The bombshell at least resolves one issue. I do NOT want to hear "Sinner" played.
Give me five minutes and I can add 20+ songs to the list.

Well said Don! It's a long tour to spend on the bus with people that you don't get along with. Your emotions come through in how you play and in your performance. He wouldn't be our KK up there and he knows it. I'm very sad that he will miss that final bow and see the admiration in all his fans eyes. But he would only be the shell of the man that we know. Better to bow out now so that we can remember him as the incredible guitarist that he is. It will be difficult to look over at the left side of the stage and see and hear someone else, but I will be there to see Glenn, Rob, Ian and Scott one last time as well.

He’s been on a tour bus most of his adult life. He just doesn’t want to get on the bus with these guys anymore. He’s had enough. While I would prefer that he does the farewell tour he just can’t bring himself to do it. I can’t blame the man for wanting to stop. He’s given us everything he could and now he’s done. Richie Faulkner DOES want to get on the bus so I’ll go and see Richie Faulkner play KK’s licks on stage. I’m not going to sit at home and pout and miss my last chance to Rob, Glenn, Ian and Scott one last time. |

Since I don't have enough "respect points" (I've been a fan for 30 years, own all their cds and have seen them 6 times) to post this elsewhere, I'll do it here. If you guys can't get along at this stage of your career, the hell with all of you. There is no way now that I will attend the epitaph tour.

I can't believe the lack of outrage. What if it was Glenn? Now that's a question worth pondering. KK needs to get it together and go back, he does owe the fans, the ones who made him who he is. No one works the tremelo bar like KK, not even Glenn. This is ridiculous, no offense (like the fans should ever apologize to the rock stars..give me a break!)I'll stay home. It's a "FAREWELL TOUR". Our chance as fans to Thank Priest for the music we've listened to our whole lives. Selfishly, I want to KK there at the end of the show taking one final bow with the other Metal Gods............ Whether he plays or not............ I do hope he re-considers, straps on a guitar and becomes part of this historical event, I think he'll regret it if he doesn't. We ALL want an opportunity to wish KK a "FAREWELL", he's earned it.............KK if you're reading, be Frankie Lee, Priest isn't a house, it's a home. Me & all your fans will help you with your load. |

Well said Don. Like the lack of bitterness. I know we would all beg him as a group on our knees if we thought it would work, but it wont and we must respect his wishes and rememeber all he has given to us for so many years.

I want to thank Mr. Downing for all the years of great music and I certainly wish him well in retirement – the man has earned it. ....and it's not a health issue, of course that would be a different set of circumstances, BUT THAT ISN'T THE CASE HERE SO WHY EVEN BRING THAT INTO THIS???? That's like saying 'if my stuff didn't work I would understand my wife cheating, so even though it does, it's OK because if it didn't....." I just don't get people's dumb logic. And if he was sick, I think they should cancel the tour so there you go. |

What total BS.....these guys grew up together, they survived Disco, New WAve, Punk, Glam, Thrash, withstood every trend and flew their unique Priest style; they were the first band ever to play music that heavy with a calibre of talent that would put them in the same company with any other group. Only the Scorpions could write metal music as good as Priest, and give metal the respect we the fans craved. I, for one, walked a little taller when Priest was able to break through the mainstream, it was like I won too. If the Scorpions can put their massive egos in check for them to do a final tour than bloody hell so can KK Downing and Priest. The fans don't deserve this, they deserve the original lineup, and as a discriminating listener I can tell miles of difference between KK, who has a very deep blues base in his shredding, to any other guitarist, don't care how good they are. GET IT TOGETHER GUYS AND WORK THIS OUT; I WON'T GO TO A PRIEST CONCERT WITHOUT KK DOWNING. PERIOD. Edited at: Friday, April 22, 2011 3:50:41 PM |

OK, I have to say my piece and then I’ll let this rest. There have been a few days to absorb this. It is my hope that KK will read all of these posts and somehow work out his differences and rejoin for one final tour.
KK, Thank you for 42 years of Judas Priest. You leave us with an amazing body of work in both quantity and quality. You have inspired many guitarists, myself included, all of those years. You were always my favorite part of Judas Priest. You had the right look and those flying v’s. That is the ultimate heavy metal guitar. I wanted to be just like KK Downing. Never quite made it that far but it was fun trying.
I have been waiting for a US tour date to be released. My oldest son is now at the age to go to concerts, and I wanted him to see the Priest. My wife and I are still planning on going. I still believe that musically, it will be a good show. I’m sure the band has picked an experienced guitarist and the music will not suffer. But KK is who I really wanted to see even more so than any other member of the band.
It appears that Judas Priest is not immune to the old “musical differences” problem. Musicians need to make music they are happy with first. Each and every band member needs to be happy with it. Selling records is secondary. Management, who f&#*ing likes management. They were probably trying to take too much. The band deserves at least half of what is brought in, not a bunch of f&#*ing CEO’s that couldn’t play an E5 power chord.
Not that any of us fans are really owed more of an explanation, but I know I have many more questions that I would like answered. In time, we may get to hear more of the story.
KK, I wish you well. Even if you don’t go on this tour, maybe someday the full Judas Priest line-up will make it to the northeast of the US. Maybe by then my youngest will be old enough to go too. |

KK leaving the band is like flagging the really epitaph of the band. Ok, this has happened for some serious reason, something woud not be right with him. A guitar leader like him woud not have retired just because he's tired of touring or quarreled with some other band's member. Any way, I just am going to the show if the visit my country and of course, long for his presence and his gleamming metal sound, it is impossible to avoid the frustration.... |

Priest pioneered the twin guitar lead, true, but many bands have adopted the style since and are very good at it. Faulkner must be up to the task or they wouldn't have hired him. He's not some busker dragged in from the street, (mind you a lot of them are excellent musicians too !!!). If the tour had been cancelled there'd have been hell on from most fans, a lot would have been directed at KK I reckon too for not seeing it through. Continuing the tour is the best option for all concerned, and had KK Downing been injured or ill this is what most would have wanted and Faulkner would have been the man who saved the day, and his praises would have been sung, although the connoisseurs and musicians amongst you will say they can notice the difference in playing or simply say "but it's not KK". Personally for instance If I were to go and see Dio's band touring this year I would notice that it is Ripper Owens & Toby Jepson (ex Little Angels) on vocals before I'd notice craig Goldy was playing guitar & not Doug Aldridge, much as I like them both.
Nobody is indespensable, the world carries on.
