One last Plane tale before I go. When Flora was 7 months she made her first trip to Greece. When we stood in customs one passenger remarked to me how quiet and peaceful she had been the whole flight, and many people in the line appaulded her. I felt good to know she didn't keep anyone up all night.  Night, everybody!

Or drunks from first class who drink all night and each time they come back to coach to use the bathroom, since apparently 1st class rooms are full, they bump into you and wake you up!

I am with everyone who says to knock yourself out. I fly a lot. 24 hours isn't uncommon. Only thing that gives me fear are those damn people trying to ply duty free goods onboard! Crap! Let me sleep!

Think of it this way Ron. You'd face a far higher percentage of something going wrong traveling by a car many miles than traveling by plane. Take some Dramamine and relax, and if that doesn't cut it order a Rum and Coke as soon as your able! You'll be fine!

Ya know, I think it's more to do with not being in control.  Heights don't really bother me and I've logged about 100,000 flying miles up to '87, so it's nothing new to me.  I really don't know why I feel like I do, but I can't seem to shake it!!!

First decide if its the plane travel that makes you nervous.  if so, what was your last flight like? get some gravol or something if you think your prone to motion sickness, dose yourself before boarding is the best.  could help you sleep on the flight also I find the best way to fly is unconcious.  for me having a plan to face my fear helps deal with it.  hope the trip is great.

Okay folks, I need a little help here.  Without going into detail, I'm taking a long weekend trip this weekend...something I haven't done in a very very long time.  I haven't flown since '87 and as the time draws near I'm having a really difficult time wrapping my mind around the idea of plane travel and am getting more and more nervous as the day draws near (Friday).  I've always considered myself to be a strong willed person, but this is really affecting me...no appetite, naseau, unfocused at work, etc...is there anyone that can help me out with this???  Please...???

Yup. I saw it on National Geographic. One of those shows that explains amazing structures and how they were built.

Basicaly, they put it on top of a cliff where the slope is very steep. Now, I dont know if the entire platform is glass, but some of it certainly is...

I would go on it... IDK exactly how high it is, but if I made it through the Alps on my way to Germany... Well, if nothing else, I have at least some experience... Lol...

Holy crap!! They built a glass platform there?!? Heck, I wouldn't even set foot onto that thing!! I would just walk down to the bottom, or maybe get there by donkey or mule.

I just looked back on those pics you mentioned, and it really looks cool... Very breathtaking indeed.

Yup, a steam train sounds nice, tho what I would probably consider is that platform thingy I saw on TV. Aparently, they built a glass platform over the edge of the cliff, so you can walk over the edge of it, and see straight down into the abyss... Must remember to pack some dipers, if I ever go there.

Hey Strat!

I've been to the Grand Canyon about seven years ago. I posted pics of it in this thread a while back. My family and I went there during the summer, so it was very hot. We stayed in a small village nearby and got to the canyon itself by train (an old steam train, that is). If you love breathtaking desert scenery, then that's the place to go. One might even say that it looks like something out of one of those classic cowboy movies. The "hole in the ground", as many like to call it, extends for miles and you can see alot of rock layers! There are tours where you could go all the way to the bottom of the canyon, although I heard that they are pretty expensive. You can also go river rafting in the Colorado River, which is at the bottom of the canyon. We simply walked along the ledge of the canyon, taking in the scenery.
Glad you're considering it, though. It's a great place to do some sight-seeing! I'm hoping to go back someday.

That's Kewl! I imagine the stairs would be a much longer trip to the area.  If I paid for the cable car, I would have done the same thing you did.
There's a place in Charlotte that's a Microbrew, love to go to it every now and again. It's Got the Huge Barrels right there in the area you dine in! It's probably falling out of favor now, because it was a "trendy" spot, but very unique place.

You talking about the waterfall shot? If so, they are stairs. You could go up in a cable car of take the stairs. I was in a rush so took the cable car up but crossed the bridge, went to the top of the stairs for more pix and then wanted to kick myself because I bought a round trip ticket and wanted to take the stairs back down. While in a hurry as I wanted to catch the Basilica and the Ile, the cheapskate in me didn't want to let the "ride back" ticket go to waste so I walked all the way back to take the car down.

That microbrew was great for any beer snob (um...me). Summer Ale made right on the spot. Yummmm.....
