That reminds me of Axl Rose who STILL thinks his band is Guns N' Roses. Just about EVERYBODY knows it's not Guns N' Roses and he still insists on claiming its Gn'R *facepalm*
The most pathetic thing about it all is he promotes his solo band through visuals and audio of Guns N' Roses which they have NOTHING to do wtih.

Speaking of popularity, I think its ridiculous to see rappers wearing AC/DC shirts. I see people all the time with Back in Black shirts on and can not even name an AC/DC song. Well, the shirt says back in black, you cant even name an AC/DC song......., hmmmm. I am glad Priest shirts are not sold at walmart. I am shocked when people say they ''I love HER music." when I wear an Alice Cooper shirt. Really can people be that stupid?I have people who think that Judas Priest is a person. What is the world coming to? I am a Huge AC/DC fan, but I hate how they play for a more commercial crowd. I hate You shook me all night long, I wouldn't care if they never played it again. I would love to see an AC/DC concert were they played nothing from back in black and played songs from the usually ignored albums like fly on the wall or flick of the switch or powerage. Dont even get me started on Kiss.....
The Rolling Stones, the worlds greatest rock n roll band. Living Legends, right? AND some people think they are a clothing brand. REALLY? ARE YOU KIDDING ME?
You know I dont give a rats ass about popularity, all I can say is Great Music will ALWAYS be great. Pop comes and goes.

i have ran into people to that have made it out like PRIEST is ROB HALFORD THE METAL GOD and then they say he,s a 4 letter h word.then i tell them to go 4 letter f word yourself.well personally i do care to a certain extent about popularity because it keeps the band alive and if THE METAL GOD and PRIEST were more popular today maybe we would get more TOTAL RUSH OF POWER SCREAMING IN YOUR FACE HEAVY MEEETTT TTTAAALLL. Correction.....Garage RE-Revisited - This was a release that came out years later. Of course I bought garage days when it first came out but this Electra CD for years was the only place to get it.
Original Garage had all the same songs on both sides (of the cassette). [Show/Hide Quoted Message] (Quoting Message by Bazooka Joe from Tuesday, November 03, 2009 8:56:24 PM)

Check this out. I even bought this stupid double CD just for Metallica's version of "Stone Cold Crazy!" Don't know if it shows through the pic but I spent almost $30 for Michael Feinstein, John Zorn, FASTER FUCKIN' PUSSYCAT and some 17 others for one song!! Yeah, I WAS a diehard fan. Makes me wanna puke now. On that note, anyone want a couple of unreleased Tracy Chapman songs? HAAAAA!!!!

We'll take your word for it I.M.P.! And yeah...metal doesn't need popularity....it needs "loyalty" from its elite fanbase.
And the shit band "Metallica" is a sad representation of "metal". The most metal they have been in 20 years is when
they invited King Diamond on stage to play old Mercyful Fate classics, other than that....there is no "metal" left in "Metallica".

THAT is an effing cool image, J.D. The Halford montage. (I think that's the proper word, lol)
Anyway, my two cents on popularity: fuck that! Look at bands that "make it" big with the "popularity" thing-one example-Metallica. What the hell is going on with that "band"? There are tons of examples of bands that've hit huge peaks in popularity and then crashed and burned. Metal's not about popularity. Metal is about independence. Metal is a bunch of things, but popularity is mostly a side affect. A band that gets popular does so mostly on the basis of things done BEFORE that band got popular anyway.
On the flip side, in my opinion, a band that's gained huge amounts of fans shouldn't be looked down on for that simple fact. Iron Maiden's more popular with the kids for some reason, I can't explain it. When I heard Dickinson's voice, I had to get more albums. Same with Geoff Tate. For a long time, the classic rock station I grew up listening to would play about half of the songs off of Empire-possibly the most commercial and pop metal album ever. The same with Metallica's Black Album. I grew up with these albums, I loved hearing the songs, but these are the "accessable" albums from bands. Once hearing it, 50 listens later, does it stick? "Run to the Hills" is no match compared to "Still Life." Living After Midnight is a fun song, everyone likes it, everyone knows it, but what of Beyond the Realms of Death? Only a metal head, and more specifically a Priest fan would know and appreciate that song. Popularity has nothing to do with quality, shouldn't be used as a measuring stick in comparing bands.
Here's a funny thing. I had in my possession a tape of Screaming for Vengeance as a freshman in high school. Did I like it at the time? Nope! I was heavy into Scorpions, Black Sabbath, Deep Purple, Uriah Heep, Alice in Chains, and Metallica at the time. I heard You Got Another Thing Coming on the radio a zillion times, so I didn't really think anything of it. It wasn't until I was handed a copy of Priest's greatest hits as a Junior that my eyes were opened. What were the songs that "hooked" me? Number one? Turbo. LOL. It was the most unique song off that disc, and I'd never heard it before. A close number two was Metal Meltdown, which had that ripping beginning, Diamonds and Rust had a neat vibe to it, and The Green Manilishi also stuck with me. From there, l was a fan. |

Well, like most here, I AM a Maiden fan (pre-Fear, to be sure) but I have absolutely NO clue what your comment to me actually means. Perhaps you could dumb it down a bit but it seems to contraditct itself in one sentence.
To help. I WAS a fan of Paul but also feel that he was insulting and even is a sad version of his former self. To make fun of Rob while singing his song is just wrong. Plain and simple. Your comment makes absolutely no sense to me. Why don't you two just openly profess your love for J.D. and get over it?! Tell him how you want to hold and carress him! For if you don't have a big massive crush on him then you must just envy him because he has something you don't, and never will.
Class, and respect from the membership. Yes just fall to you knees and openly worship him, you know you want to! Do you have a shrine built to him in some secret back bedroom? I bet 'cha do! |

J.D. It starts at 2:30 where the left guitarist attempts to do the back and forth motion with his guitar - he can't do it well though and still play, HA! Paul looks over at him and laughs. THAT really pisses me off, along with the intro and the "limp wrist" thing ! They can all ! I guess that's all they can say negative about Rob. Not that it's a negative in my opinion but to some it is I guess. I LOVE Halford and I always will - NO MATTER WHAT!!! He is a great guy and would NEVER do anything like this. This just shows Paul's lack of character. [Show/Hide Quoted Message] (Quoting Message by J.D. DIAMOND from Saturday, July 25, 2009 2:19:36 PM) | | J.D. I will NEVER understand why bands like Metallica and Iron Maiden are more popular than Priest. Somehow those bands were considered "cool" and everyone seemed to jump on the bandwagon. The general public seems to like more simplistic songs. Priest is very complex and has many layers and dimensions to them that a lot of people don't get or appreciate. The lyrics to Priest songs have helped me through many hard times and no other band does that for me. They keep it real. Even though we may not always like what they come out with because we want the PAINKILLER type of albums, they strive to push the Heavy Metal envelope further and further. They are the originals and without Priest paving the way, the rest would not exist.
Sometimes I think that Priest has spoiled us rotten here in the States by playing as many dates in the U.S. as they do. People have to drive far and wide to see Iron Maiden and Metallica, so they do and that's why they pack them in to the arenas. Priest played 4 shows within 6 hours driving distance for us. I can't say the same about Maiden or Metallica. Hell, on the AOR tour, Priest played 3 dates in Michigan alone! I LOVE that they do this, but maybe that's the reason people say, oh, I'll see them next time around?
FOR ME IT WILL ALWAYS BE - JUDAS PRIEST HEEEEAVVVVYYYYYY METAAAAAAAALLLLLLLL!!!
