nor the other kick-ass songs where ever played on tour.(exception Proffecy).

JP has had a quality outside producer or music video since Painkiller ,some 18 years ago and the results are obvious. If you look at AC/DC, Metalica, Motley Crue etc... they all had good outside producers and quality videos to support their best songs and the results are ......again.....obvious!
[J.D. DIAMOND] Friday, April 03, 2009 3:54:43 PM
Thanks JayDee Jespen, but its hard not to "arm chair quarterback" the Nostradamus CD,but you are right...there has to be a time for each of us to simply "let it go"...but I'm not sure if I'm going to be one of thoses people because I'm still butt hurt and bent over the Turbo album 23 years ago!!! lol!

I don't post very many comments but I have to agree with JD D.  Judas Preist should have / could have trimmed Nostradamus down to a 1 cd without losing the feel and increasing the intensity of the cd. With downloading, people have short attention spans and aren't in to the 2 hour concept records like those in the '70's. I think if JP would have trimmed the songs and made some quality videos to support them, ie Nostradamus, Alone, etc.(note JP has not made a quality video since Painkiller) then we would have a much better JP masterpiece and sales would be better, but we know all about 20/20 vision.

The fact that JP has been this good and well recieved and chart topping for this long is amazing in and of itself. Many other bands like them are reduced to milking their 2-3 semi hit songs in dive bars around the world while JP still play is huge areas some 35+ years later!

I would be pleasantly surprised if JP made another studio cd but in the mean time; all of us should stop "arm chair quarterbacking" the JP Nostradamus cd or the 29-30 yr aniversery of British Steel and just go out there and rock out with them as much as we can before the FINAL CURTAIN CALL.

Does it really hold that many? I didnt know that... Ours here in Winnipeg holds maybe 4500. and the one in MN holds maybe 5000, they are usually smaller places ... which I dont mind.. the sound is usally better.

Smaller venues? You know most amphitheaters are actually pretty big right? The show I might be going to in Toronto is a 16,000 seater.

Really Judas Priest's Nostradamus is a well put together recording of an innovative and original craft and is something "different".But does 'different" mean that it is always going to be "better"?

In my books,no it does not.I think that Nostradamus is an "overkill".I mean really guys,...do we really want about 10 soft slow ballads on one Priest record?

If Angel Of Retribution had 10 songs on it just like "Angel" and only 1 or 2 songs on it like "Judas Rising"...then it would'nt be that great of an album for Judas Priest.I just can't understand why Nostradamus had to have 22 tracks and half of them are un-Priest-like-ballads? Why?

It is so boring to me that it took away from the over-all point to this album. I really think that the band "over-did-it".  Overkill is the word for this.

This album should not of been an actual Judas Priest album, and like I said before I think that the band should of put Judas Priest on hold and named this band/project of 2008 "Nostradamus" instead of Judas Priest. This would'nt make me like the album any better, but it would of made me feel better knowing that "this is not a Judas Priest album" I could of told myself. But now,it is what it is obviously.

In my opinion....The band must return into the studio and create a masterpiece that reeks of "Judas Priest" in every way shape and form.We really need a classic British metal album from them before they retire and hang up the leathers guys.

I dont think they will play that long.. they are playing small venues this time around.. ( amp-theaters ) ect.. I dont thin they will play a full fledged set this around, or at least not as long as the last tour...  HOPEFULLY they do.. that would be great....  Iam going to see Ac/DC this summer...  if they come here around the same time as priest is supposed to be in MN .. Iam going to see Ac/Dc instead of priest.. I have not gotten the chance to see the Ac/Dc boys live yet..

Do they offer the meet and greet for every show ?  I hope they play the same songs they played back in 1980 . Sinner , The Ripper , Genocide, Tyrant , Runnibg Wild, Beyond The Realms and the entire BS Album !!!!! I will be there in Cleveland Rockin in the summer HEAT !!!
[Bazookajoe_666] Friday, March 27, 2009 12:42:35 PM
Keep in mind that British Steel is only 35 minutes long. That leaves about another hour and 20 minutes or so for more songs. There's definitly gonna be more then 17 songs.

I dont think they would have gotten on mainstream radio no mater what the album or singles were like.  I think they took the chance that revolution was different enough it might get on there.  heard it a few times on local FM.  never heard worth fighting for.  I like that song actualy.  Angel or wheels of fire might have made the airwaves, I doubt judas Rising would.  leastways not here.  but any real metal is always a sideline, of something the DJ sneeks in when the boss isnt listening on most FM.

AOR was grossly unpromoted. They promoted Revolution and Worth Fighting For which quite frankly say nobody cares about as metal songs. They should have put Judas Rising out as a go-for-the-throat-return-of-priest kinda song, and put Angel out as another great ballad, and Wheels Of Fire as a very radio friendly tune.  Talk about Nostradamus...they promoted War which although being a nice song, isn't what you'd want promoted for 'Priest. Should have done a music video for Death. Still...I hold thumbs up for hearing Wheels Of Fire live at some point. Same goes for One Shot At Glory.   [Show/Hide Quoted Message] (Quoting Message by J.D. DIAMOND from Friday, March 27, 2009 4:11:54 AM)

They should consider replacing The Green Manalishi with Wheels Of Fire. Much the same as they replaced Diamonds And Rust with Angel. Their own version of a song of same category and similar style as such will always kick more ass. What I find grossly unjust is...TGM is a cover and has been played out so much, whereas WOF being a 'Priest tune has gotten virtually no attention...neither in promotion, nor in concerts. *Crosses my fingers for this to be played*

Yes Cobra...Wheel Of Fire is a classic that gets no credit...but "Heading Out To The Highway" is an awsome song that is every bit as worthy as Wheels Of Fire!!!  Heading Out To The Highway is what got me into Judas Priest back in 1981!!
When I saw this video,it changed my entire musical outlook for sure!!

Hot Rockin' is awsome too!!   But if you are talking about "On The Run" from Point Of Entry and how Wheel Of Fire is much better, than I agree!!  Desert Plains is an absolute Priest classic that stands the test of time as well as Wheels Of Fire.

I'm glad they shelved Nostradamus from playing it live, this is not what Judas Priest is all about anyways, yes Nostradamus is a well put together record,ect..a masterpiece of originality and very innovative, but really its not Judas Priest and its not what they do best.

I hope by playing British Steel live, they get back into that frame of mind of writting classic stylled Judas Priest songs like Angel Of Retribution's "Judas Rising"....Deal With The Devil....Demonizer,Wheel Of Fire...Hellrider...elegy...ect...these are examples of real Judas Priest classics and this is what the band needs to be thinking about when writting the next LP.
[metalmaz] Wednesday, March 25, 2009 4:18:56 PM
Yes. So much for all that waxing lyrical about playing the whole album!

They did very few songs from it on tour.

Now the "evening with Nostradamus" has been shelved and Priest will be playing an album recorded 28 years ago!

British Steel is far superior, but I think it would be far better for them to do an eclectic setlist with some of the less played gems. There are so many after all

Question is...what will be the remaining songs in the setlist? Of course we will get songs like Electric Eye, Angel, Death, Painkiller, Hell Bent For Leather and You've Got Another Thing Comin' because they are must-play songs. But that still leaves room for another 2-4 songs in the list if they play a setlist of about 17 songs or slightly more. I'm putting my hopes out to One Shot At Glory, All Guns Blazing, Metal Meltdown, Judas Rising, Demonizer or anything else fast and furious from THIS lineup. Maybe even Nostradamus song.

But anyway...

Is anyone going to see Priest play British Steel in Toronto at the Molson Amphitheater on July 9th??????

I might possibly be going to see them on this and would love to meet anyone from the boards if there attending. I know some people from the Q are going as well.

C'mon folks, we all know why they aren't doing a "Nostradamus" Tour. IN addition to few people who would go to an exclusively all Nostrofest concert w/o a few
old hits, the economy sucks and it is nearly 30 years since British Steel was released. As far as I was concerned seeing them this past summer, Metal Gods was a highlight as Halford gave a vintage high note on "slaves". Would really like to hear him sing Rapid Fire since the last time I heard them do that one was with Tim Owens. Hearing the Rage done live sounds good too!!!  Crue are doing a "Dr. Feelgood" in its entirety tour too for Cruefest and hey , why not? Bob Rock didn't ruin their sound like he did to Metalllica! British steel was their 1st gold  studio album in the states and hey, it will sell some tickets. I actually like David Coverdale and hope he opens with Purple's "Burn" as he still can sing most of his older rep too! OK later, Kurt
[scorpion01] Tuesday, March 24, 2009 12:45:49 PM

IF THEY ARE NOT GOING TO PLAY A FULL NOSTRADAMUS SET, I HOPE THEY ADD MORE SONGS FROM THE ALBUM TO THE SET LIST.

[jimmyjames] Tuesday, March 24, 2009 5:34:41 AM

I have to say that Living After Midnight and United are very irritating songs but hearing the rest of British Steel live would be wicked. The reason the Nostradamus tour has been "postponed" ( read that as cancelled ) is because Priest have pulled their heads out of their asses and come to terms with the fact that nobody is all that interested in hearing it in it's entirety. Except maybe the kind of wackos who listen to the bloody thing every day.

[Maple Syrup] Wednesday, March 18, 2009 11:32:09 AM
wouldnt it be great if they left out Breakin the Law & Living after Midnight from the setlist?

Same article..

British heavy metal legends JUDAS PRIEST will celebrate the 30th anniversary of their classic 1980 album "British Steel" by embarking on a special tour next year featuring a performance of that LP in its entirety. This information was revealed by the band's guitarists, K.K. Downing and Glenn Tipton, during an interview they gave to the Spanish web site Rafabasa.com yesterday (Sunday, March 15) prior to the Madrid concert on JUDAS PRIEST's "Priest Feast" tour. In addition, Tipton told Rafabasa.com that a planned "Nostradamus" tour with material exclusively from that album (featuring a full theatrical production) will now likely be postponed until a later date.

Now I can go see them because there was no way I was wasting money to see Nostradamus performed in its entirety.

I don't think Maiden recreating the World Slavery Tour was a bad thing.   Got to hear some tunes that you wouldn't normally hear at a Maiden show (Moonchild and Rime).   Plus, I think as a band gets older their creative license to do whatever they want is a lot broader.   Fuck it, if they wanna play all of British Steel in 2010 and sprinkle in some of their other songs, then it's their perrogative.  I'll see them irregardless and enjoy myself just as much.
