As you mentioned, it is different for everyone. To me, Painkiller represents a time in my life when I was straying from Priest's music. I had really not paid a lot of attention to them for a while and then Painkiller was released. It had a sound that reminded me of the older, classic Priest and I fell in love with it. There has been some debate over British Steel, and all but I like the album. Period. I do not see how that qualifies me as a "sheep" or a "fanboy" or any other juvenile insult. Those that like Turbo are welcome to that opinion. I do not care for it. Don't hate it. I just do not have it in my top five. Same with Point of Entry and Rockarolla. Does not mean they are bad albums.  I think the best part in all of this is that we all have our opinions and we all can agree we LOVE the Band. I'm very happy that all priest albums are different...because that's what we love of music, its variability and the capability of our musicians, our artists to show what they can do...if all albums are just the same I would probably think that the members of that band don't know how to play a guitar or the drums because all tracks are just a copy of any other... to conclude...there's no band keeping the same style in one album or another...every album is a new experience, and every album should have its own mysticism and its own spirit in its own way!
