Where have you been? Where are you going? Where would you like to go?

Okay folks, I need a little help here.  Without going into detail, I'm taking a long weekend trip this weekend...something I haven't done in a very very long time.  I haven't flown since '87 and as the time draws near I'm having a really difficult time wrapping my mind around the idea of plane travel and am getting more and more nervous as the day draws near (Friday).  I've always considered myself to be a strong willed person, but this is really affecting me...no appetite, naseau, unfocused at work, etc...is there anyone that can help me out with this???  Please...???

Yup. I saw it on National Geographic. One of those shows that explains amazing structures and how they were built.

Basicaly, they put it on top of a cliff where the slope is very steep. Now, I dont know if the entire platform is glass, but some of it certainly is...

I would go on it... IDK exactly how high it is, but if I made it through the Alps on my way to Germany... Well, if nothing else, I have at least some experience... Lol...

Holy crap!! They built a glass platform there?!? Heck, I wouldn't even set foot onto that thing!! I would just walk down to the bottom, or maybe get there by donkey or mule.

I just looked back on those pics you mentioned, and it really looks cool... Very breathtaking indeed.

Yup, a steam train sounds nice, tho what I would probably consider is that platform thingy I saw on TV. Aparently, they built a glass platform over the edge of the cliff, so you can walk over the edge of it, and see straight down into the abyss... Must remember to pack some dipers, if I ever go there.

Hey Strat!

I've been to the Grand Canyon about seven years ago. I posted pics of it in this thread a while back. My family and I went there during the summer, so it was very hot. We stayed in a small village nearby and got to the canyon itself by train (an old steam train, that is). If you love breathtaking desert scenery, then that's the place to go. One might even say that it looks like something out of one of those classic cowboy movies. The "hole in the ground", as many like to call it, extends for miles and you can see alot of rock layers! There are tours where you could go all the way to the bottom of the canyon, although I heard that they are pretty expensive. You can also go river rafting in the Colorado River, which is at the bottom of the canyon. We simply walked along the ledge of the canyon, taking in the scenery.
Glad you're considering it, though. It's a great place to do some sight-seeing! I'm hoping to go back someday.

That's Kewl! I imagine the stairs would be a much longer trip to the area.  If I paid for the cable car, I would have done the same thing you did.
There's a place in Charlotte that's a Microbrew, love to go to it every now and again. It's Got the Huge Barrels right there in the area you dine in! It's probably falling out of favor now, because it was a "trendy" spot, but very unique place.

You talking about the waterfall shot? If so, they are stairs. You could go up in a cable car of take the stairs. I was in a rush so took the cable car up but crossed the bridge, went to the top of the stairs for more pix and then wanted to kick myself because I bought a round trip ticket and wanted to take the stairs back down. While in a hurry as I wanted to catch the Basilica and the Ile, the cheapskate in me didn't want to let the "ride back" ticket go to waste so I walked all the way back to take the car down.

That microbrew was great for any beer snob (um...me). Summer Ale made right on the spot. Yummmm.....

That said, anyone been to the Grand Canyon? Not Canada, I know, but Id like to hear more about that too.

Returned from the Great White North late last night. Still have yet to upload the traditional "JP Cross pic" (still haven't decided) but three more.

First was two days ago when I rented a car and drove all around the Ile d'Orléans. Just had to see the waterfall on the way.

AH, the little pleasures of life! Wonderful microbrew.

Finally, you think the Chateau was beautiful during the day, check it out at night! Breathtaking...
Shot taken from the ferry crossing the St. Lawrence.

Greetings from the land I supposedly .... um... hate...yeah right. Just a quick check-in from beautiful Québec. Day two and all is absolutely wonderful. Staying right at the Chateau Frontenac (yeah yeah, leaving off a diacritic, sue me) and I am certainly giving my rusty French a workout. Brought gym clothes and am laughing as I have walked MILES up 45 degree hills for two days now. Nope, don't think I'll be doing much running.

About to hit the town again but a quick check-in. Just for all y'alls. Three pics for now: exterior of the Frontenac and what the "moderate" priced room gets you here! LOL!!! I did my best to give a Freeze-like pose staring off into the glory of...errrm..I think that is an air-conditioning unit out my third-floor window. Either that or a dumpster. HAAAA! Photo three is me sticking my camera right up to the window shooting up so you can see what I was pondering so thoughtfully in my "view." Yeah, might not be San Diego but I don't spend much time in the room. Speaking of which...off I go. Nine pm. Dinner and a draft! Cheers to all!

WHATTA VIEW! HAA! Nope, no "Fred the seagull."

My actual view...if I stretch my neck.

It is remarkably soothing, isn't it? We sat out on the balcony and watched the sailboats while eating pizza on Saturday after the ballgame! It was really nice. The fireworks were awesome but, sadly, the camera we had was really not good for night pics and so none of them came out and I had to scrap them.

GREAT bird stories!!! Actually, last night was kind of funny. Seems ol' Fred (or one of his cousins) was feeling a bit "peckish" and was eyeing a half- empty table on the patio near where we were eating. He was very methodical...kept his distance. Kept his eye on the "prize". Got chased a couple times by the waiter but...inched slowly closer. Finally he made his move...jumped up on the table, nabbed a piece of bread and shot away!! Was quite entertaining to watch!!! HAAAAAAAAAAA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
