You know, I think Point of Entry and Turbo is underestimated.
Point of Entry is a great album with a lot of great songs, such as Hot Rockin', Desert Plains, Don't go, Turning Circles etc..
And Turbo too. It sounds great with synthesizers!
Two of the greatest albums of all time. CLASSICS!

The embarassing part of the story is not the song, which I love by the way, but you admitted to driving a Pontiac 6000 !

lol! I know, ron and guido my opinion isn't the right one,its just one persons opinion out of millions of Judas Priest fans. But its fun to compare songs and albums even if your outlook is different. Hey,has anyone ever thought that there may not be a next studio album? The band hasn't peeped one word about it this year, who knows? That would suck.

As long as we are on this topic, no "sorry" necessary. I stick by my guns. I flipped a Pontiac 6000 doing 100MPH+ to "Locked in."  I can look back and laugh now but that album meant a lot to me back in the day. I WILL say that I didn't like "Turbo Lover" in the second to last tour. Brought it all to a screeching halt, I say.

I also await a KILLER new album from the One and Only. In the meantime, I am trying to figure out how to wrap work around Halford / Ozzfest! I am looking at IL (first) or PA for anyone who can join me.

Lol isn't it weird (in a good way) how everyone has different opinions on this...

JD..You know what kind of music i love(and play) but believe it or not it was the songs from Turbo that got me into JP!! A friend of mine gave me a copy of Priest..live and i thought
'Out in the cold' and 'Rock u all around the world' kicked ass!! but my favourite from the dvd is 'Desert Plains'.

I guess if it wasn't for those songs i wouldn't have got in to Defenders..Ram it down or painkiller.
[ron h] Sunday, May 09, 2010 1:56:42 PM
Yeah J.D., I can't (and won't) argue with you (or anyone else) about these 2 releases because they are at the bottom of my Priest release fave list (POE being at the bottom and Turbo the next to last).  The only thing keeping me from calling Turbo crap also is that it's what brought my kids into the Priest fold (Kevin has moved on to the heavier Priest, Turbo Lover is Bri's fave).  All that being said, I love Priest and their music and have bought all of their releases at one time or another (Rock'a Rolla on 8-track  lol).  As mentioned earlier, and I think you and I have debated this in the past, Turbo is what I consider a gateway album as a way to introduce Priest to the not so Metal community (family / friends), much more so than POE or any of their other releases, which is why I'll call Turbo a classic...used very loosely in this thread.  lol

(I otherwise wholeheartedly agree with you )

Point Of Entry "CRAP"? Turbo "CLASSIC"? LOL! All I have to say is "WOW".  Yes Point Of Entry is not the greatest, but it kicks the shit out of "Turbo" in my books. The 4 embarrassing songs on the album are Don't Go,You Say Yes,Trouble Shooter and All The Way. The On The Run track is dull but passable.

Turbo's entire side one is utterly embarrasing! Turbo lover,Locked In is total shit(sorry Ron & Guido this song fuckin sucks! HAHA)Private Property,Parental Guidance and Rock You All Around The World...all 5 songs are Priest at thier lowest point in theier career. Out In The cold is not shining Judas Priest,Wild Nights is way but too poppy,Hot For Love is embarrasing and Reckless is alright.

9 songs off the Turbo album and only one song is passable "Reckless" the other 8 are shit. And not to mention the image of Turbo...YUK,the "sound" of Turbo is trendy and unacceptable.Point Of Entry was a let down coming off British Steel but nowhere near the letdown Turbo was coming off an album titled 'Defenders Of the Faith"? What were they thinking?

Jimmy thinks Hot Rockin is lame,I can't fathom that but if that is lame then what is side one of Turbo? lol! At least Point Of Entry has 5 good songs, even take one away ...4 good songs and Turbo has one.Turbo is Judas Priest's worst album of all time, even worse than Nostradamus but I'm glad you enjoy it Ron,if I ever hear that album again "it will be too soon"!!!!!! Arrghh I fuckin hate that album with a freakin passion!!

Ok, I've stared at this thread long enough...

Point of Entry...at the time it came it was on the heels of British Steel, so I felt like I totally wasted my money at the time.  Priest were getting harder and faster the last several releases and POE was a complete buzzkill by comparison.  All I can remember thinking (at the time) was that I couldn't wait for the next album.  Being 15 or so at the time, I was a bit rebelious and the album as a whole was a drag.  I'd like to say that as the years have gone by, I now appreciate it more than then, but I don't.  I like the message of Heading Out to the Highway, but have grown bored of the music itself.  I can listen to the album now and enjoy it to a degree as it's Priest, but the album just drags.

Turbo...most of you (ahem) 'old-timers' here at the Board already know how I feel, but just to re-cap...at the time I was totally embarassed and thought it sucked!!  I mean, I wouldn't even play it after the first listen!!  The difference between Turbo and POE is that over time I have come to enjoy it...to a point!!  A couple of songs still makes the hair on the back of my neck stand up (YES, even to this day lol ...Parental Guidance and Private Property).  When Turbo came out I was married, in the Marines and had been halfway around the world and back and I just couldn't relate to this teeny-bop type of music.  As the (my) kids grew up and sampled my music, they liked Turbo for it being up-beat and catchy compared to alot of the other music...at least it was Priest (I said to myself...many many times  lol).  I do like the songs Locked In and Reckless and can pretty much listen to the entire CD now (with the 2 above mentioned excluded).

Classic or Crap??  My opinion is that POE is Crap and Turbo is Classic for very different reasons, but I have and will listen to both again many times before my number is called.
[soccer star] Sunday, May 09, 2010 10:19:21 AM
Wouldn't it funny if Next year Priest celebrated 30 years of Pint Of Entry by touring and playing the album start to finish lol I would pay to see it.

I would like to see em play more song's off POE & TURBO on their next tour and maybe a couple from Ram It Down...the solo's on the title track are FANTASTIC!!!
[Becks] Friday, May 07, 2010 6:19:38 PM
That's basically how I feel about Turbo too, it's ok, has a few good songs, some craptacular ones, as a whole, meh compared to DOTF, SFV etc.

The Don't Go video cracks me up! lol  All the Way is pure crap and makes me sick, You Say Yes is even worse, and then finally Trouble Shooter takes all the crap, rolls it into one, and makes you vomit, or at the very least hit skip almost immediatly.  I can deal with On the Run, not a fave but not tragic.

Haha I love Hot Rockin, it cracks me up. I just find it a good song to listen to and enjoy for what it is, a bit of silliness.
I think Reckless is a great track off Turbo, I also enjoy Out in the Cold and Locked In is alright too.

I hardly ever listen to Turbo but I have to say the only song off it I find stupidly annoying is Parental Guidance. The rest of it I can take or leave. On Point Of Entry there's three songs I can't stand, Hot Rockin' as you know, You Say Yes and Don't Go. The other four songs, Troubleshooter, On The Run, Turning Circles and All The Way, I can take or leave. I find it hard to imagine you getting into Turning Circles.

Well thats your opinion and your definately entitled to it,but in my opinion Hot Rockin' blows the shit out of ANY song off Turbo. And Turning Circles is a good track too. The 5 songs that I think are crap are Don't Go,You Say Yes,Trouble Shooter,All The Way and On The Run.  And Nostradamus vs.Turbo,I'd take Nostradamus but not by much,at least they don't look like a bunch of glam posers on that album/live show lol!

[jimmyjames] Thursday, May 06, 2010 11:39:30 PM

86 was a shit year for metal. However of all the corny, commercial, light metal albums Tubo is the best. Priest had a crack at taking on the likes of Europe, Ratt and Dokken and all those other god awful bands at their own game and beat them in my opinion. Turbo is pretty average in comparison to DOTF, SWOD, Stained Class, SFV, BS but it's so much better and has stood the test of time better than everything else that came out at that time. I walked into a bar in Vancouver a couple of years ago and Turbo Lover was cranking and the bar was going off, people were loving it. So anyway Turbo is a classic, probably one of the best light commercial metal albums ever. I've gotten way more enjoyment from Turbo than Nostradamus.

Point Of Entry has three great, classic metal songs, Desert Plains, Heading Out To The Highway and Solar Angels. The rest of it is crap. Everyone seems to like the song Hot Rockin' but I think it's a fucking stupid, shitty song and probably the second worst on the album after You Say Yes. Still though based on the strength of those three songs I would have to say it's a classic as they are that good. If I was compiling a 20 song Priest setlist Desert Plains, HOTTH and Solar Angels would be on it. Not sure if any of their other albums would get three songs in a dream setlist. There's not one song on Nostradamus that would make that setlist.

So in summation both are classics.

I think both are great albums, and i agree with you soccer star, it would be great if they could play songs like heading out to the highway, solar angels or turbo lover, but there are plenty of good stuff in Priest...

I like First Half of POE, and Desert Plains song, about Turbo, well probably my less favorite album of the band after Rocka Rolla(solid hards rock, but I'm fan of Priest most for the Metal era), just a couple of good songs, out in the cold, turbo lover and rock you around all the world....yeah, I actually like that song...a lot!! blame me but is catchy!!ha!!.

I love the POE album. I thought it was great. Very underated IMO. My favorite video of Priest's is "Heading out the the Highway"  also one of my favorite inspirational songs. Turbo.....well the guys looked hot during that era (well, which era did they not look hot in?)  I do like the music but it is not at the top of the list.

I have been a long time Priest fan, since I was about 13 years old. I am currently almost 40 (YIKES) I have almost every cassette tape, including the Rocka Rolla from Canada, I had to literally retape it as I love the whole thing, and I could not bear that it might be lost to a sullen tape player. I love these guys, hope I am like respectful enough to become a part of this site. I am also an artist that has drawn KK Downing in pencil, many of the JP album covers(God, do albums still exist??!!) and I just fuckin love you guys!! And you too, Ripper Owens!!!!!!! Peace out and hope ya like this shit!! By the way, yes, I do own Cd's!!!!!

I think POE is VERY underrated. There's some really great songs on that album, I really enjoy it. Turbo has some songs on it I like, but as a whole is meh. Reckless kicks ass though lol.
