I have seen Motorhead some five times in small and large venues and I can confirm. They are as loud and heavy as they get.

I have not had the pleasure of seeing (hearing) Motorhead live so I can only tell you what I know. I am sure that audio technology has come a LOOOOOONG way in 40 years so I would guess that you are right.

OMFG they were LOUD man,and belive me I've heard loud shows before but, fucking AAAA!!!!  God damn they were LOUD and CLEAR TOO!!!  The decible level crushes whatever level the Who were playing at in 68' because I've read articles about this very thing and man,Lemmy is NUTS!! Loudest band, definitely Motorhead! i paid a buck for ear plugs at Blossom Music Center, with pavillion seats!  Best band, no question, JUDAS PRIEST!!!  Maiden also a great band!
[HOT ROCKIN' METAL GODDESS] Sunday, November 29, 2009 2:47:32 PM
ABSOLUTELY Motorhead is THE LOUDEST show I've ever seen. I normally don't put in earplugs, but DAMN! I had to save my ears for Heaven and Hell and the MIGHTY PRIEST! Those boys know how to kick ass on stage

I like Seventh Son too,but I don't like Somewhere In Time except for a couple of songs(2) like you,and yeah they got soft after Powerslave. And MUSICGIRL....this thread wasn't who we like better,it is "who is harder"?? And I've seen Iron Maiden live 3 times and just saw Motorhead live in October for the first time, and I can definately tell you that "MOTORHEAD" is "harder"!!!!!!  This was the LOUDEST fucking show I have EVER seen!!!! Any louder and my ears would literately be bleeding,so to say Maiden is harder is unvalid,so I'm not saying that you should like Motorhead better rather than admitting that Motorhead are "harder"!!! lol! These guys are so loud its unreal!!!!! lol!

Now THAT is a statement I'll back 100%. Powerslave is a gem, I CHERISH Seventh Son, I still like some songs off of Somewhere in Time but they dropped the ball afterwards if you ask me....and I was on stage with them during Fear of the Dark. They had us on during the Clairvoyant? How do you spice up a dud like that by pretending people rushed the stage?!

At least it wasn't "Take your Daughter to the Slaughter!" LOL.

You may be right J.D. Diamond, Motorhead is harder but I still enjoy Maiden best because I know more of their music. But I would not be against seeing Motorhead live. I quess that would help make an informed decision.
[J.D. DIAMOND] Saturday, November 28, 2009 2:53:15 PM
HAHAHA you are very hilarious hehehe as if Iron Maiden could possibly be "harder" than Motorhead(lomfl!!) Obviously you have NEVER SEEN MOTORHEAD LIVE or you wouldn't be posting such nonsense!! HAHA!! There is no band in the world that is louder than Motorhead and Maiden don't come close to being "harder" than Motorhead.

As the member who created this thread ("livethemetal") said: who's harder? Maiden or Motorhead? Its gotta be Motorhead....
After the panzer division assult  rolled through Seattle on Friday night thats called "MOTORHEAD"....I can back his statement up

1,000%!!!!!!!!!   For god's sake if anybody ever wonders about this question....Motorhead are definately "harder" and louder than Maiden.

Not a choice question for me. I can enjoy both. But (joking) the day Lemmy Kilmeister dies, they will tour his dead body around the world. There will be massive funeral processions by biker gangs and grieving fandom everywhere. Tattoos with RIP Lemmy in Goth lettering by the thousands, every band ever known to mankind will pay tribute...it will be a massive event for decades to come.

HARD CHOICE SO WONT MAKE ONE !

I have to say Iron Maiden. They have a lot more variations and are tighter and more "metallish".

I also love Motörhead, but Maiden is so much more music for me!
