I don't think Trujillos made a scrap of difference to Metallica. The best album he's played on is Suicidals Lights Camera. The thing that cracks me up about Metallic**t is that for years they picked on Newsted and marginalised him until he quit and he was the most "metal" guy in the band. Now they are trying to get back to the metal ( now that it's fashionable again ) and the only guy in the band who never lost sight of it is gone.

What else has Trujillo done of note apart from Suicidal, Infectious Grooves, some shit Ozzy stuff and some shit Metallica stuff? Anything worth checking out?

Yeah I only like Metallica's first 3 studio albums obviously Kill Em' All,Ride The Lightning and Master Of Puppets....bought the last two when they came out in 84' and 86' but everything after that I can't stand at all.I was bummed out when Justice came out and hated the Black album. To me mustain's voice is irritating but I can see why people like him,the music is not bad ect...its just not my thing,I can also understand why people hate King Diamond(lol!) because his voice is probly more irritating than Mustain's is haha I can understand that and I'm sure Guido would back me up on that one lol! HA ha I do like some of King Diamond's stuff though,not all of it but some of it don't ask me why! lol!

And your not being a "fanboy" by liking Ozzy's stuff,even if you like every album wich I know you don't but even if you did I'm sure you'd have opinions of songs throughout those albums like there would be songs you like the majority of an album and you would list the songs you didn't care for unlike that shitty "Brain Evans"(the one who stole the name from the other Brian)who can't and will not say that one Maiden song is poor,now thats "fanboyism".

I think Master Of Puppets was the last killer album by Metallica. Justice For All and the Black Album were listenable, but definitely not killer. Everything went downhill after Master Of Puppets. 

I can definitely understand why someone doesn't like Mustaine's voice. You either love his voice or you hate it.

Same thing about the Ultimate Sin. Quite a few people don't like it. Ozzy himself has stated many times that he absolutely hates that album. Don't ask me why, but I really dig it. Maybe it's utter fanboyism, because I absolutely adore everything Ozzy released between 1980 and 1992.

Yeah Master Of Puppets was cool I'll give you that. I was disappointed with Judas Priest's Turbo,Iron Maiden's Somewhere In time,Venom's Calm Before The Storm promo,Celtic Frost's Into The Pandemoium promo, but yeah there was Master Of Puppets,King Diamond's Fatal Portrait albums were good...maybe 1986 wasn't as bad as I was making it out to be...I mainly said that because of Turbo and Somewhere In time...both major letdowns. But The Ultimate Sin? LOL! In my opinion it blows Craig! lol! I'm glad you enjoy that record no worries lol!

Nobody said you had to like Iron Maiden, if you don't good for you, don't knock what other people like. It's just a sign of immaturity. Iron Maiden must be doing something right to sell out all over the world, all throughout Canada and the states, something JP hasn't done in a long time. Judas priest always trying something new? the last time they went off the deep end with an album like Nostradamus was with Turbo, they lost a great number of fans there when they did that. I couldn't "dis-agree" with you more.  Iron Maiden "SUCKS" and they have since  the 1986 "Somewhere In Time" album till now,they really haven't even come close to a killer album such as Powerslave. The best thing Iron Maiden has done since Powerslave is 1988 "Seventh Son Of A Seventh Son" wich wasn't as good as Powerslave but better than anything they have done since. 

Judas Priest hasn't set the world on fire either I know,but 2005's Angel Of Retribution" kicks Iron Maiden's ass so far up between thier shoulders its not even fucking funny. The entire 1990's Iron Maiden albums(4) suck big time and the 3 albums they did in the 00's are not that great,better than the 90's albums but nowhere close to 2005 Angel Of Retribution from Judas Priest. 

That Brave New World album only has like 4 or maybe 5 songs top on it that are even good,the rest sucks big time. 2003 Dance Of Death is the worst pile of shit that Bruce has been a part of in Iron Maiden,just a horrible lame boring shit song orienated album I've ever heard YUK.
 
2006 A Matter Of life And Death was the best thing Maiden has done since 1988's Seventh Son album,but Seventh Son is better. Those 2 tracks that they made into video's "Different World" and "Benjamin Bragg" are 2 of Iron Maiden's worst songs ever recorded with Bruce,but the rest of the album is good,just nowhere near as good as the material on Angel Of Retribution(except for the last song Lockness). 

Your entitled to your opinion but I have to say that I and many many other Iron Maiden fans are terribly disappointed with Iron Maiden's poor song writting the last 26 years...from Somewhere In Time to now Iron Maiden is overrated and boring. At least Priest has 1990's Painkiller,1997 Jugulator(wich beats the shit out of any Blaze Baily album)and 2005's Angel Of Retribution,Maiden doesn't have anything killer since 1984's Powerslave album,and that "SUCKS".
 
I reckon this new Maiden album will suck too,I can't fathom them doing anything brilliant now,they just don't have it in them.This next Judas Priest album I'll bet will blow the fuck out of this next Maiden album I can almost guarantee it.

Iron Maiden is the #2 biggest overrated band in the world with Shittalica being #1.

Priest are ALWAYS trying different things, they always have. For example, in the late 70s we got the dark themes and heavy metal masterclass that is Stained Class, and then we got the more accessible Killing Machine/Hell Bent For Leather. 1986 brought along Turbo, which was much more light hearted than the previous two albums (and for many people a major WTF moment) - Ram It Down elevated things a bit more, then came the mighty Painkiller - so much harder than anything Priest had done before. If there's one thing Priest fans know, it's that no two Priest albums ever sound the same. Nostradamus came with fair warning about the type of album it was, and for some people its a masterpiece, for others they are happy to leave it on the shelf. AC/DC are a cool band, they have never deviated from what they are. They sit in a type of rock music that is so easily accessible, that of course you will get all ages at their gigs, cos anyone can easily listen to their music and know exactly what to expect. Iron Maiden are also cool, but for me there's only so much epic-ness I can take in music - the 10 minute long songs they've come out with in recent times I find to be boring and self indulgent. They have deviated their music, just not in the same way Priest have.

Too bad JP decided that they had to deviate from their format and style that they have had all along.  To try to appeal to a different crowd and different generation by altering your sound is ridiculous.  Bands such as AC/DC, Iron Maiden and the likes haven't done this and I see all sorts of generations of fans coming to their concerts, what made JP think that the younger generation wasn't listening to them?

All I know is I couldn't stand Nostradamus, I was a long time fan, in fact for 32 years I followed JP faithfully, now I have a hard time listening.  Iron Maiden is coming out with a new album this summer, I can hardly wait! The concert, a prequel to the album is due to hit Edmonton, AB this June.  I never thought I'd say it, but I think Maiden has usurped JP for me this year, and the past couple of years....

I know what your talking about when bands go mainstream too,Darkthrone didn't go mainstream but they altered and totally changed thier style since the last album 'Dark Thrones And Black Flags" from 2008. So much to the point that its not Darkthrone anymore.

Judas Priest did this to me with Nostradamus too,I know there are those who like it,but to me its not "Judas Priest" at all,its the members of Judas Priest doing another style of music alltogether.This is what Darkthrone has become and its "SAD" to tell you the truth.I wasn't really "thrilled" with the new Immortal album but at least they didn't go overboard with it,it still sounds like Immortal but just not to my likings,the album is ok but its not one of Immortal's best records.

Maybe the next one will be better.As for Darkthrone,thier set on this new style and sound so I've dug a hole and buried them as of today,I don't think they will go back to their kick ass sound and style,I believe they are finished. The best album that has recently come out(Feb.2009) is the new "ABSU" album self titled.This new album is absolutely excellent.  

But yeah I do hate it when bands drop thier sound and style jump ship and go in another direction. I'm not one of these people that trick themselves into liking something like.."oh give it another try/listen in a couple months it might grow on you"...it doesn't work for me,either I like it or hate it first listen,like Nostradamus album...the day I heard the whole album I instantly hated it,and still do,maybe even more now. Same will be this new Darkthrone album,I will never like it. Oh well,as I said I still have the great new Absu album to hold me over untill the next great record I hear...hopefully it will be a Judas Priest album!!

Well,I just heard the entire album "Circle The Wagons" (2010) by one of my long-time fav.bands "Darkthrone" and sadly I have to say and admit that it is the worst Darkthrone album to date!! I know that Nocturno and Fenriz diviate from the rest of the wanna-be black metal scene and changing styles is what they are about these days but fuckin a,what I'm hearing is anything but 'Darkthrone".

They call thier new style black heavy metal punk but it doesn't sound anything like it.Thier last 2 albums 2008 Dark Thrones And Black Flags and 2007's "F.O.A.D." sounded like black heavy metal punk but this new album is ridiculous in my ears,the "singing" is absolutely horrible and too un-Darkthrone-like.

 I think they have gone too far the other way.I was really looking forwards to this new release only to discover this once great band is now 'dead". (SIGH).  So much for one of my favorite bands,not any more.

I visit this board only once every two or three months. I always read and I never post messages or join discussions when I'm around, but this one time I feel the urge to make a statement. 

I would like to say to the membership of this site that I'm not allied with the individual who hijacked my name and created that Iron Maiden thread. I've been under the radar for years now, so why this individual decided to create an account that bears my name and use it to cause trouble in here is beyond me. Hell, I don't care why he's doing it, I just want you all to know that he's an impersonator. Compare our profiles for proof. It's needless to say that I'm not thrilled with this situation.

I read some of his posts and I do not believe for one second that this guy is a serious Iron Maiden fan. He's faking it. He's an attention whore who is constantly trying to get a rise out of people. You should stop feeding this troll.

I am ticked and had to give my hopes up about a recent tour announcement. "The Gruesome Twosome Tour" of Alice Cooper and Rob Zombie only has 7 dates for North America, primarily in Canada. The initial announcement sounded like a full blown North America tour but they call it "an exclusive limited run" North American Tour starting April 26 to May 4. Rob Zombie would be alright but I really want to see Alice Cooper again. *sigh* Oh well, I have plenty of other choices anyway for concerts.

Yeah I never could get into Obituary,Canible Corpse,Napalm Death,the band "Death",Suffocation,Immolation...ect...the only bands I really liked back then were Deicide and Morbid Angel because they were more satanic and thier image was more aesthetics of metal.Today I can't get into death metal like Behemoth...they are too clean for death metal and the songs are just boring to me.The old Morbid Angel like the first album 1989 Alters Of Madness and Deicide's first 3 albums they all had a groove to them in the songs mixed with very extreme headbanging territory but they had riffs and shit you could hear.

With all this bap bap bap bap bap bap bap bap bap roooarrooarawwroawwrao bap bap bap bap going on every second of every minute of every song is just a fuckin boaring concept,sure there are a few exceptional albums that are very repetitive but those are elite albums at a time where nothing like that had ever been done before like 1994 Darkthrone's Transilvanian Hunger as an example but for all these bands to be doing nothing but blah blah blah bap bap bap all the time is not "extreme" anymore as it is anoying,the new bands should let the original bands do thier thing and they should do something different but still in the same genre ect...

Make no mistake about it,Persecution Mania is elite,excellent and anything but boring and samey,this album alone influenced Sepultura to harken a change in style as is obviously heard in 1989's Beneath The Remains and 1991's Arise...big time these albums were influenced by listening to Sodom's Persecution Mania. All of Sodom's albums are not good,but Persecution Mania and Agent Orange are excellent,Tapping The Vien 1992 is also a great album I've had for years.

Here is Onslaught "Power From Hell" 1985the first album....everything after this album is lame because they changed members in the band and ect...but this debut album I still have on LP that I bought in 1985 when it was brand new and on the back it says "Death Metal At It's Heaviest". I look back on this album now and think wow this was real death metal,and they had spikes,black leather jackets,chains,studs,boots..ect..total fuckin metal not just sweat pants jogging sweats with a t-shirt up on stage boring the crowd,back then the underground of death metal and black metal used to support true metal aesthetics unlike today,a few still support it but half of them don't and I think it "SUCKS".

Sodom are thrash but they are a black thrash in my eyes and hell yeah Agent Orange 1989 is fuckin killer and thier best is 1987 debut album "Persecution Mania" in my opinion that album is fuckin awsome also includes a top notch version of Iron Fist from Motorhead!

I hear what you're saying. I guess I just have a bit more flexibility than most and usually aren't bothered by it that much unless it becomes obvious/blatant. I have been really trying to look back for some old albums from varying bands to just feel what it was like back in the 80s and early 90s. Quite frankly I am LOVING IT! 

If only they would get my copy of Agent Orange by Sodom ON TIME I wouldn't be in a slightly sour mood myself. Amazon is great, except when it comes to ordering imports cause that's when the delays happen more often than not for me. That's what is really ticking me off really right now, back to the subject of the thread.

Well,I was there in the beginning of death metal and to be honest I don't consider "In Flames" a true real death metal band.I think Suffocation is death metal but this is why I don't like "death metal" because it used to be more like "black metal" in the early days.Nowadays death metal is plain short sleeve shirts with eh just wear just about anything and get up there and growl? Its just not the same as it once was.It used to be hidden and about not doing fucking videos! I only own a handful of death metal albums and the rest are black metal,heavy metal,thrash metal but only the old-school "elite" black metal albums and cds,not the new trendy shit. 

Black metal is not what it used to be either as I was there in the beginning of black metal as well,Venom,Mercyful Fate,Bathory,Hellhammer,Celtic Frost,Sarcafago,Mayhem,Mortuary Drape...all in the 1980's and then with Mayhem's norwegian scene with Darkthrone,Immortal,Emperor,Gorgoroth,Carpathian Forest,Mutiilation,Abigor,Judas Iscariot...bands like this were true black metal until the scene was ruined with kids who were obsessed with wearing corpse paint like it was halloween or some shit like that.

The internet is what really killed black metal because it was a portal for unworthy kids to try and fit in with this genre of something they were never a part of,I watched it all and watched it all crumble down to mainstream crap of today and it makes me sick. Bands like "Behemoth" used to be elite black metal as I still have  Sventivith Storming Near The Baltic  from 1995 and claim it as Behemoth's best album yet every time I mention this killer record to somebody who likes Behemoth they never even knew it existed? Its a joke to say the least and I've grown tired of it.Fuck off to "death metal" and the trendy commercial black metal scene as well.

I understand quite well about these things. Honestly I like a lot of the old school and newer death metal bands but the latter only a select few. I like Death, early In Flames, Suffocation and some bands like that. But I really love Amon Amarth because they are really well done music wise and though they have some commercial ties but at least they are awesome IMO. Here's something that fucks me right off. Hidden bonus tracks on cds. What the fuck is the point? If the songs good just put it on the album, if it's not why the fuck is it on there. It's even worse when you have to listen to 10 minutes of slience just to hear the band fucking around in the studio like some kind of lame in joke. Classic examples include Mastodons Blood Mountain album which has a long period of silence followed by Josh Homme from QOTSA talking shit and Marilyn Mansons Antichrist Superstar which has 99 tracks, 16 of which are songs, then there are 82 tracks which consist of 4 seconds of silence each and then a minute and a half of static and stupid voices at the end. This practice is retarded and perpetrators should be burned alive. Bastards.

You can't take what Chris Jericho says seriously, he's a showman himself. They just brought him in to be outspoken and add a bit of flavour to an otherwise boring conversation. Hell yes, they are terribly underrated. People always move towards Maiden cos they're more well known and out in the media more often. I think it's a matter of personal preference more often than not - we prefer Rob by miles, some people prefer Bruce.
LOL I've been having a debate on youtube (that video below actually) with a dude about Halford and Dickinson - he says Dickinson is more influential cos more people copy his style, er whatever lol. He reckons Geoff Tate and Axl Rose were influenced by Dickinson, I said actually Queensryche in one form or another have been around for the same length of time as Maiden, so I'd say Tate fell in to that style of singing on his own, and Axl is just Axl, you hear him and think Axl, not oh he was influenced by so and so. Personally, I think Halford and Dickinson are so difficult to emulate, people rarely seriously try LOL!

I love Bruce too and OLD Iron Maiden, don't get me wrong. But comparing Bruce and Rob to each other, I just don't understand how anyone can think Bruce is better. But they always say the same thing - Bruce is a better performer. Well, I guess that is a matter of opinion. I much prefer Rob's stage presence. When he walks out on stage, I don't know, something just happens to the audience. People often forget that Rob actually sings. He is so well known for his incredible screams, but they forget that he can sing! It really bugs me. When I listen to Priest, every song has a different flavor because Rob changes his voice. I never get bored listening to Priest. But once again,  Priest and everyone in it is under rated and that is what pisses me off the most!

Good point HRMG, Rob has shown great variety in the way he sings, Bruce does sound pretty much the same - nothing wrong with that, but I love the variety Rob brings to the plate. LOL I was just watching another clip from the same show and Jericho is trying to say Helter Skelter by the Beatles is the first heavy metal song ever. Um, what? LMAO!

Yes Jericho is a dipshit that should stick to wrestling! I loved how everyone else said that they didn't want their lead singer jumping around like that!! No shit, but then again, if your lead guitarists play solos for 3 minutes during a song, what else are you gonna do? He'd be bored stiff if he didn't do SOMETHING during that! Rob is THE MAN and always will be. Just compare Bruce's vocals to Rob's in "The One You Love To Hate". Bruce's voice is just lost on that song compared to Rob and it isn't because they upped Rob's mike. Rob has a tone to his voice that just rises above everything else. Bruce sounds the same on every damn song he has ever sung. I've never understood how anyone could think that Bruce is a better vocalist when Rob can change his voice to match the song. Everyone talks about Rob's "screams" - yes they are INCREDIBLE, but he can SING anything and everything! Bruce can not. And let's not even talk about song writing.... Rob is THE METAL GOD for a reason!

Yes that is great news Hellrider that the Priest don't plan on retiring for a long time,I may be wrong when I said I might think that the next studio album may be thier last,but they still are terribly slow at releasing material!!! Theres no reason why the new album shouldn't be ready by January 2010,if they get busy right now this may happen,but if they drop the Nostradamus tour bomb on us,we are fucked man because that new record will not see the light of day untill 2012 and no earlier than that for sure so lets hope they bag the Nostradamus tour idea!!!!  

And Becks,yeah that Jericho dude is a joke man,he was more talking about Bruce jumping around on stage more than he was talking about comparing vocals,that guy is a Maiden fanboy! lol!! Whats funny is that the other 3 dudes were hailing Rob as the best wich he obviously IS!!! I like Iron Maiden and Bruce Dickinson but to me they will never top Rob Halford and Judas Priest,it just can't happen,won't happen....couldn't happen and as to the 2 band's song writting...Priest blows Maiden out of the water its not even a close call.

Ok this isn't so much pissing me off as making me roll my eyes a bit, lol. Here is a segment of That Metal Show, a little bit in to the clip they do their 2 minute throwdown of the best metal vocalis - Halford or Dickinson. Whoever this Chris Jericho dude is, he's a dick. He has a point about Dickinsons showmanship, but he only mentions his actual singing once (saying he's the most influential metal singer ever - um NO, one of, but not the). Chris Jericho is a knob, hails Rob Halford! LOL!
