Oh yeah man,Searching For Atlantis what a killer song this is.The entire album of Lionheart is totally magical and majestic, its a kick ass British Heavy Metal/rock album traditional all the way. This album is "better" than Powerslave by Iron Maiden and I'd go as far as saying that its up there with albums like Screaming For Vengeance,Defenders Of The Faith,Painkiller,The Number Of The Beast,Mob Rules,ect... its an instant classic, every metalhead who likes Saxon should have this LP in thier collection,a definate "must have". Great track Painkiller87,yeah Saxon's debut album may not be as good as modern day Saxon but out of 8 songs on the album I like 6:
Rainbow Theme
Frozen Rainbow
Judgement Day
Stallions Of The Highway
Backs To The Wall
Militia Guard
I never really cared for "Big Teaser" or "Still Fit To Boggie" but yes,a great debut album from the British legends. [Show/Hide Quoted Message](Quoting Message by Painkiller87 from Friday, September 10, 2010 8:07:20 AM)

You have to understand, I know nothing about this shit. Also my financial
situation doesn't allow me to buy anything I want. As bad as you make it sound,
my discs are turning out pretty good. I bought an MP3 version of "Feel the Same"
by Riot. I recently recorded/converted the whole LP. My version has a bassier
and louder sound than the MP3. Also when I play Cd's that were originally released
on vinyl they do not sound as good as the vinyl I'm putting to disc. I would love to
do what you're telling me but my funds limit me. I appreciate all you tell me and feel
free to rip what I'm doing. I'm not taking it as a personal attack. I'm using it as a way
to learn. Take care man.
Eech. Sorry to say that I know it. We bought one Ion for my lab and hated it right away. Cheap price, yes, but cheap quality as well. It has since been "retired."
I shouldn't say any more. If you are happy with it, great. I bought a new booster for my old turntable, ran it through my stereo and to my computer. My rips are all but flawless. Know that you are limited by software. Ion sucks. You can do a firmware hack but it is difficult. Keep ripping your MP3s in the highest bitrate possible is my best suggestion. Look at the top of this Halford page. Look at the bitrates. Flac and WMA both are considered "lossless" at least in the way they release it. WMA DOES have a lossy format. www.halfordmusic.com/content/static/index.html

I understand that analog is better than digital. More bits of music per second equals a fuller,
better sound. It's the transfer sounding better than disc I don't get. I figured once that was done
the quality would degrade to digital. Right now recording to MP3 is all I can do. I have a USB turntable
that has EZ Vinyl Converter program built in. I know nothing about flac or even what that is. I
probably come off as stupid but really, it's just a lack of knowledge. I'm still in my first year with
computers and quite honestly, I don't do much on it. Most of my computer time is spent here.
I do like to learn though and will try to figure out what you're telling me. I knew you would have an answer,
you are quite knowledgeable. Even though MP3 may not be the way to go I am amazed my discs are
sounding as good as they do. Take care man. [Show/Hide Quoted Message](Quoting Message by guidogodoy from Saturday, May 01, 2010 6:27:30 PM)
All depends on the turntable and especially the cartridge. Like I said, the first answer to the link above had it right.

LPs have better depth. The range is better (highs and lows), IMO. I run a 5.1 on my computer and a 6.1 surround in my main room. I'd only suggest that you NOT rip to MP3. It is a "lossy format." Like zipping a file, it makes adjustments to the highs / lows and even midrange to keep the filesize small. Rip to flac. Most trading sites don't even accept MP3s as they are flawed. Flac is an exact replica. A google search can teach you how to do it. All you need is the right codex. [Show/Hide Quoted Message](Quoting Message by Budred from Saturday, May 01, 2010 6:05:55 PM)

I still have a couple of Venom LP"s. Welcome to Hell and At War With Satan.
I plan on converting them to MP3 and then to disc this weekend. I have about
80 albums I want to do this to. I did 15 already and they sound really good. I
think they sound better than regular cd's. I did Saxon's Strong Arm of the law
a few weeks back. The cool thing about doing this is that I'm hearing albums I
haven't heard in over twenty years. I have about 200 albums but only about 90
that I haven't already bought on disc. The cd's I'm making sound better than
manufactured cd's of the same album. When I finish doing the ones I don't have
on disc i'm thinking of doing my Priest albums. I knew LP"s sounded better than
disc but I didn't know converting them would sound better also. Can anyone
explain this? ....Guido? (knower of all)

Well they are alright Budred,I don't have anything negative to say about them, but I really don't get into too many bands that play heavy metal/thrash,only a hand full throughout the years but they are close to some of the bands that I like,Hirax,Deathrow,Hallow's Eve,Razor but these bands I only like certain albums from, not every album ect.... Good example though.
My favorite styles of music are traditional heavy metal and "OLD" black metal from 1980 when Venom started it up to the year 1995 but I'll give it untill the year 2000 but after that I don't like any bands that emerged onto the scene. At this point its just ridiculous to form a "black metal band",fans of this once elite genre who enjoy it should NOT form a black metal band, they should let the old school bands do thier thing. I really don't like very much "death metal" at all even though I have a fun project with a friend for the last 10 years that is early 90's death metal but its in the vien of old Morbid Angel and old Deicide. Those 2 bands are the best death metal bands but only thier early work, thier later stuff is ridiculous and boring, sold out and washed up.

J.D., I don't have a link but go to Lastfm and key in Fog of War616 and
listen to the track Fog of War. It's not that I think you'll love it but it reminds
me of the kind of music you're always talking about. It's a little thrashy, with
a European style of guitar playing and decent vocals. Check it out and let
me know what you think. I don't think you have to sign up to listen to music
there. Check out my page. Check out my journal of "Bands I've seen live".
Some will make you puke but I think you'll notice an interesting mix of music.
Realize that alot of these bands were openers so it's not like I went there to see them.
Also a couple of the shows I went because my wife wanted to. She was a dance teacher
for 15 years so don't hate too much when you read them. Peace!
