You are definately a loser and a jerk. Insulting people for where they're from just because they don't agree with you about the stupid Nostradamus cd with your expletive ridden tirades. Lording over the site with your pompous views on metal. Telling people they better step the fuck back and that they better not come around here insulting you by disagreeing with you. Trying to act all tough like you're someone not to be messed with. Don't know who you think you are, but to me you come across as a loser. [Show/Hide Quoted Message] (Quoting Message by J.D. But the Nostradamus album IS NOT METAL. It has "SOME" metal in it,but as a whole ...it is simply not a METAL album. Why is this so hard for people to understand here? Its not rocket science guys.
And to "Coilerine"......its not about randomly "insulting" each other without a reason,it is about posting a post in a respectful mannor without being a smartass to people like SadWingsRaging has done along with jimmyjames as well...both smartass members who don't learn what they read before opening up thier mouths and removing all doubt. | | Numero Uno wrote: | | Man you are 100% exactly right about Nostradamus. Its an opera album with just a little bit of metal thrown in. I only like about 3 or 4 songs on that cd. It eems llike there are a 100 songs on that thing and it goes on and on and on with just a few good metal moments here and there. I just don't care for the orchestra stuff. If they go out and do Nostradamus with an orchestra like Metallica did it would be pretty sad. | | J.D. DIAMOND wrote: | |
I agree with Numero Uno,with the Shitallica and Symphony clip that he has given as an example here. Another example is the terrible album of "Nostradamus".Sorry people but Nostradamus is not a heavy metal album sprinkled with a little "opera".
It is an "Opera album" sprinkled with a little heavy metal....a little.
On Angel Of Retribution...they did the track "Elegy" which has atmosphere with the instraments such as keyboards and piano..ect..but that is a small part to the album which is used the right way.
It is not a long boring song, just a song that leaves you no option but to like it. If it were 10 minutes long...it would be the worst part on the album...even worse than the only bad track on the album in "Lochness" which is tough to get any worse(lol!)
Its ok to use some classical elements into the album if its done the right way. Take Ronnie James Dio's "Magica" for example...that is the correct way to add classical elements into a real "Heavy Metal" album.Magica is definately a "heavy metal " album, even though it has loads of instraments in it that Nostradamus has....you never look at Magica as being "over-done" or an "overkill of opera/classical elements" like Nostradamus is.
Nostradamus leaves you with the sensation that you did not just hear a heavy metal album. There is far not enough heavy metal in Nostradamus, not near enough.

You seem to like orchestration mixed in with the metal you listen to. Fine with me. I like real hardcore metal without that stuff. Here's a good reason orchestra doesn't belong in metal music.

Alright I forgot about this thread, and the fact that I said I said I'd stay out. Oh well, too late now.
So how am I a piece of work though? You didn't read a single one of my posts, that was pretty obvious right from the start, and you can't even come up with decent arguements for what you were saying. So again I'll ask...
How are Priest not classically influenced and why is anything classical/orchestral/opera NOT a part of metal? I already explained all this, but you haven't come up with 1 excuse (not even a bad one). You just say "it's gay, orchestra music sucks". Seriously dude, I would love to actually see you at least TRY to participate in this arguement.
Here are some facts:
- Glenn Tipton himself will tell you Priest's music and his guitar playing is heavily influenced by classical playing. That doesn't mean Just Nostradamus. That means his guitar playing, and Priest's music, NOT album.
-It's a well know FACT that Metal is indeed heavily influenced in classical music. Like I said, look up Iron Maiden's music. There is nothing sad about it, your just extremely closed minded and can't understand that "Metal" ISN'T just one sound and feeling.
-Metal draws it's roots from deep in the blues, rock n roll, and classical music.
