TOPIC: Are Priest still metal?
[Bazookajoe_666] Tuesday, January 13, 2009 10:59:33 AM
Really? Wow I didn't know that haha. There is a reason Ripper is not considered one of the top 4 metal singers, and Rob. But if he likes Tim over Rob, fair enough, but to say Ripper is a better singer, that's just retarded haha.

But again, he's pretty ignorant to facts of things and how things are. Probably not even aware that there is a difference between Singers and Vocalists.

Singers:
Rob Halford
Bruce Dickinson
Goeff Tate
Ronnie James Dio can also sing when he chooses.

Vocalists:
Ripper
James Hetfield
Tom Araya
Axl Rose for the most part. He ain't much of a singer.

Also for Numero Uno on the arguement of metal and classical/orchestra whatever arguement:

Look up some Iron Maiden songs done on Piano on youtube. You might be surprised how "classical" they are. And if you actually argue that Maiden aren't a metal band, I'm gonna have to assume you have something wrong with you.
This is the arguement I've been saying. METAL HAS CLASSICAL elements that work amazingly well with orchestras and whatnot. NOT all of it is or can, but for the most part, most of it does work well. Whether you want to admit it or not. But then again I wouldn't expect you to know that really because all you listen to is screaming heavy metal 24/7. Open your mind man, I don't want to argue with you over what you think isn't a fact, but actually is.

Back to Maiden songs on Piano. If you put an orchestra behind that, it'd sound amazing and exactly like those old composers hundreds of years ago, EXACTLY. Listen to Sanitarium done on the piano (the not thrash parts), it sounds like it was written for piano.

Now bands like Slayer and what not don't work well, because that would sound like shit on a piano.

Look at all the bands that have used orchestras in there music and it turned out great.

Priest.
Metallica.
Maiden.
Scorpions.
Nightwish.
etc.

About the Metal: A Headbanger's Journey, because I know your too ignorant to even read my post:

I didn't form any of my opinions or even pretty much learned anything from the movie that I don't already know. It's just a very well done documentry on metal, and most of it's genres in general. Have you seen it? If you did, you'll know the thing I'm talking about at the first of it when he explains the connection to classical music.

And like I said IN MY OTHER POST. I didn't learn that from the DVD, I've been saying that for years because I realized the connection by myself, because I have an open mind to ALL types of music. Not saying that's better, it just helps a lot forming opinions and respecting music.
