As for the whole KK being gone and Richie Faulkner playing dual to Glenn. I simply don't see dual there. I'm disappointed a different selection wasn't made. To me, his style is so close to Glenn's there leaves no interest. But that's my personal interpretation of what a JP twin axe attack should play like. Don't know how better else to describe it.
When I heard Rob left, I bought Jugulator "to support the band". Wasn't 'til I watched Ripper do covers of old material that his style grew on me. When Rob & the band reunited the synergy was there. The JP magic was in the air! No matter the strife backstage, in each personal camp.
You're right. Our support of this tour is important. Fans should be able to come here and express their opinions without feeling their active status will be affected if the core group allienates them because they ("true fans", new / old) express their opinions differently.

Priest were my favourite band for ages however it seems that everything they are doing lately is designed to generate as much money as possible for as little input as the band can muster. They are cashing in on their fans blantantly. If they had let it die in 91 they would have left an awesome legacy, despite a few hiccups ( POE, Turbo ) but they would have ended with a bang, Painkiller. Since they've got back togther ( to cash in on metals resurgence ) they've released one pretty good album, AOR and one crap album, Nostra. On the Nostra tour they played two songs from the album and a bunch of greatest hits. WTF? Then they blabbered on about a new and groundbreaking Nostra concept tour which never eventuated for two reasons 1) No one bought the album cos it was shit and 2) The whole idea of it is fucking stupid and everyone pulled their heads out of their asses and realised that in time. Idea shelved, they quickly shove out British Steel for the third time and tour that again, thus touring for the second time without showcasing a new album. Then instead of getting on with another album they announce a farewell tour in which they are going to be playing a selection of their greatest hits and old songs they haven't played in years, a chance for the fans to say goodbye and give them some farewell money and a chance for them to make more money without doing anything. Now they're talking about a new album and new guitarist and "Priest will carry on etc". So why the fuck a farewell tour? Get to work on the album and tour next year when it's out. Why are they doing a farewell tour if they are not fucking off? This on top of Halford re releasing and remastering and all the old Fight and Halford stuff, an album of Christmas Carols and that shitty Halford 4 album. And don't forget that shabby excuse of a live album Touch Of Evil Priest released. It's a whole bevy of stuff that stinks of flogging every last cent out of things and providing nothing in return. And this is coming from someone who liked the band enough to spend $350 Canadian to meet them three years ago. I could go on with my thoughts on the reasons for KKs departure but I won't at this stage. I hope this answers your questions as to why I give them the bash when I feel they deserve it. I'm not going to blindly love the guys in the band and tolerate what they do just because I like a lot of their music.
Honestly, I partly agree with you.(...the only decent thing part anyway.)
I have a question. You bash them quite a bit. You think they are a joke and
you feel like they don't respect you.
Question being, What keeps you here?
And no I'm not attempting another back and forth with you I'm just curious to see your answer.
jimmyjames wrote:
Personally I just think things are getting beyond a joke with them. The only decent thing they've done since Halford came back was AOR and I just see a general lack of respect for their fans.

K.K. is done, Priest rolls on, and none of us know how good or bad it will be. I can't help but laugh at how narrow minded

The trolls ALWAYS rat themselves out. For some reason they continue to get attention?!

I appreciate the post. I have been trying to catch what Eddie had to say on both his radion and That Metal Show to no avail.
Something else for those that haven't heard it already - Eddie Trunk (US Rock DJ & personal friend of the band) discusses & gives his opinion on KK's retirement. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ChxpPTKRNxA
Eddie Truck sounded concerned and upset. HE LIKES PRIEST! He mentions KK is one of the founding members and for him not to be part of the Epitaph Tour after 40 years of service... FUCK NO!
JP management better mend this tear because JUDAS PRIEST is KK,GLENN,ROB,IAN,SCOTT.
[I'mtellin'you] Wednesday, May 11, 2011 4:48:34 PM
I listened to the Eddie Trunk radio clip and he is NOT ok with KK leaving the band. AS A FAN, he said, I WANT TO HEAR THAT KK HAS GOT BACK TOGETHER WITH THE BAND. Hell, in the interview he said Judas Priest played a personal concert for his 25th year in radio. THE GUY IS FRIENDS WITH KK AND WANTS HIM TO COME BACK. There is some underlying shit here and a farewell Epitaph Priest tour without KK Dowing is just WRONG!

Whats a matter... nobody wants to Play ; Duck, Duck, Goose? I'll play! Let's say we retire Ian Hill and replace him with Michael Anthony. And what the Heck, let's retire Glenn Tipton too and replace him with David Lee Roth. I know it sound silly, but we'll keep Rob playing drums and retire Scott just because it's fun. What do we have now... Judas Priest . Even though everyone will be calling them... Judas Halen Chicken Foot Bone.
I know what your sayin'...what happen to Richie? Don't worry, he was picked up by Glenn Tipton and Steve Winwood and started " WTF" . GOOD MORNING PRIEST CAMP! Today we have a wonderful day planned. We get to play Duck, Duck, Goose. You know the game... you walk around a circle of Judas Priest members telling them what to do and if they don't agree with management they get GOOSED. Now ...do you all want to play? Good! Tell me what you would think if we replaced your friend for another _______ .... you fill in the blank because it seems all of you regular POSTers love Change! Dude, comparing yourself and the JP situation against Churchill and World War II is pretty out there......
KK is out. I understand but don’t fully understand. What I don’t understand is posts such as: “I can’t wait to see the new line up!” or “ KK is gone… deal with it”or “I don’t like KK gone but what can we do about it?”. Let me tell you about CRAP. This world would be covered in crap if someone didn’t say “I don’t like this crap and why can’t we just get this crap out of here?” The answer was pipes. I believe a pipe could work in this case of KK coming back to the band…a peace pipe. Just so you know… this may never happen since he retired on 4-20-2011.
What we can understand is world problems can be solved sometimes through diplomacy. I also have been told and believe that your vote makes a difference in a democracy. I also believe in the free trade market with the capitalist rule of supply and demand , that will and can, dictate the cause and affect/effect of a business. Judas Priest has become a business. When KK started the band Judas Priest it was a passion for music. We the fans listen to Judas Priest because of the music not the COST of the music. Now we are faced with buying what the Judas Priest business is trying to sell us. When we go to the store we don’t have to buy the cheapest bread they are selling. It is also said that Man does not live on bread alone. I don’t want Richie Sourdough. There is no way we should be paying full price for Judas Priest without KK or buying what JP management and Sony are selling us.
THE ONLY WAY I’M GOING TO BUT TICKETS TO THIS EPiTAPH TOUR IS: A) Ticket prices are at 1981 POINT OF ENTRY prices @ Long Beach Arena, CALIFORNIA,USA : Floor Seats $15.00USD; Loge Seats $12.00USD; Nose Bleed Seats $10.00USD. B) Ticket sales are so low because KK is not touring that they reduce the price 90% off or at 1981 tour schedule pricing and throw in discount coupons for JP paraphernalia. Or finally C) KK Downing rejoins Judas Priest for the Epitaph Tour and I pay full Market Price.
Sir Winston Churchill said something to the effect that we will never surrender. I feel the same as Churchill and I will continue to complain and boycott the Epitaph Tour until KK rejoins the band. I’ll say it again, THERE IS NO WAY WE SHOULD BE PAYING FULL PRICE FOR JUDAS PRIEST TICKETS WITHOUT KK. And don’t be sayin’… the cost has gone up because of having lasers and rental balloons from Pink Floyd via courtesy of Roger Waters. We don’t need that shit…WE NEED KK with IAN, ROB, GLENN, and SCOTT! JUDAS PRIEST
And don’t forget to pay RICHie RICH for his time and thank him for the nice photo holding his guitar.
[Becks] Tuesday, May 10, 2011 11:26:18 PM
Well said Bud! I couldn't agree more. I am actually very interested to see how Richie goes playing with the mighty Priest; yeah I am very sad KK won't be there, but I respect his decision. I'm not going to slam everyone over it, that's pointless and won't achieve anything. I am going to continue to support my favourite band of all time and look forward to what the future holds!

Exactly Budred!! KK needs to do what is right for him. Whatever happened, I'm sure that Rob, Glenn, Ian and Scott tried to work it out with him. They don't want to go out without KK. And for all those people that think that somehow the fans can change this? Yeah, next time KK comes over for lunch, I'll make sure to stage an intervention so that they can all work this out. WTF? And exactly how does boycotting the tour get KK to come back??? It doesn't! Respect his decision because he is entitled to it. Of course we aren't happy about it, but when you are done, you are DONE! Maybe he just realized that even though he said yes to the Epitaph tour, he just didn't want to do it. Let the man have peace and appreciate everything that he has given us. If you can't support the new line-up, then walk away. You can't FORCE someone to do what you want them to do!

Well said, Bud. I think the only decent thing to do is support K.K.'s decision, and support the band by giving Richie a chance to prove himself as a member of JP. It has become way too easy to rip into him - but if Rob and the boys have decided that he is a worthy replacement, then that's all I need to know. I'm sure that this was not a decision they made lightly, and they must have 'auditioned' Richie enough to agree he could fit into the monumental void K.K. left. Maybe Richie will infuse some new fire into their creativity, but we have to give it a chance first before deciding it's going to blow. As for K.K., as a 'rock celebrity' , he deserves the same freedom that us regular folk have, to make a change in his life that's good for him, whether we're pissed about it or not. Sometimes you just gotta call it a day. I hope he finds kindness, good wishes and respect when he runs into his fans, not hostility and crap.[Show/Hide Quoted Message](Quoting Message by Budred from Tuesday, May 10, 2011 8:04:20 PM)

DEEEEEEETROIT!!!
Yeah, it leaves you wondering for sure WTF happened! I just don't see how they got Richie in a month...... but I guess it's possible.
I hadn't seen that interview before. Sad, now, in a way.
Hey, he gave props to Detroit but still, WTF happened?!?

I posted this video before but didn't know the date it was from. It is from MARCH 10, 2011!! KK is talking about the upcoming Epitaph tour and is obviously ONBOARD for it!!! So what the hell happened between March 10 and April 20???? Seems to me KK didn't like how the writing of the new album was going and some management decisions, so he decided to leave the band sometime AFTER March 10th. So many of those tickets were not sold under false pretenses as we believed (unless KK isn't telling us here that he had already made up his mind to leave the band).

Yes, I have to agree with you there! If he doesn't want to be there, it just wouldn't be worth seeing him. It just SUCKS that it had to turn out this way. But what can we do..... not a damn thing. Either go or don't go. We'll soon see how good Richie is - I'm sure there will be plenty of videos floating around of the new line-up.
would you rather a enthusiastic new guy or a bored kk?
if he doesnt want to be there its not going to be worth seeing him

Nupe or Nope, Dope or Hope, Fan or Can, I don't like it when a thread ends in... I hope I didn't offend anyone and my hands are clean. Judas Priest... the name SAYS IT ALL. When my Mom first heard me say I like the band "JUDAS PRIEST" she shaked her head. She didn't say"THATS NICE". I think the first time I glanced at the written words "Judas Priest" as a phrase was in a Bob Dylan album lyric of my older brother showing me. The first time I heard the words "Judas Priest "spoken was when I was watching "Gun Smoke" as a very young child on television. It caught my attention but I didn't understand. The first time I heard the band "Judas Priest" I was thinking who is that singer and the guitar work is marvelous. Well, I saw the band finally and I can honestly say it was KK that caught my attention. I CANNOT and WILL NOT believe the situation with KK not playing on the Epitaph Tour.... is something that is impossible to fix. I also would have said it would be impossible for the Dallas Mavericks to sweep the Los Angeles Lakers in four straight... yet the Lakers are out of the NBA 2011 playoffs... losing four straight.
I KNOW KK IS SAYING TO SUPPORT THE EPITAPH TOUR BECAUSE HE DOESN'T WANT TO OFFEND ANYONE. I also know if there is a truth worth fighting for... it is protesting KK's leaving of the band under these unusual circumstances and finding a solution to the problem. KK IS SAYING HE's IN GOOD HEALTH and EVERYTHING IS FINE. NOW THE FANS NEED TO SAY "WHAT NEEDS TO BE DONE TO CHANGE HIS MIND?" ... or at least findout .... If KK found the magic lamp and had three wishes surrounding the scheduled Epitaph Tour...WHAT WOULD THEY BE? I'm sure none of KK's wishes would be staying retired and allowing JP management to keep the status quo while fellow band mates do nothing or don't want to rock the boat. So many of those tickets were not sold under false pretenses as we believed (unless KK isn't telling us here that he had already made up his mind to leave the band).
I haven't posted about KK's departure in more than two weeks. Why? Because the discussion is over for me. KK out: fine, Richie in: fine. KK and the band have probably thought about this for months, so there ain't no way he's going to make a surprise return. A reason that causes someone to retire from his very own band after forty years is not something he'll forget about in a couple of weeks and say "hey guys, mind if I join back?". Of course I, like every other fan, have that little hope that one day he'd come back, but that's something I know to be as likely as winning millions in a national lottery. Unlike some I'm not pointing out any fingers to whom should be held responsible for this turn of events: maybe it was the management, maybe they did argue about Nostradamus or money or some other shit, or maybe KK just doesn't want to do it anymore. But who the fuck knows? Knowing the true reason wouldn't make the situation any better than it is now.
Yeah, it could have been handled better and they could have announced the thing earlier, but I certainly wouldn't have wanted to hear in February just after I bought the tickets that "yeah so KK ain't coming along and we might not tour at all because we still aren't sure about a replacement, sorry for the inconvenience and leaving you in doubt for the next few months". At least now we know what the band is going to do, even if it was slapped on our faces. Yeah, it sucks with the farewell tour and all, but it's not the end of the world. There's still four old members you can say goodbye to, and KK is so exceptionally easy to contact that you can easily say your goodbye to him as well. Maybe you can't give him a goodbye in a concert but the idea is still the same, it might lack some feeling but that's life, it's not good all the time.
Those who think that the band's over for them when one member is replaced, especially when it's a key member, fine. Move on, listen to the old albums and watch the old DVDs, don't buy the new album and don't buy tickets for the new tour. But don't start bitching about it to us who still wan't to support the band. And especially don't say that everything Priest will do in the future will be crap if you haven't yet heard a single song where Richie plays with Priest. Who knows, it might turn a lot better than people are expecting.
Believe me I was just as much shocked about the news as everyone else, in fact I mourned all the way through 20th April when I heard this. KK was probably my most favourite member of the band and I still like him, largely due to the fact that he's so positive, easy to contact, and has kept his feet on the ground. Not saying that the other members are the opposite, but there's a little percent of something in KK that makes him my favorite slightly more than other members. I'm still supporting both the band and KK, there's no way even a serious matter like this would change that. If life gives you lemons, eat them of at least make some fucking juice out of them, don't just throw them away and let them rot.
I'm sure that many will disagree with the above text. But hey, everyone's entitled to opinion, and I don't think I attacked anyone in my post. In fact I think that I'll ignore this thread just to make sure I don't start arguing with someone, because there is not one correct opinion about this one.
