Motörhead's version of Cat Scratch Fever is one of the greatest covers I've ever heard!

Yeah thats right , you were saying that before I joinde the forum. I'll give you credit for that. But you were also saying that Motorhead wasn't a Heavy Metal band but some kind of hard greasy biker style band instead. Now you're on here saying they are one of champions of British Heavy Metal. So which on is it? Are they heavy metal or not? Make up your mind or do you change it every day. The contradiction continues. BaHa!!!!!! Busted again!!

Oh i know it Becks!! And the funny thing is that we were saying this all along way before that retarded piece of shit Maiden fanboy joined this forum,Freeze is right nobody should even talk to him,I've stomped him and defeated him 10 times over as everybody already knows so theres no point in posting in his lame stupid thread lol! This guy is retarded to the max and he has proven it to the rest of the forum. Everybody just stop responding to him,let him talk to himself and post by himself for now on...he will get bored if nobody awknowleges him....fuckin loser lol!

Motorhead blows aways Iron Maiden so far into the dirt its unexplainable,Maiden is a "trend" that people listen to because its the "hip thing to do" they listen to them because everybody else likes them so they feel they have to like them too to try and "fit in" with the masses of sheep just like Metallica fans, there is no difference between the "TREND" of Iron Maiden and Shitallica,no difference, dumb people listen to post Cliff Burton era Metallica because its the trendy thing to do,they see all these trendy kiddies listening to shitallica so they feel they have to be a part in that, thats why they are "sheep".  Fuck off to Iron Maiden and fuck off to all Iron Maiden fans.

DOWN THE FUCKIN' IRONS FOREVER.

A-FREAKIN'-MEN!!! THAT is what I have been saying for ages now! Exactly why I can't stand current Maiden. A Matter of Life and Death led me to that very conclusion. Every (seemingly 17 minute) song changes tempo so often I just can't get into it. Never have, never will and believe me, I have tried.

One guitarist too many, too many poor, droning songs to count.

I agree with the trying to be clever comment JJ. I think Maiden needs to realise that fans don't necessarily want some egotistical insanely long album. It's very rare that it actually works, like you say. Marriner is the exception.

One thing I've noticed about their later material, from Brave New World onwards, is this tendency to try and be to clever. When you listen to their old stuff, from Iron Maiden through to Fear Of The Dark, the songs are constructed in two ways. They either start at a certain tempo and pretty much stick with it or they build and build and build and then reach a peak and finish. This works well as you'd have your three to five minute songs that just go along and then you'd have your longer "epic" kind of songs which are usually six or seven minutes. The obvious exception is Ancient Mariner at 13 minutes. Nowadays it seems to me that Maiden do to many songs maybe start out slow, build up to a peak, then change tempo again chugging along then try to build up again before winding down. It's things like that that get boring. It worked for Mariner but that was a one off. They end up with a good idea for a four minute song turning into a boring eight minute song. Whether it's Harris or not I don't know but it pisses me off. I hate putting a new cd in and seeing that it's 76 minutes long or something.

I agree with you. I've never liked the band "Rush" but they used to play "rock" with a tad bit of progressiveness but it was rock and there were "riffs" ect..but when they hit around 1984-85- till now they are so progressive its really not Rush anymore with the songs they write. Iron Maiden to me is the "Rush" of heavy metal except they didn't go as far as Rush did with the over-the-top progressiveness but they still went far enough to agrivate old time Maiden fans especially fans of the band's first 7 studio albums(1980 -1988).

I actually like the AMOLAD album except for those 2 stupid tracks I've already mentioned several times because its the best thing I can get from Maiden since 1988's Seventh Son album but it still is light years from Seventh Son in quality,as I've said it is a great album for Iron Maiden as we all know they can get worse so I'm just trying to give the band some kind of credit.

I think the problem with Iron Maiden is "Steve Harris" and the reason I say that is because of Bruce Dickinson's last 3 studio albums Accident Of Birth,The Chemical Wedding and Tyranny Of Souls wich they are kinda progressive too but they are tons heavier and better quality of song writting, those 3 albums to me crush every Maiden album after 1988's Seventh Son album. I think Steve Harris says whats what and whos who...he is the master mind behind Iron Maiden and he says what goes and what doesn't,these less than average albums they keep putting out I blame on Steve Harris.

Judas Priest may not set the world on fire writting albums but really they lost Rob Halford a lot longer than Maiden lost Bruce and to be totally honest...Angel Of Retribution besides Lochness screams of classic Judas Priest and has that old-school sound....it could of easily been released in 1986 instead of Turbo...it could of been right there alongside Screaming For Vengeance and Defenders Of The Faith.

I'm not saying that its better than those albums but it could of easily been in that era with sound and quality song writting. Iron Maiden hasn't come close to Retribution with Brave New World,Dance Of Death or A Matter Of life And Death and I'm betting that The Final Frontier will be no exception. At least Priest gave us Angel Of Retribution and I'll put my money on that this next LP from our Metal Gods will be another classic in the Judas Priest shrine...we'll have to wait and see.

The thing about Maiden is that they set the benchmark so high. Those first seven albums, up to an including Seventh Son are some of the greatest albums in the whole metal genre. Every single one of those albums is considered a classic. I think Maiden are fully aware that everything just clicked right back then and it's something they are never going to be able to recapture. They are also fully aware that the reason people come along to their shows is to see songs from those albums performed live. This is why they continue to play them and also the reason behind the Somewhere Back In Time Tour, which was a true world tour. I think Maiden truly enjoy touring and playing to their fans and thats why they continue to do so, it's not as if they need the money or anything. The reason they continue to release new albums is because it gives them a legitimate reason to get out there and play without falling into the whole nostalgia cash in type of thing a lot of bands are doing these days.   [Show/Hide Quoted Message] (Quoting Message by J.D.
