Queens Of The Stone Age are playing in Wellington on the same night as the Melvins/High On Fire gig. We don't get too many bands down here so this scheduling really sucks as I would have gone to both shows if I could. As it happens I already have tix for the Melvins/High On Fire so I will be sticking with that. Still gutted though.

Then your a wise man. You know that you have a tendency to drugs that induce pleasure/anethesia. You avoided the meds that would cause that. You could have taken mega ammounts of Ibuprofen, which will actually do the same thing, only it's hard on the liver to process.
Most Dr.'s are honest, they have to be. To be found guilty of perscription fraud is to loose the license they went to school for years to get.
Sure, there are crooked Dr.'s. need look no further than Michael Jackson's personal physician giving him a drug that should only be used for surgery. They are willing to risk their license for this. Most of those Dr.'s are pill heads themselves so they "feel" for the addict. Bad medicine. [Show/Hide Quoted Message] (Quoting Message by Budred from Saturday, January 08, 2011 2:45:52 PM)

and I can tell you that way too many people are doing and have access to pills. I personally know one person who gets Oxycontin for knee pain.
That's for cancer patients not knee pain. Pain pills in this area are so plentiful that it's obvious they are being over-prescribed. Dr. shopping
surely is part of it but too many Dr.'s only concerned with a buck has to be part of it also. Ultimately you can only blame the person. I'm so glad
I never got into that shit. I didn't even take meds after a hernia operation for fear of addiction. I layed on a couch for three days, sometimes crying
from the pain, sometimes wishing I was dead it was so bad but I didn't touch those f*ckin' pills.

The quiet train of addiction has been going on for years. The biggest problem is, those who are prescribed those drugs start to abuse them. Then one Dr. is not enough, they go to a new Dr. with same complaints and get more drugs. Muliple Dr.'s prescribing the same drug. Now, there's the problem. I know this to be true because I work in the healthcare industry. I have worked in private practice, and some files are flagged by the Dr. as "No more pain drugs/sleep drugs" for this person. It had become obvious to the physician that the drugs were being abused.
Dr. shopping is the biggest problem in regard to perscription drugs.

here it's a freakin' epidemic. Take 50 dollars, go to a doctor and tell him something hurts. He'll start you off with
something mild, just tell him the next time that it didn't do the trick, that you need something stronger. After that
you'll be on your way to addiction. Monthly visits to your dealer, I mean doctor and your good to go. He's happy,
he's making money, your happy, even if it's chemically, and no one gets hurt. Until you die that is, then everyone's
hurt, except the doctor because there's hundreds of other idiots behind you doing the same thing. WTF!!! If law
enforcement wants to stop this they got to get the doctors under control. This shit is out of hand. I'm sorry, I had to rant.
Take care all and stay away from these f*cking pills. |
