I am going to guess the 2nd and 3rd are related. if your loading a lot of messages and the comp is running slow your going to hang. more than 100 mesages if I do it on the laptop I might as well just log off and give up.
First thing pissing me off is that the flu shot I got has done F'all! I'm sitting here full o snot and feeling shitty. This not only makes me grumpy but seriously stands in the way of my training program. I cannot afford to take a week or two off because of this shit.
Second thing pissing me off is that whenever I log into the noticeboard and I click on the top where it says number of messages since last visit etc the screen looks like its loading but it just goes blank? So no idea what's been happening here for the last two weeks.
Third thing pissing me off... my facebook is slower than an asthmatic ant carrying a heavy load of shopping.
Why? Can anyone tell me why?

Stone Sour had to back out of ROTR 2011 and were replaced with Puddle of Mudd.
First Fu Manchu and now Stone Sour. Rumors are Avenged Sevenfold may bail also.
That one wouldn't bother me if replaced by someone good. I hope the line-up doesn't
get any weaker. Next year I'm bailin'. Too much money for all this uncertainty.

Hope you got some paint in the garage or you will end repainting the whole house.. and bees will get rid of raccoons HAH

HOLY SHIT!!! Well, I guess this guy did the trick! Now you are left with the wonderful job of patching the hole. Hoping it all goes well and things are back to "normal" soon.
CRAP!!! Hours after helping a bee guy rip zipsaw into my house and a full 5 gallon bucket + of honeycomb later, I think I have solved the bee trouble. Pictures to follow. Only got stung once or twice by those little bastards.
Cost a small fortune but this guy was the shit! Now I just have to put my house back together. There is now a gap a family of 15 raccoons or so can use as a permanent residence in the joists under my second floor.
You mean the EpiPen? I doubt Hellrider will need it either, they wouldn't dare sting him!
I know Billy isn't a real exterminator, but.... he's cool to watch. I'd say your contract is legal with Hellrider. Just make sure he signs on the dotted line when he gets there. And let me know when you plan on doing this, cause I definitely don't want to miss this! Oh, and Mark will be glad to lend a hand. He NEVER gets stung! He can attack a hive with a can of spray in one hand and a fly swatter in the other and they fly out of the nest and come at me standing across the street!
Yeah, Iwishhewouldn'tcomearound is most definitely NOT a lawyer or he is the WORST one out there! Maybe he works for the Sinus-Drainus lawfirm here, LMFAO!

Yeahhhhh, wellll. For as much as I like ol' Billy's outfit, he isn't exactly a true exterminator. Big surprise. TV. Sure, he'll break out a stucco wall and remove a 65lb honeycomb at ground level but try one in an interior wall that has no interest to the reality TV community. Grunt work.
You all saw it. I have contracted the Hellrider. If I believed that a "doofus" that can barely type is a lawyer (if he is, what a half-ass! LOL!!!!!!!), I'd have him attest to this being a binding contract.

Ross Halfin is a dick. He claims to be the biggest JP fan, publishes books about Metallica but talks smack about them. New Bon Jovi book. Def Leppard book. Priest? Nothing but positive comments but not a WORD in his blogs. Shame as he is the official photog of this site AND the band.

LOL!!!!!!!), I'd have him attest to this being a binding contract.

while it doesnt compare to the joy that I am sure paying someone to destroy your home gives....
I just got a blackberry at work.
first, they cant transfer my sim card from my old phone. so I get to spend hours moving all my contacts. my phone is my address book. then this POS wont recieve a text. cant conect to bluetooth. I am not a tech guy, but all that shit I could manage.
so I go to the telus (phone company) store. they can move my contacts for $20, but I need to make an apointment, which means taking time off work. no idea on bluetooth, and they send a text which then alows all the texts people sent me to come in. FFS!!!

Just saw a newsreal, he was not armed. Does not matter. Glad he is gone.

"Want a computer to last at least 5 years?" Why would you still stick with a dual core, then? Hell, popping a quad into a new Sandybridge mobo (- Cougar Point. Intel fixed the problem with the first release) is a minor bump in price but will take a 2 core to task. Like I said in my first comment, why anyone would put an outdated processor into a new build is beyond me. Especially when the price difference isn't that great. Go AMD and Linux if you really want to get most bang for the buck. (Quoting Message by ron h from Sunday, April 17, 2011 9:41:40 AM)

Well, I've decided I'm going with Win7 because XP Pro will no longer have support as of 2014. The upgrades I make now I want to last the next 5 years!!
That being said, I have new issues to deal with. Though I still think a dual core processor is fine for me, you've got me thinking about the quad. You both hit the nail on the head as far as all the apps that slow a computer down and if I'm upgrading it only makes sense to do it right the first time. I am NOT a comp geek by any stretch, though I am able to understand what ya'll are talking about.
I looked into the various SSD's and they all seem more than adequate for my needs. This would be a seperate purchase along with my kit, but I'm finding it difficult to find what's compatible with what. I've always been the type to learn hands on as I go, but the $'s add up if I make a mistake.

Gaming or not, it is exactly as Nupe said...apps that take advantage of a quad core, as most now do, would have one dedicated to them making multitasking much faster. While I am not a fan of "kits" when I build machines, I do also recommend an SSD (solid state harddrive) just for the OS with a backup physical drive (I currently run Seagate Blacks) for storage. An OCZ (Vertex or Agility) 2 +/- 50GB drive hovers around the $100 -110 range. Not a great mem=buck ratio but getting better every day.
While you can get them with greater capacity, that size would be enough for the OS. Burst read/write speeds are outstanding. Yup, exacly right, pseudo-nerd. A FLASH! Heh.

Whats pissing me off, well I'm not actually pissed off about it but more disappointed is this lockout from the NFL. I've been an NFL fan since the 70's,not into college sports, just NBA and NFL with the NFL my favorite and to see this bickering...the millionares vs. the billionares...ect....
I don't want to discuss the situation behind all this, but I love the "spirit of the game"...sure there are "some" players that care more about the money than sacrificing themselves to win but there are also the players that are surely quabbling over money but once they get on the field and think about winning a Super bowl they leave that all behind and have passion for the spirit of the game itself.
But thinking we won't have an NFL season this September is a letdown to say the least. The Cleveland Browns have been my favorite team since 1985 ( yes I know they fuckin suck lol ) and the New England Patriots have been my 2nd fav. team since 1993 with Peyton Manning being my favorite QB along with Brady.
And New England's loss to the smart assed irritating big mouth pompous New York Jets(I've always hated the Jets but not as much as I do now) in January 3 months ago was the worse disappointment personally I have ever seen in my life,I was bummed out all day long and Victoria laughed her ass off at me lol ( she is from Denver and loved John Elway,as I did too ha! )
But yeah I've seen worse losses by points,blow-outs ect...but never the disappointment of a team that went 14-2 and lost to the freaking rival Jets, that sucked! Going back to the point, its a shame that there may be no football because I'm aching for the Patriots to beat the Jets both times in the regular season if not a match up in the playoffs have both teams make it next year, what a shame these money hungry mofos can't get it together!

How much are SS hard drives running these days Guid? I know they were outragous a few years back when they were new, like anything tech wise. Just wondering if they had come in to the realm of actual reality yet.
In a flash~ as in huge storage flash drive. I'd love to have one, not that I need one, but I want one. lol

The more cores you have in the processor, the easier it is to run multiple programs at once, as each core is responsible for a specific program only. For the operating system, I'd suggest that you stick with XP Pro if you're only going to get a dual-core processor, as any of the features added by Win7 are rather heavy on the processor. But if you get a quad core, Win7 is my suggestion, especially if you don't play a lot of games (as most of the older games have difficulties running with Win7).
When exploring the different types of processors available, I was told that for my needs a dual core is really all I need and that a quad core would be overkill as I don't really do any on-line gaming. Can you tell me what the benefit of going quad over dual is for me? Also, these barebone kits don't come with an OS, so I'm debating between sticking with XP Pro and Windows 7. What do you suggest?
J.D., Don't feel like your alone, all this is a lot easier than it appears (or so it seems). You just need to decide on what it is you want from your system, investigate what will give it to you and let everything else fall into place.

Go quad core at least, Ron. You'll be obsolete out of the box with a dual.
Now who wants a webcam! LOL!

lol I don't have one either. I have a 19" flatscreen without a built in camera and it's less than a year old. Had a webcam many years ago. Looking at barebone kits now to built a new PC. Learning as I go, there's a lot of info out there to wrap my wee lil mind around. I DO know I want a dual core processor a lot more memory than I have now. Taking on a new challenge!!

Funny you should say the "no camera" bit. I just gave one of my old ones to a buddy with the same problem. No WEBCAM though? Not even built into the computer itself? What kind of dinosaur are you typing on, man? Even Hellrider has a webcam. Like my old digital cameras, you can't even give them away. I have a number of those too. Just say the word and I'll make a charitable contribution. Too bad I already got reamed on my taxes...

Awww, a chocolate lab, they are such good dogs, and so pretty. My Mom has one and she's a great dog.

JD.
A little late with this one but sorry to hear about your cat. I had to put three of them to sleep within a year of each other.
One was 15, one 11, and the other 9. That really sucked so I know how you feel. I said I would never get pets again because
of how much it bummed me out but the wife and I now have another. The plan is one at a time from here on out. Take care.

A friend of mine has an African Grey parrot. Definitely the coolest, craziest, meanest bird I've ever seen. I loved looking at him because he
looked so evil. My friends wife was the only one who could touch it. t bit my friend on the hip once and bruised him and drew blood. It did the
same thing to his finger once. The crazy part was the shit this bird could say. My friend had other cats and dogs and a couple of parakeets.
The bird could imitate all of them. It was the craziest thing to listen to a bird meow, or bark or imitate the other birds. He could say more than
I can remember but some of the shit he said.
"Pickles give me gas" (that was my idea)
"Hey Gary, Steelers suck" (My man actually got mad about that one)
"Whats Uppppp"(Just like the beer commercials)
"Fire one up"
coughing sounds
imitating my friend saying "Ah fuck it then"
Yelling at the dog "Redddd!!!!"
when the phone rings"Hello, (pause) pretty good"
Alot more. If someone told me about this bird and I never saw it I would never believe how much this bird can say. They say they are the second
smartest bird out there. They can count to 7(I think), they can dinstinguish colors, and remember hundreds of phrases. I think my friend said they
would live to be around 80 years old. I'm not making any of this up. I haven't seen my friend or the bird in at least five years. I'm sure he's still kickin.
Now "living as long as we do" is a double-edged sword. Always kept me from adopting an African grey parrot. They typically bond to one person and live so long that it is pretty much a given that you have to write them into your will as they will, most certainly, outlive you.

Never again will I ever see a cat that had passion for food like this one,it was unreal.

As I mentioned before we are getting a puppie on Friday and had planned to for some time, just a coincidence I lose one on Monday and another one comes into my life on Friday. Animals are cool, much better than people. Thanks for the kind words Becks.
And HRMG,it sounds like you have a wonderful German Shepherd, and yeah its good you celebrate each day with him,but on the flip side he may have a little longer than you know so our fingers are crossed. I guess there is no such thing as "long enough". We could have our animals for 35 years and it would still hurt as much to lose them. It was harder losing my animals than it was losing my own mother and father and I know that sounds strange but its true. Perhaps the reason being is that I was able to talk to my parents while they talked back,my animals can't say anything and perhaps thats what makes it more heartbreaking...I don't know but it really sucks.

I know how you must feel right now, as my family's dog died in late November last year. It was a true shock after having her around for 13 years... suddenly there isn't a small, furry friend to greet you when you get home.
It's very awful to lose a pet after a long time.

As with all my animals in the past I was holding him when he passed and it was peaceful. I buried him in my back yard next to my other animal I had to put down in December. It was hard digging another hole. "SIGH".

Its not the first animal I've had to put down nor will be the last, but its fucking hard to do. Its a part of life obviously, and I know all the things that goes with it. It just pisses me off that I had to wake up and realize I'll not have him anymore. Fucking lame. Maybe the troll can laugh at me while I'm feeling down and out. Not asking for anybody's sympathy,I'm just posting this to release some stress. Its a shame that animals don't live longer, thats for sure.
