KEEP THE METAL ALIVE

That reminds me of Axl Rose who STILL thinks his band is Guns N' Roses. Just about EVERYBODY knows it's not Guns N' Roses and he still insists on claiming its Gn'R *facepalm*
The most pathetic thing about it all is he promotes his solo band through visuals and audio of Guns N' Roses which they have NOTHING to do wtih.

People aren't used to bands actually BEING bands anymore. Its always one dude, or a group with a guys name in it. I love the expression when I give them the facts of how retarded they are.

i have ran into people to that have made it out like PRIEST is ROB HALFORD THE METAL GOD and then they say he,s a 4 letter h word.then i tell them to go 4 letter f word yourself.well personally i do care to a certain extent about  popularity because it keeps the band alive and if THE METAL GOD and PRIEST were more popular today maybe we would get more TOTAL RUSH OF POWER SCREAMING IN YOUR FACE HEAVY MEEETTT   TTTAAALLL.

Speaking of popularity, I think its ridiculous to see rappers wearing AC/DC shirts. I see people all the time with Back in Black shirts on and can not even name an AC/DC song. Well, the shirt says back in black, you cant even name an AC/DC song......., hmmmm. I am glad Priest shirts are not sold at walmart. I am shocked when people say they ''I love HER music." when I wear an Alice Cooper shirt. Really can people be that stupid?I have people who think that Judas Priest is a person. What is the world coming to? I am a Huge AC/DC fan, but I hate how they play for a more commercial crowd. I hate You shook me all night long, I wouldn't care if they never played it again. I would love to see an AC/DC concert were they played nothing from back in black and played songs from the usually ignored albums like fly on the wall or flick of the switch or powerage. Dont even get me started on Kiss.....

The Rolling Stones, the worlds greatest rock n roll band. Living Legends, right? AND some people think they are a clothing brand. REALLY? ARE YOU KIDDING ME?

You know I dont give a rats ass about popularity, all I can say is Great Music will ALWAYS be great. Pop comes and goes.

Fuck the Posers and Rattle Your Heads!!!!

Correction.....Garage RE-Revisited - This was a release that came out years later. Of course I bought garage days when it first came out but this Electra CD for years was the only place to get it.

Original Garage had all the same songs on both sides (of the cassette).   [Show/Hide Quoted Message] (Quoting Message by Bazooka Joe from Tuesday, November 03, 2009 8:56:24 PM)

I'm with you on Metallica, a fan, but what the hell?!

It sounds like you're describing a type of casual music fan, one that has a band list ranging from Metallica to Miley Cyrus?!  My brother's similar, he likes rap to metal, most of the metal he likes came from my speakers, hehe.  Whatever "sounds cool" for him at the moment is what is on.

I've never seen the Enter Sandman video, but "hair-sprayed curls"?!  This was the band that would mock Motley Crue for wearing make up and grandma's jewelery...

Heh, is Metallica a bigger disappointment than Anthrax even?  LOL.

Ooooh Metallica! I'll admit, I am a Metallica fan, although I am selective about what I like of theirs I guess you could say LOL! Their first 4 albums were awesome, I enjoy the Black Album, after that for me they absolutely lost their way, with songs here and there that I do like to a certain extent. They did a complete 180 turn and came up with all sorts of randomness, for lack of a better word - Reload anyone? For some reason their popularity has endured - it has nothing to do with quality music, and a lot to do with what it perceived as 'cool' to listen to by certain groups of people. You see it in kids a lot, a couple of them like *shudder* Miley Cyrus, a whole bunch of their friends follow suit cos it must be cool. Bizarre logic but it happens LOL!
True metal fans do not like a band/artist because their mates like them, or because they are what is shown by the media to be the best. I think this mentality is especially prevalent in Priest fans Priest will ALWAYS have an enduring popularity thanks to the fact their fans are loyal, and their music absolutely rocks. Bands like Metallica have shown how wavering popularity can really be when it is not justified.

I am even with you on Justice. While there are some songs that I absolutely cherish (wait....let me pull out the album...): Blackened, ummm...Shortest Straw, I can't tell you how much it hurt when they just didn't "let loose" with something like Harvester of Sorrow.

Check this out. I even bought this stupid double CD just for Metallica's version of "Stone Cold Crazy!" Don't know if it shows through the pic but I spent almost $30 for Michael Feinstein, John Zorn, FASTER FUCKIN' PUSSYCAT and some 17 others for one song!! Yeah, I WAS a diehard fan. Makes me wanna puke now. On that note, anyone want a couple of unreleased Tracy Chapman songs? HAAAAA!!!!

Yeah I know it spapad....the next album "The Black Album" was the nail in the coffin.  I know some people on here like this album, but really....it was NOT Metallica at all.

It was far far far too commercial and Hetfield with a pretty-boy hair-sprayed curls for the Enter Sandman video...wtf? lol!  That whole album was so un-Metallica-like....

I remember when that was released and thinking to myself....this band is going down the drain.....but I still thought that someday they may change back......

and then the "Load" album came out...and I said to myself..."This band is done, end of story". And that was in 95' I think? Wow,what a lame outfit they really

have turned into.  I would go as far as saying that Metallica is the WORSE disappointment in "MUSIC HISTORY"....out of all bands of all genres.

I remember bitching about the 1988 "And Justice For All" album, just because they crossed over and did a video(One)...and how it wasn't as good as thier first

3 albums Kill "Em All,Ride The Lightning and Master Of Puppets.......but looking back now...after seeing and hearing everything that came out after And Justice...

it makes "And Justice For All" look like a jewl and makes me wonder...wow....if I only knew how much worse this band was going to get,I would of enjoyed the

Metal is all about popularity. It's about rabble rousing and showing off just how well rebellion can be faked. Rock, Metal, Punk, Pop...same shit with a different name. Metallica or Ozzy, same circus. Career musicians and entertainers, when shit starts they're the first ones running for the exit.

We'll take your word for it I.M.P.!   And yeah...metal doesn't need popularity....it needs "loyalty" from its elite fanbase.

And the shit band "Metallica" is a sad representation of "metal".  The most metal they have been in 20 years is when

they invited King Diamond on stage to play old Mercyful Fate classics, other than that....there is no "metal" left in "Metallica".

That band makes me sick to my freaking stomach they are so lame....I absolutely HATE James Hetfield,...HATE his guts.

To him...old school metal is a mear "joke" as he sports his flip flop sandles and nerd thick glasses and Green Day sweater.

I never get tired of slamming Metallica because they deserve to be slammed....I wish they would just quit and spare us.

THAT is an effing cool image, J.D.  The Halford montage.  (I think that's the proper word, lol)

Anyway, my two cents on popularity:  fuck that!  Look at bands that "make it" big with the "popularity" thing-one example-Metallica.  What the hell is going on with that "band"?  There are tons of examples of bands that've hit huge peaks in popularity and then crashed and burned.  Metal's not about popularity.  Metal is about independence.  Metal is a bunch of things, but popularity is mostly a side affect.  A band that gets popular does so mostly on the basis of things done BEFORE that band got popular anyway.

On the flip side, in my opinion, a band that's gained huge amounts of fans shouldn't be looked down on for that simple fact.  Iron Maiden's more popular with the kids for some reason, I can't explain it.  When I heard Dickinson's voice, I had to get more albums.  Same with Geoff Tate.  For a long time, the classic rock station I grew up listening to would play about half of the songs off of Empire-possibly the most commercial and pop metal album ever.  The same with Metallica's Black Album.  I grew up with these albums, I loved hearing the songs, but these are the "accessable" albums from bands.  Once hearing it, 50 listens later, does it stick?  "Run to the Hills" is no match compared to "Still Life."  Living After Midnight is a fun song, everyone likes it, everyone knows it, but what of Beyond the Realms of Death?  Only a metal head, and more specifically a Priest fan would know and appreciate that song.  Popularity has nothing to do with quality, shouldn't be used as a measuring stick in comparing bands.

Here's a funny thing.  I had in my possession a tape of Screaming for Vengeance as a freshman in high school.  Did I like it at the time?  Nope!  I was heavy into Scorpions, Black Sabbath, Deep Purple, Uriah Heep, Alice in Chains, and Metallica at the time.  I heard You Got Another Thing Coming on the radio a zillion times, so I didn't really think anything of it.  It wasn't until I was handed a copy of Priest's greatest hits as a Junior that my eyes were opened.  What were the songs that "hooked" me?  Number one?  Turbo.  LOL.  It was the most unique song off that disc, and I'd never heard it before.  A close number two was  Metal Meltdown, which had that ripping beginning, Diamonds and Rust had a neat vibe to it, and The Green Manilishi also stuck with me.  From there, l was a fan.

To help. I WAS a fan of Paul but also feel that he was insulting and even is a sad version of his former self. To make fun of Rob while singing his song is just wrong. Plain and simple. Your comment makes absolutely no sense to me.

J.D. It starts at 2:30 where the left guitarist attempts to do the back and forth motion with his guitar - he can't do it well though and still play, HA! Paul looks over at him and laughs. THAT really pisses me off, along with the intro and the "limp wrist" thing ! They can all ! I guess that's all they can say negative about Rob. Not that it's a negative in my opinion but to some it is I guess. I LOVE Halford and I always will - NO MATTER WHAT!!! He is a great guy and would NEVER do anything like this. I will NEVER understand why bands like Metallica and Iron Maiden are more popular than Priest. Somehow those bands were considered "cool" and everyone seemed to jump on the bandwagon. The general public seems to like more simplistic songs. Priest is very complex and has many layers and dimensions to them that a lot of people don't get or appreciate. The lyrics to Priest songs have helped me through many hard times and no other band does that for me. They keep it real. Even though we may not always like what they come out with because we want the PAINKILLER type of albums, they strive to push the Heavy Metal envelope further and further. They are the originals and without Priest paving the way, the rest would not exist.

Sometimes I think that Priest has spoiled us rotten here in the States by playing as many dates in the U.S. as they do. People have to drive far and wide to see Iron Maiden and Metallica, so they do and that's why they pack them in to the arenas. Priest played 4 shows within 6 hours driving distance for us. I can't say the same about Maiden or Metallica. Hell, on the AOR tour, Priest played 3 dates in Michigan alone! I LOVE that they do this, but maybe that's the reason people say, oh, I'll see them next time around?

FOR ME IT WILL ALWAYS BE - JUDAS PRIEST HEEEEAVVVVYYYYYY METAAAAAAAALLLLLLLL!!!

He's not even fit to lick the METAL GODS boots, who does he think he is singing one of his songs? The other thing about this that really pissed me off is when the guitarist on the left started moving his guitar up and down like Glenn and KK do and Paul looked over at him and started laughing. Assholes..... song by a "friend" of mine? In my book, you don't treat your friends with disrespect and mock them. But you got yours Paul.... look at where you are playing and the crowd you are playing to, HA!

He's just pissed that Rob Halford IS and ALWAYS will be THE METAL GOD!!! Everyone knows who Rob Halford is and what an incredible voice he has, whether they are fans or not. Paul Di'anno WHO??? I don't remember anyone crying for HIM to come back like we all did when Rob left Priest.
