Frankly, i'm a bit afraid to follow the advice of the thead... and everybody should!
I hate *something*?
Nowadays, it's almost a crime to admit you can't standt sometinght!
Perhaps... just imagine I'm wrong. Let's see what responses will follow thias admission:
I Seriously Hate Stupid People!
I could say that if you don't agree, you''re stupid... but then again?
Now... the question remains...
Edit: I hate those typos, too... AND the editing optons of this board..
Is there anything I don't hate?

Ok, I'm officially getting old...
2nd edit:
Apparently I'm in a wrong thread. I thought this waas about " Something pissing you off? Say it in here..", but it look like "someone hijackedf the thread by using condolences (sp?). Animals? I love them. People not understanding the subject of the the thread? Ok, I hate them. Now, why stop there? Really: I Officially hate everyone equally. There. I Feel good! I'm good! I.. never mind...

We have two cats and they are NEVER allowed outside. Simply will not allow it as it is just too dangerous. So sad. I know you are feeling terribly today. All my best to you.

I hear ya Becks! Its just ridiculous, and its from these shows like Bevis & Butthead,Bill & Ted's Excellent Adventure,Wayne's World and Jack Black's retarded heavy metal attitude. As I said, look at Bruce Dickinson from Iron Maiden....does he look and sound like a dork idiot like Wayne's World(party on dude!)?? Or K.K. Downing....does he look and sound like a baffon like Jack Black? The answer is obviously "NO". Yet the metalhead community/fanbase is labeled as stupid moronic dumbshits like what they see on tv. Since when is heavy metal a haven for geeks that act like "Bill & Ted's Excellent Adventure"?? Its a freaking "joke". I'm sick of it!!! These suggestions are being put forward and hopefull we can see how many of them will be possible to put into action. This family need all the help they can get. I have never ever arraged any type of fundraisers before (participated in many but never organized!) so this is a first for me but I believe in my heart that I must do what I can to help.
I shall keep you posted on how things will pan out and give updates on progress made.

Thanks for the good words....as for fundraisers...they can be fun and also quite successful if you have variety. I speak from experience as I help fundraise and volunteer at one of Chicago's animal shelters. We do a lot of stuff...trivia games..."Vegas Night".."Evening gown bowling night", bake sales, rummage sales, silent auctions and "Drag Queen bingo night" ( a well know drag queen calls the numbers!..You can make it fun and raise quite a bit of $$$$,
[Head banger] Thursday, October 15, 2009 8:45:55 AM
you could try hosting a trivia night. what you do is get a hall, set it up with tables of 4, find a host. create 10 categories of trivia, and 10 rounds of each. sell tickets, each table competes as a team. sell drinks and perhaps hotdogs. each round you have the host ask the questions, then each team writes down the answers and hands in the answers. while they are marking them the smokers go for a butt. the rest are bored so you get them to play a mini game. they put in 50 cents (5R) to play. then you tell them what the game is. simple games are heads or tails. everyone stands, and puts their hands on their head or butt. flip a coin. those who were wrong sit down continue till one person left. give them a prize. someone would dontate prizes. the other minigame I remember is a carry along game where you ask people if they have items on them. if not they sit down.
my mother in law is in a sorrority that does this anualy for a charitable fundraiser, so if your interested I can probably hook you up with someone who has more details.
Well, I'm not sure if anyone remembers my post a little while back about my old school friend who's baby passed away?
They had his memorial service on Saturday and they've recieved their medical bill and it's sitting around R 5 million.. not even sure what that converts back to but we're roughly 10 to 1. It's basically a shitload of money. They were fortunate enough to have medical insurance but not all of it will be covered, probably be about R500 000 shortfall. I feel so bad for these people and what they've had to go through. A few of us are thinking up ways to hold a fundraiser for her and her family so that they don't have to go through anymore than they already have done. Any ideas for a fundraiser would go down wonderfully so if anyone has any ideas.. PM me or just post right here.. Would be so apreciated, 'cos right now my mind is blank.
[HOT ROCKIN' METAL GODDESS] Wednesday, October 14, 2009 5:08:20 PM
I like that idea Becks. Entrants could go around and get pledges/donations which could add up to quite a bit. Also, I don't know if this is an option for you, but our local TV stations/newspapers love to let people know about these types of events and will even post a phone number for viewers to donate money. Every little bit helps and in the end, it may raise quite a bit of money.
I've walked in events like this and taken my pedge sheet and just posted it up at work. When it's a good cause like this, people are more than willing to give.
This is such a heartbreaking story Joe. I hope this helps. [Show/Hide Quoted Message](Quoting Message by Becks from Wednesday, October 14, 2009 3:28:03 PM)

I agree with you Joe, respect to you Mara! We are very fortunate here in NZ, all our beef and sheep are free range and organic, they spend their days wandering around lovely pastures with others cows and sheep. Chicken is a different story, but it's not hard to find organic and free range chicken. Pork, the same story. Puppy mills are something I never heard of till recently (we don't have them here as far as I know, but you never know), and I have to say I was so shocked. I am so glad we adopted our doggy from a shelter, and he is the best dog in the world! [Show/Hide Quoted Message](Quoting Message by joedraper from Tuesday, October 13, 2009 12:03:49 PM)

Nothing wrong with stating your point of views Mara, and I agree with you.. that if most people saw how mass meat was produced we'd be in uproar about it too. I think if you do eat meat (and I do) you should go for organic or at least do your homework and find out where it comes from. Puppy mills are so sad and cruel. And as you say, hundreds of perfectly lovable little darlings waiting at a shelter to be loved.
I have utmost respect for you being a vegan!
Oh and I agree with you on the new Halford CD.. I'm going to buy it in the next week or so and I cannot wait to hear it! What's so wrong with a litlte christmas cheer?

I agree that the slaughter of whales and baby seals is barbaric and when we here see this, we are horrified and appalled. However, the majority of our meat and poultry here in the States is supplied from factory farms, where animals are kept in horrendous conditions, in small cages, often unable to move, living in their own filth and treated purely as "product".. these are sentient creatures who feel pain and terror. We often do not want to REALLY think about where our meat comes from.. it comes from terror and fear. Check out videos on the Mercy for Animals website..People are just conditioned to be emotionally removed from the source of their food..... If we had photos of animals in factory farms placed on our food packaging, would we feel the same way??? One hundred years ago... the majority of our food came from real farms, where animals were allowed to enjoy the open fields and sunlight that large pastureland afforded them. Now... the food industry is big business...our livestock and poultry are nothing but a commodity...I apologize in advance for my comments being on a Metal , but since there was a conversation going on on said topic(s) I was compelled to post. And those puppy mills are pretty much like factory farms. DON'T SHOP....ADOPT!! Shelters are overflowing with wonderful dogs and cats just waiting for a good home.
[Show/Hide Quoted Message](Quoting Message by Mara from Tuesday, October 13, 2009 11:30:51 AM)

Forgot something...for all the naysayers out there re: Halford's Holiday CD.. give it a chance, or if you've already made up your mind that it's gonna suck..then don't buy it!! It's something "a little off the beaten path" but who knows... it might just be excellent...let's wait and see.

HA!!!!!!!!!! The Princess and I watched that show, HRMG! It was entertaining enough but, unfortunately, I do not think it will have a great impact in the long run. Same with the clubbing of seals thing. Been going on for a LONG time and I just do not see it coming to an end. The problem is not a matter of what WE perceive as right and wrong so much as it is a cultural difference. The Japanese hunt whales because, in their culture, it is very lucrative and very much in demand. It is a part of their way of life. You cannot slap an international ban on it and expect them to honor it. You would have to change an ancient culture with thousands of years of tradition and belief and bans don't do that. Same with the eskimos. It is part of their culture to kill animals. Sometimes VERY cruely.
When we see things like whaling or seal hunting, we are shocked. It is not part of what we are yet, when we eat a steak, we see nothing wrong with it. That cow was alive once. Granted, we may have a more "humane" form of execution but it is killing nonetheless. I, for one, don't really care HOW it got there, only that it is there and this mentality is no different than a Japanese consumer looking for a whale steak, if there is such a thing?
I guess we will never be able to accept certain things in this world and I am not asking ANYONE here to condone bashing a baby seal in the head but I am merely pointing out that it is not perceived in the same we perceive it. I could not do it but, then again, I do not eat sushi either.

Yes Joe, I agree. People need to be made aware of the cruel things going on in the world so that we can put a stop to it once and for all! We watch "Whale Wars" a TV show about the volunteers trying to stop the Japanese whalers. It's just so sad when you see the whale on their hook. They are "doing research" my ass! If you were doing research, wouldn't you be weighing the animal, taking measurements, etc.? Bunch of LIARS because they know what they are doing is WRONG, but they are trying to justify it. Really pisses me off. But at least they aren't getting nearly as many as they used to be. At least that is a start.

I also couldn't bring myself to watching it HRMG... On the other hand I'm glad that it was posted because it brings awareness to the fact that such evil barbarianism goes on in the world and with enough outcry, enough voices we may in future just have enough power to do away with this cruelty.
I know the Japanese whalers are under so much threat now that they are not getting anywhere near the 'quota' that they are legally allowed to kill. It's just terrible and cruel. I have no idea how someone can gain pleasure from wearing fur, let alone fur that was ruthelessly ripped off a tortured baby.

I couldn't even watch this video because I saw a video about the clubbing of baby seals when I was little and I cried for days. I can still see the blood on the ice and the mommy seals barking and crying in my head. This kind of thing makes me sick to my stomach. I just don't know how anyone could do something like that! It's one thing to kill because you need to eat and feed your family and use every part of the animal, but this is not that.
