Oh they're creepy alright !!!--picture this --you're 5 years old &  your dear 'ol dad takes you to the circus for the weekly dad/daughter outing--& a tall clown comes over to you & squirts his flower in your face & honks his red nose at you --I was petrified !!----I was so totally UN prepared for that & have been afraid of clowns to this day--but wouldn't ya know it --every haunted Halloween house had a clown place --I still have nightmares of that damn clown chasing me with that chainsaw !!   [Show/Hide Quoted Message] (Quoting Message by ronhartsell from Wednesday, October 22, 2008 4:28:20 AM)

Oh DF, remember the Clown in the rocking chair in Poltergeist?  After seeing that, what kid (or Lana) wouldn't be afraid??

I do have to admit that they are a little creepy...

Aw, shucks...

Been gone for a bit, and missed the posts from Scorpion, Lana & Ron.  Thanks guys.    I am starting to feel a bit better about it all...

Of course, you are all right -- and we all know about Tony Iommi from Sabbath who played after having two fingertips cut off.  (ouch...)

In fact, it's getting to the point where I'm looking forward to it, and just want to get it out of the way.  Done.  Then, I can get on with my life -- again.

But, be warned, anyone visiting my house will never know when I'm going to pull "the cut finger routine"...  Oh yeah... I think I'm going to get a big knife and attach a bloody 'finger' sticking out the side ...  and let the games begin!    Then, I'll torture them with some three-fingered violin playing!

Thanks for the support & friendship.  You have helped.

I used to think snakes --drowning --demonic clowns with chainsaws were my biggest fears that kept me up at night but going to Eastern State Penitentiary with my 17 year old great niece for the Terror Behind The Walls haunted house event--getting totally lost ( thanks to map quest ) in downtown Phily --now don't get me wrong --Philly is a beautiful city bu getting lost the DAY AFTER The Phillies won the pennant was not the time to be lost in Philly --rooting & hollering on the street --I KNOW I turned the wrong way down 1 way streets 3 times  & then the klunker was driving past the pizza place & it had bars on the windows--so m y new fear that'll be keeping me up at night --going past Eagles stadium 3 times thinking I was going the right way & was just going around in a circle

Whiskey Woman --I feel your pain --I myself haven't lost a limb but I told ya about my finger surgery & my finger will  never be the same but back to you--you are such a strong person & I know you'll pull through with flying colors--yes it IS just a finger but YOU  are so much more than 1 finger--as long as you have your heart & that sweet personality of yours then you shoudn't  fear anything --just remember I'm a PM away for anything you need --shoulder --ears or just being there --you may feel like you're all alone but we ( the Judas Priest family ) are with you 100 % all the way--good luck my friend & keep your chin up-- I know it'll be hard but you're too wonderful of a human being to be down for too long

Hi there WW...I'm sorry your having such a tough time with what your going through...I've never had to go through something like that before, so I really don't know what to say other than you are in my prayers...did you ever check out the site I sent you  RachelBartonPine.com  She, like yourself, a violinist who also has a love for Metal had an accident involving a train in the Chicago area that almost killed her.  Now she has moved on to wonderful things and is still playing.  You're a strong woman, you've already been through a lot, I really don't think there's anything you couldn't handle!!!

Mordecai Peter Centennial Brown (October 19, 1876February 14, 1948), nicknamed "Three Finger", was an American Major League Baseball pitcher at the turn of the 20th century. Due to a farm-machinery accident in his youth, Brown lost parts of two fingers on his right hand and eventually acquired his nickname as a result. Overcoming this handicap and turning it to his advantage, he became one of the elite pitchers of his era.
NOW WHISKEYWOMAN, I AM CERTIANLY NOT WISHING ANYTHING BAD TO HAPPEN TO YOU, BUT AS THE EXPRESSION GOES, WHEN SOMETHING BAD HAPPENS AND ONE DOOR CLOSES, ANOTHER ONE OPENS.

Ok folks...

The only thing that scares me, is something happening to those I love.  (After many years as a paramedic, I am totally paranoid about accidents ...)

But...  as Halloween draws closer, I am getting really scared to have my finger amputated.  Sorry if I keep bringing this up here and there, and I know it's 'only a finger' ... and I know things could be worse.  But, it's MY finger, and the loss of my violin & guitar ... and when I think about them cutting it off, I feel nauseous!  I still have two weeks to go, and each day I get worse.

 help...?

Don't get me wrong --I like the funny ones but when you go to Haunted Houses you get the demonic looking ones who always try to pinch you--my Dear 'ol Dad took me to Barnum & Bailey's Circus when I was 5 or so & this clown came up to me & squirted me with his flower & honked his red nose at me--I think it was because I was 5 but anyway that scared  the stuffin's out of me --then like you mention there was that Stephen King movie "IT"--EEEEEEEWWWWW !!

[Deep Freeze] Thursday, October 16, 2008 7:18:00 AM
I will never understand the fear of clowns. The Princess shares this silliness and I am at a loss to see why. Clowns are delightful and funny. Damn that Stephen King!!!!

Demonic clowns & the sound of a chainsaw---now put both of them together & you know part of what keeps me awake at night

Airplanes dont bug me for some reason.  I have done some flying including London and Turkey as a kid.  I guess its because on a plane your in an enclosed area similar to a ground vehicle.  I cant do the upside down rollercoaster thing or anything that goes around in a circle at a hundred miles per hour in an open vehicle just sitting on a 2 inch wide track with nothing underneath it!!  The last time I did a roller coaster, I literally thought I was going to have a heart attack!!  I guess im a big pussy....lol

I SAW THIS MOVIE TWICE WITH MY EYES PEEKING THROUGH MY FINGERS
I TOTALLY AGREE THAT THE MOVIES BASED ON TRUE LIFE ARE MORE FRIGHTENING THAN THE MADE UP ONES--TO THINK THERE ARE PSYCHOS/SICKOS LIKE THAT OUT THERE !

The one thing that really scares me is the realistic style horror movies. They made one in Australia called "Wolf Creek", based loosely on the serial backpacker killer Ivan Milat. To this day I have only seen about 2 minutes of the movie, and even only seeing that small amount I went to bed with ALL the lights on in the house. It is too scary to watch!!!!

Getting caught in such a nasty blizzard, the road covered with snow, that I can't tell WHERE the road is anymore....how and where to stop without freezing during the night or causing an accident if some other car comes by ......how to continue driving without ending in a field (and freeze too) or in another car's behind ... Hell ... the only solution : catch your breath, drive on, and hope that the car remembers that road ....

OH DEAR ME --HOW COULD I FORGET BEING HIT BY A DRUNK DRIVER ?--THAT'S WHY I CAN'T TYPE AS FAST !!

Being broadsided at an intersection by someone running a red light/stop sign.
Spiders and anything with lots of legs.
Snakes as well, though my ex insisted on baby sitting her nieces Boa one summer (interesting story to go with this, hmm, where should I post it?)

I LIKE TO THINK OF MYSELF AS A TOUGH OLD BROAD BUT THERE'S A FEW THINGS I CAN'T STAND
#1--SNAKES--I DON'T CARE IF IT'S A MOVIE OR JUST A PICTURE OF ONE --LAST SUMMMER I TOOK 2 OF MY GREAT NEPHEWS TO THE D.C. ZOO & THAT WAS THE ONLY BUILDING I ENTERED WHERE I FELT I WAS HAVING A HEART ATTACK-----EEEEEEEEWWWWWWWW !
#2--DROWNING---PROBABLY BECAUSE MY BROTHERS USE TO DUNK ME ALL THE TIME--IF I'M IN THE POOL OR THE OCEAN & MY FEET CAN'T TOUCH THE FLOOR I PANIC
#3--FOR SOME STRANGE REASON I'M LEARY OF TEENAGE WAITERS CARRYING PITCHERS OF SODA
