TOPIC: Are Priest still metal?
[J.D. DIAMOND] Sunday, April 19, 2009 4:55:17 PM

I agree with Numero Uno,with the Shitallica and Symphony clip that he has given as an example here.  Another example is the terrible album of "Nostradamus".Sorry people but Nostradamus is not a heavy metal album sprinkled with a little "opera".

It is an "Opera album" sprinkled with a little heavy metal....a little.

On Angel Of Retribution...they did the track "Elegy" which has atmosphere with the instraments such as keyboards and piano..ect..but that is a small part to the album which is used the right way.

It is not a long boring song, just a song that leaves you no option but to like it.   If it were 10 minutes long...it would be the worst part on the album...even worse than the only bad track on the album in "Lochness" which is tough to get any worse(lol!)

Its ok to use some classical elements into the album if its done the right way. Take Ronnie James Dio's "Magica" for example...that is the correct way to add classical elements into a real "Heavy Metal" album.Magica is definately a "heavy metal " album, even though it has loads of instraments in it that Nostradamus has....you never look at Magica as being "over-done" or an "overkill of opera/classical elements" like Nostradamus is.

Nostradamus leaves you with the sensation that you did not just hear a heavy metal album. There is far not enough heavy metal in Nostradamus, not near enough.
