Well,I am a Cowboy fan too,I've liked them since Aikman & co. were "1 -15"   2 years before they won the Super Bowl. But lets face it,Minnesota were just a better team last year and Romo kept making poor throws out there. If your up against a better team you know that you can't make ANY mistakes at all,if you do you lose and thats what happened to Dallas last year.I'm not sure what to think about them right now,but I guess we'll see after 8 games half way through the season.

I didn't realize how much Sidney Rice means to Favre, man without that one guy Favre seems lost. The problem is that they still had Harvin out there and he and Favre were out of rhythm, thats odd.   0 -1 isn't time to panic but if they lose to Miami the week after sunday then its time to panic. Same with Dallas,if they lose to Washington Sunday no need to panic but they have got to win the next game.Nobnody wants to start at 0-2 because that 3rd game will either start to dig you out of a hole or seal your season.

I'm not being too harsh. I'll admit he's worthy of coming back one more time,
I just hate him. I like the Cowboys so I didn't like him in Green Bay either. No disrespect
to the man, I just hate him. After last years playoff game and some of the cooments he made
afterward makes me want to see Dallas do to him what the Saints did to him last year.

Of course I am going to agree with you J.D. I love Brett Favre. So much so, I take crap from everyone at work (see I live in Wisconsin). I don't blame the loss entirely on him but him not showing up to camp really showed yesterday. Last year, it wasn't an issue but this year it affected the team. The guys just seemed out of sinc. I do understand he has the ankle issue but....   Hopefully they will come together soon and things will work out. I will be cheering for them.

Budred: I also have Brett's rookie card. I would hang on to that if i were you.

LOL! Oh,I think your being to harsh on Favre Budred,I "was" even sick and tired of the media's "drama" with the "offseason" Favre bullshit, but it wasn't Favre's fault at all. Look who the vikings have for back up QB: "Tavaris Jackson". You think "Tavaris Jackson" could of beat the Saints last night? HAHAHA! Fuck of course not!

The smartest thing the Vikings have done is getting Brett Favre for one last season.Favre said before the season started that they may not beat the Saints in the season opener and if they don't they all go down swinging together, yet when they lose the media blames Favre and it looks like he is swinging all by himself . He even said that there are no guarantees that the Vikings will make it to the NFC Championship game, every season is different but since they were so close last season it would of been stupid of Favre to retire this year,at least he is giving it one more shot. Like him or hate him,Favre is good,he is overrated yes and he is not the best QB no,but this guy is very good and much much better than Tavaris Jackson.

[Budred] Friday, September 10, 2010 8:18:56 AM
O.K., I don't want Brett Favre to get his neck snapped but I really do hope they get some shots at
him. Honestly, I don't see him holding up very long. He's still struggling from last year, he'll
never catch up this year. I have a rookie Favre card, anyone want to buy it?(LOL) Best offer gets it.

Advice to Brett!!! Give up now. Blame the ankle, you can still go out with dignity that way. People will buy it.(LOL)

I think Dallas and Minnesota play this year. I hope Favre lasts that long at least.
After his little celebration last year I would love to watch the Cowboys snap his neck,
(or at least his ankle). I saw the pictures of him after the Saints game last year.
I couldn't help but smile and wish evil things on him. I hope Dallas leaves bruises like
that on his whole body.

Though I love Brett, it was quite apparent tonight that he should have tried to attend at least pre-season games let alone training camp. I love him, I hope they have a great season. Tonight was close but mistake were quite obvious on both sides.

[J.D. DIAMOND] Thursday, September 09, 2010 2:10:20 AM
NFL begins today: Vikings at Saints, even with the return of Favre I think the Saints are too good to lose at home,so I'm betting on the Saints to win this game.Vikings will have to go 0-1 and then build all season long to try and end up with a better record than New Orleans for hopes of home field advantage. But going 0-1 isn't going to be easy, they would have to win the next 15 games to try and beat out the Saints for home field advantage. I'm not sure if the Vikings can make it to the NFC Championship game from 0-1 but we'll see.
[Mr. Dave Genocide] Wednesday, August 04, 2010 7:43:35 AM
Being from Minnesota... Vikes can't afford to go on with Jackson, no one here can stand him. (And Childress as coach is a big No-No also...)  All of us here are still waiting for the typical Favre to actually come out and say he's done, and not his agent... Other than the Vikes, they weren't the Top NFC team this year, apparenlty it's the Cowboys (!?!?!?!?!) which I cannot see happening.. And other sources say the Pack will win the NFC, we'll just have to see...  Drew Brees "Madden Curse" to happen this year? Who knows... Remember, Favre wants vengeance on Brees . . . But will it even happen? (MN @ NO - 1st Reg. Season game)   [Show/Hide Quoted Message] (Quoting Message by J.D. DIAMOND from Tuesday, August 03, 2010 2:10:21 PM)

Have you taken a good look at the Bears roster for this year??  And they have an all-star cast of former NFL head coaches to prepare them.  I'm not saying they're gonna win it all, but don't count them out either... ; )

Good riddance Favre, one of the best!!

Finally,as of today August 3rd Brett Favre has just retired from the NFL and will not return for a 20th season. Finally the stupid drama queen bullshit is over and we no longer have to hear about "the Favre watch". Fucking irritating. Put a fork in the Minnesota Vikings because they are done, they will not even make it to the playoffs this year with Tavaris Jackson at QB. Thats weak. The Saints are going to toally destroy the NFC without the Vikings in thier path now.

Often hitting guys in NFL is like shooting fish in a barrel, The defensive player is charging forward to make the hit while the attacking player is practically standing still or moving sideways. In rugby league you have the offensive and defensive lines moving towards each other at pace making for some mighty collisions and lots of injuries, it's AWESOME!!!

Ok guys, bringing the football talk to the NFL thread...lol

I think one of the differences as far as contact goes between Rugby and the NFL is that each offensive play in the NFL starts from a set position...that means the defense has more time to 'measure' an offensive ball handler up before contact is made...sometimes it's intantanious (contact), but more often than not the defender has the chance at a running start.  'Timing' is an important skill when throwing the ball and the receiver is focused on catching the ball and has little to no time to get into a position to protect themselves against a hit, so the hits are truly more dramatic and painful (even with protective gear).  And there's a psycological impact to that as well that can disrupt a game plan.  Ever hear a player being accused of having 'alligator arms'?

I actually think Jim Kelly "SHOULD" be trown in with "elite" quarterbacks such as Montana,Bradshaw,Elway,Aikman,Brady because Jim took the Bills to 4 straight Super Bowls...He won 4 straight AFC Championships in a row man,I know that he and the Bills didn't win any of thier 4 Super Bowls but come on ya know, just getting there 4 times in a row is an incredible accomplishment that I believe will NEVER happen again EVER,that is very impressive and out of 4 Super Bowls they only got thier asses kicked twice because they should of won the first one had it not been for Scott Norwood's misses field goal at the end of the game and the last one they were in they were ahead of Dallas at half time but Thurman Thomas fumbled the ball 3 times in the second half resulting in 21 points for Dallas so if it were not for Thurman's fumbles I think Buffalo would of won that game.

John Elway deserves to be in this group too,he only won 2 Super Bowls back to back but he took Denver to 5 Super Bowls, the only quarterback to have played in 5 Super Bowls! But going back to Jim Kelly,to me again this is the ONLY time when I would claim a quarterback who never won a Super Bowl belongs in the elite club of Super Bowl winners because of how great Jim Kelly was. Jim Kelly was better than Peyton Manning by far. And if Peyton Manning wins another 2 Super Bowls before he is finished then he will be ranked in with the greats for sure but I really can't see him winning another Super Bowl,he's been to 2 of them ....its hard enough just getting to 2 Super Bowls let alone 3 or 4.  The 6 best QBs of all time:

Joe Montana
Terry Bradshaw
John Elway
Tom Brady
Troy Aikman
Jim Kelly

Freaky...I'm not saying he's not a great QB, he most definitely IS!!!  But he's ALSO overrated, IMO...the truly GREAT QB's don't break in the big games, they RISE to the challenge, which he FAILED to do.  Jim Kelly took his team to 4 straight SB's and lost all 4 and he was arguably one of if not the best at that time.  Had he won all 4, he would live in infamy!!

spot on J.D. Calling Peyton overrated doesn't necesarily mean we are really putting him down. He's accomplished alot man. Have a super bowl win in itself means he is an Elite QB and will always be remembered as one. The jets also are going to have Kris Jenkins and Leon Washington back. If they can keep the injuries at a low, who knows. And does anybody know the Ladanian Tomilson deal? Hes getting trade or hes a free agent or something? Either way, Thomas Jones ain't too happy with the Jets at least financially so hmmm.......i know thats probably ridiculous but ohh man LT on the JETS? HAHAHA i'm sucha dreamer.

[J.D. DIAMOND] Tuesday, February 09, 2010 3:16:51 AM
Hey the Jets are really not to far behind the Colts man. That game week 16 against the Jets yeah they didn't play that game because it was meaningless as they already had home field advantage throughout the AFC playoffs but the Jets next year may be stronger than they are now and if they somehow were to get home field the Colts probly wouldn't be able to beat them there. And as far as Manning goes...hes my favorite QB of today with Brady being my second fav. but the media ala "ESPN and a few other sources were trying to claim Peyton possibly being the best or at least one of the best QBs to ever play the game and I think its bullarky man!! lol!!

Yes he is above average and yes he is great but there is no way he is up there with Troy Aikman,Tom Brady let alone Joe Montana or Terry Bradshaw. If Peyton wins another 2 super bowls before he retires I will say I'm wrong but for now I think its fair to say that Peyton Manning is overrated as to what "they" are saying about him.   [Show/Hide Quoted Message] (Quoting Message by FreakyMetalHead from Monday, February 08, 2010 8:06:54 PM)

Peyton Manning has a record 4 MVP titles and a Super Bowl championship so he must be...... very overrated!

I'm sure if he left the Colts for some reason no other teams would be interested because he's such a choke artist!

LOL! Yeah thats what I'm saying ron,Manning is very good and hes my favorite player today but he is overrated big time, hes not as good as everybody says he is at all. Now the best quarterback to ever play the game in my opinion is Joe Montana!!! And not just because he holds 4 Super Bowl rings, its everything rolled into one that he accomplished in his career, its amazing.

[spapad] Sunday, February 07, 2010 10:09:27 PM
As a nonbiased person, I thought both teams brought it to the game only at different times. First half looked like Colts would easily win and then after half time the Saints reinvented themselves in 30 minutes and through the Colts off bigtime. After that the Colts just seem to loose the momentum and make mistake after mistake at the most inoportune time. Good game!
[J.D. DIAMOND] Sunday, February 07, 2010 10:04:40 PM
llol! Yeah Jets may have beaten the Saints!! I like Manning too but I have to cower down and finally admit that he really is overrated and he can't mesure up to the "hype" that the midia gives him ranting and raving about how Manning is one of the best QBs in the history of the NFL...I say no way is he even close to a "clutch" quarterback like Joe Montana or Tom Brady theres just no way. Peyton has fallen short of trying to match what is expected of him all because he is one of the best only during the regular season, playoffs he is no better than any qb that makes it to the playoffs .

Like Mark Sanchez the rookie for example,he is just as good if not better than Peyton Manning during his first playoff run while during the regular season Manning can be as good as Montana or Brady consistantly but you get him in the playoffs and he chokes under pressure. He only has a super bowl ring because the Colts lucked out by only having to play the Bears with Rex Grossman that year so really when we hear all the hype of "Peyton Manning" we can all say that he is not close to it.   [Show/Hide Quoted Message] (Quoting Message by iamnostradamus88 from Sunday, February 07, 2010 9:45:00 PM)

[J.D. DIAMOND] Sunday, February 07, 2010 9:14:52 PM
Well congrats to the New Orleans Saints for winning the Super Bowl fair and square,as much as I love watching Peyton Manning during the regular season this comes as no suprise at all as Peyton is a choke artist just like Brett Favre is even though they both have a super Bowl ring, they are lucky to have one.Now I think its definately official that Peyton Manning is the biggest "overrated" quarterback in the "history" of the National Football League. Yes he is good but he is not good enough to be compared to the greats like Joe Montana,Terry Bradshaw Troy Aikman and Tom Brady.

[J.D. DIAMOND] Thursday, February 04, 2010 4:11:38 AM
Well the Cowboys are building right now as you know,I don't think that the score indicated the real Cowboys out there,34 - 3 was not thier best effort even against Minnesota,I'm not saying they would of won that game against the Vikings but they should of been closer then they were.I think Romo kinda choked a little bit, right now as in next season they need to fight harder during the regular season to win the NFC's best record for home field advantage throughout the playoffs of course.Thats what Romo needs this early in his career is to have the crowd to fire him up.On the road is very hard to win as it is let alone Tony Romo! lol!

But if Favre comes back for what would obviously be his last season then I dunno, the Vikings are very strong if they put it together as in learn how to win games by not turning the ball over.Dallas could give the Vikings and Saints a run for thier money next season.I would say that the Cowboys are the 3rd best team in the NFC next to the Vikings and Saints.   [Show/Hide Quoted Message] (Quoting Message by Budred from Tuesday, February 02, 2010 10:47:24 PM)

It's all good man. I actually agree with you. I'm a Cowboys fan. Someone I work with
who's favorite team is (Brett Favre) just went on and on about what the Vikings did to them.
Very arrogant. Therefore I was praying for Favre to get his neck snapped so I could look at
this dude and go HAAAAAAAAA!!!!!!!!! He didn't get his neck snapped but I got a kick out of
watching him get beat up as bad as he did. Loudmouth at work didn't have anything to say.
Farve made a few comments too that were a little disrespectful and then that last touchdown.
Definitely unnecessary. He got what he deserved.

Yeah Favre is a choke artist, but the Vikings never would of ended up in the NFC Championship game without him,and the Saints won that game by a field goal in overtime to beat them??? With the Vikings turning the ball over 5 fucking times? And it wasn't the defense that caused these turnovers,3 fumbles were all by the sloppy play of the Vikings and Favre's 2 ints were his fault, not New Orleans causing those 2 ints.

If the Vikings didn't turn the ball over once they would of beat the Saints by at least 21 points. The Colts may turn the ball over maybe twice in the Super Bowl but I gaurantee they will not lose it 5 times,no way.Peyton Manning will destroy the New Orleans Saints come Sunday.

Well first off I'm glad because Philadelphia and Green Bay are eliminated from the NFC,that leaves the Saints,Vikings,Cardinals and Cowboys and I don't mind who gets in now from the NFC.
But in the ACF,I want the Colts to go to the Super Bowl,if they choke then I want to see the Jets,I'll settle with the Ravens if the Colts or Jets don't make it but as long as San Diego doen't make
it then I'll be happy! lol!! I can't stand Philip Rivers,he is very good I know but I can't stand him...fuck the Chargers!!!!

dont discount the 'zona cardinals! they are starting to click .the big game is this sunday packers vs cards  in what will be an air show . conference  rivals setting up for what could be aplay off game for both of them later !!cards have a chance to finish 11-5   4 games better than last year when they went to the show !! but i totally agree with fuck pittsburgh they are starting to be like seattle! which team will show up, super bowl winners or the " stunners"
[J.D. DIAMOND] Thursday, December 31, 2009 8:37:25 PM
Well,Peyton is my favorite QB ever since he came out of Tennesee and the Colts are my favorite team besides my long time favorite Cleveland Browns, but they have not done well in the playoffs all these years! So I can't just say the Colts are going to be in the big show, they "should be there" but I'm expecting them to "choke" in the playoffs.... either the Divisional or the Championship game like they always do and the team I hate the most and have for 20 years is the Sandiego Chargers and the Pittsburgh Steelers...

So since the Steelers aren't going to spoil this season for me it will be the fuckin 'Chargers" that will piss me off again!! lol! The last 2 freakin' seasons the Chargers have beat the colts in the playoffs man, once at Indianapolis when they were defending Super Bowl Champions, and then the very next year which was last January at SanDiego the chargers beat the colts in overtime so with the Chargers and Colts both having first round byes,if both teams win thier divisional playoff games then it will be Sandiego at Indianapolis for the AFC Championship game,3 straight years in a row they would meet up and I'd bet the Colts will choke again man!! lol!

I hope they don't,but I'm definately not going to say that they will be in the Super bowl, like i said....Sandiego is the team I hate the most so I expect them to be there for me! lol! And the NFC,Favre and the Vikings are going nowhere but back home because they will lose thier first plaoff game for sure,I'd lay money on that one.The Saints? I think they will get beat too...so I think it will be the Eagles or your right...the Packers!!!! So I'll say the Super Bowl will be Sandiego vs. either Green Bay or Philadelphia.

Well J.D., let me give my 2 cents! ha!
I think the NFC will bbe interesting. I would like to see the Saints be there
but I say they fold in the championship round. The Vikings will fold in their first game
and so will the Cowboys. I can see the Packers in the Super bowl if they can beat the
Eagles, if not it's the Eagles beating the Saints to go.

The AFC is pretty clear it will be the Colts and either the Patriots or the Chargers to play the Championship. I feel like the Colts will beat either one of them to go again.
 Super Bowl winner  COLTS !!

So who will be in the Super Bowl this season.....anyone? AFC I'd like to see either Indianapolis,New England or Cinncinatti and the NFC Minnisota,New Orleans or Dallas.

But I think the Super Bowl is going to be:  Sandiego VS. Philadelphia.

One team in the NFL I can not fucking stand is the fucking Chargers yuk!!! If the Sandiego Chargers make it to the Super Bowl,I'm not watchin' it!!! I fuckin HATE Sandiego!!!!! If they get beat in the playoffs I will cellebrate like I do every year they don't make it!!!! FUCK THE CHARGERS!!!
[J.D. DIAMOND] Tuesday, December 01, 2009 4:38:12 PM
Yeah the Bills need work thats for sure. I wouldn't know where to start to tell ya the truth! lol! And yeah I like the Saints cause they have never had a kick ass team untill now,but I'm still pulling for the Vikings because thier last shot is this year with Favre and possibly maybe next year to Win a Super Bowl, your Bills are not the only ones to lose 4 Super Bowls as I've mentioned a few posts ago, lots of people don't realize that the Vikings lost 4 Super Bowls between 1970 - 1977...that hurts! This year is thier only chance as the Saints and Drew Brees have next year and the year after to go,so I'm pullin for the Vikings!!!   [Show/Hide Quoted Message] (Quoting Message by METAL MELTDOWN from Tuesday, December 01, 2009 9:28:11 AM)

I think the Saints will be in the "bowl" this year!!  I am SOOO glad they kicked the shit out of NE last night.  That was an awesome game.  Its time for NE's bubble to be burst.

On another note...I went to my 1st NFL game this past sunday.  The Bills and the Dolphins.  The Bills are fired up after that ass kicking and my hats off to Ryan Fitzpatrick.  He did an excellent job in the QB slot and socred a nice 31 yard run in for a TD!  The Bills are showing some promise now.  The play NE in a few weeks and after damn near beating them back at the beginning of the season and the effort they have been putting forth since Dicks booting, I have a feeling they will pull it off this time.  That would be, for around here anyway, a sweet sweet victory.....

I'm a patient jets fan. I'm not one of those fans that needs to win every game. I'm a realist. We need to build with this kid. The jets will be good in time. But Time Takes Time.

[iamnostradamus88] Monday, November 30, 2009 2:27:01 PM
j.d diamond i couldnt agree more. Patience is needed with sanchez because lets face it, it was a gamble. I think with more experience he will get better. I think hes a bit nervous and some of his mistakes have been mental(but alot have been typical rookie mistakes) and benching him will just make it worse. Its nice that the jets are finally making some smart draft decisions lately.
[J.D. DIAMOND] Sunday, November 29, 2009 11:35:19 PM
Well you guys did have Bill Parcells as coach and Vinnie Testaverde as QB back in 97/98 but Elway wasn't havin' it!!! lol!  Sanchez actually looks good,I know the last 5 games hes been flobbleing a little but over all he is the right choice. I think sometimes coaches are too quick to bench the starting QB....Elway,Aikman,Marino,Kelly all of them struggled at first even Peyton Manning,so I think that the Jets should be patient with Sanchez.

Hey thanks ron! Yeah I've been into NFL since the 70's because of my dad used to worship football! I have no knowledge of collage football at all, very littel, but NFL you bet! And yes Fraiser's D is pretty much the best in the NFL right now I agree....coming from the 85' Bears team they are buying whatever he is selling!!! lol! Wasn't Faraiser a safty for the Bears or was he a corner back? Can't remember but he was very good!!!

And you hate the Colts??? lol! Peyton Manning is my FAVORITE QB in the NFL and I've been pulling for him ever since he got out of Tennesee,I know he always loses in the playoffs although the Colts won a Super Bowl, with what talent they have with Manning you'd think they would of won more...however they have not got a running game really,Addai was injured last season I know and is better this season but they always can't seem to run the ball in the freaking playoffs!!!Anyways,Peyton Manning during the regular season has to be equal to Joe Montana man!!!!!   [Show/Hide Quoted Message] (Quoting Message by ron h from Sunday, November 29, 2009 8:39:11 PM)

J-E-T-S JETS! JETS! JETS! Ohh man we actually won a game that I watched!!! Maybe not a great win but a win nonetheless. I'm just hoping the Jets can pull a 500 by the end of the season. If we go 8-8 i'll be satisfied after the beatings we've been taking. I still have faith that Mark Sanchez will be okay as well. I feel its better he makes the mistakes he makes now than later and I do believe the kid has good stuff. Then again this is the Jets we are talking about so ya never know. We've been jinxed with QB's since Namath. Also in addition losing Leon Washington sucked hard even if our rushing game is still awesome(it kinda has to be) and I feel this season also went to crap after Kris Jenkins our nose tackle went out for the year. He was the foundation of that defense and I think they feel naked without him. But like I said, 8-8 with a rookie QB who nobody was completely sure of and a few injuries and a pretty bad losing streak? I'd say that a START. I just wish to god I never became a jets fan lol. To anyone reading DON'T DO THAT TO YOURSELF!
[ron h] Sunday, November 29, 2009 8:39:11 PM
I'm quite impressed with your football knowledge J.D.  The Saints are a force to be reckoned with, no doubt, but I like the Vikings defense as a whole more than the Saints.  Leslie Fraizer has that "D" looking really good up there.  Though I'm in Indiana, I can't stand the Colts!!!  I'd like to see the Steelers get their asses handed to them!!!!  LOL

Oh definately,I do like how the Saints are undefeated as Drew Brees is totally on fire and even though the Saints have never been to the Super Bowl yet, you have to pull for Minnesota, they have NEVER won a Super Bowl, between 1970 and 1977 the Vikings went to 4 Super Bowls and lost them all.The first one was Joe Capp as QB and the next 3 Fran Tarkenton was QB but yet thanks to the Buffalo Bills thats all people remember is how the Bills lost 4 in a row!!! LOL!!! Hopefully Favre can take the Vikings to the Super Bowl and WIN! If The Patriots or Colts or Steelers are there then that would make for a classic!!!!

I hated that team!!  They beat every team I liked....every one of them including playoffs of course. I had $50 bucks on the Huston Oilers in the AFC Wildcard playoff game in 93 I think it was and the Oilers had a 35 - 3 lead in the 3rd quarter only to lose to the Bills 41-38 and that was one bitter loss and out $50 bucks!!! The one that hurt the most was when the bills beat Montana's Cheifs at Orchard Park 94'....that one still stings!! LOL!!
