I read about a cop a week or so ago, convicted of assault and battery got a year in jail and tossed from the force. thing is he caught a scumbag IN THE ACT of raping a 21 month old kid.
while thats extreme scumbag stuff, cops see shit all the time that would drive most of us to kill somone.
Headbanger, I like you so I'm not going to get into a back and forth or argue that I'm right or that you're not.
We're entitled to our opinions and if you believe most cops are good cops then so be it. (Quoting Message by Head banger from Wednesday, December 21, 2011 8:06:54 AM)

I don't care if a single person agrees with me or not. My local newspaper ran a headline
yesterday that said "Cop killer killed by police". A guy got pulled over and received two tickets.
He got out of his car and shot two cops. Then he walked up to one and shot him in the head
and killed him. Swat killed him at his residence after a standoff.
After what I saw today I'm glad people shoot these thug bastards. The funny thing about the
guy here is that he was a former cop. Maybe he saw too much and decided a little retribution
was in order. Cop thuggery is not an isolated occurence, it happens on a daily basis.

I am so very very sorry Dave. Please be strong for each other and know that we are all here for you when and if you need us.
Thanx. y'all.. Well they checked 3 different times yesterday during the ultrasound and found no heartbeat.. We got pictures from it though, we're gunna frame them, esp. the ones where it has it's hand up, almost like it was waving goodbye to us..
Still, the worst part will be Monday morning, when they'll have her actually deliver it since it's at 22 weeks... We're both trying hard to keep it together, but I know for a fact Christmas this year will be very, very sad.. That, and our 2 year is on the 18th, so that'll be a big blow for us, too... And my grandpa died a few months ago as well to cancer.
I still must Thank all you for the kind words. I keep reminding her that we'll have a baby one day. We were joking around though, since she was ssaying, "Would you leave me for this?" And, naturally, my response was, "If we've been through tornados, heartbreak, terrible fights, loss of our friends, family struggles (like my parents wanting my attention since they were going through a divorce...), and everything in between and farther.. What else is there to do but keep loving you? Nothing else can try to tear us apart."
I just keep believing that one day we'll have our baby to hold.

TRIPPED OVER A ROCKING CHAIR LITTLE WHILE AGO NEARLY FELL ON MY FACE AND IT STABBED ME IN THE SIDE OF THE FOOT.PISS ME OFF
WHERE IS THAT STEEL PIPE OF MINE I SEEM TO HAVE MISPLACED IT
I´m so angry and want everybody to understand that life is not just rock n roll, party and judas priest!
There are certain things that need to be said:
In asia they have somthing called bearfarms. In these farms bears are keep for their whole life, maybe for 25 years.
The bears are kept there to be used as living sacrifices to the industry of bear biling. They do surgical operations on the poor animals bodys and drain them of bile - WITHOUT any form of sedation.
They are kept in tiny cages for years without relief!
Think for yourself - how would it feel to be looked up for the rest of your life in a cage that is circa 4 times 3 feet and everyday have to go through surgery WITHOUT sedation everyday, never to be able to kill yourself to get away.
I know what you are thinking! What has this to do with Judas Priest?
Well, first - is something, anything pissing you up, say it here...
Secondly - this is so important that I really don´t give a damn!
Look at this clips and if you have a heart - do something about it!
EXCELLENT THE MIGHTY PRIEST ARE STORMING BACK AND ARE GONNA TOTALLY SMOKE MAIDEN

Well, after a month+ since they sent the email saying it was in the mail + a few unanswered emails, I managed to get a human voice in New York today. However, what may have helped you at that time, and in the future, would have been to remember that the members of our beloved Judas Priest are no less human than we are. It was your placing them upon a pedastal that created the nervousness. I know it doesn't help now, but it may in the future, if you ever have another chance. Keep the faith my friend!
What would you have asked them, if I may be so bold?

It's too easy to turn my back on the world...and moon everyone in it! However, I thank God that I have Jesus' strength in me to resist! For surely, I find that the "world" finds it easy to turn it's back on me, with the exception of a few who choose to suffer with me. I thank those for their support, friendship, and love! But, that's too easy to do. Truelly...I thank those who turned their backs...It made me turn to God! Edited at: Thursday, October 06, 2011 2:37:35 PM

Biggest thing pissing me off: STILL no date for Minnesota, at all!!? What the hell is going on!? Not even a Wisconsin show, either... F*ck going to Missouri.. And still not 21, so no Illinois show for me... This sucks!! C'mon Priest, you did 2 shows during your 'British Steel Anniversarry' tour here in MN, give us something now!

Building products these days are just not what they use to be. I'm tired of going to places like Home Depot and paying good money and the stuff turns out like crap. It's really getting on my nerves big time. They should be held accountable for some of the crap they sell.

If you can buy yourself knick-knacks and shit every single day - you can put some of that to help animals instead!
Thanks to all who cares!

Thanks, that was an interesting read. For once someone wrote about the matter in a neutral way, instead of accusing either side.
Thanks also for reminding me about the correct technological terms - for a non-native speaker it's not always easy to figure out the correct ones. From now on I won't use "rip" when talking about simple digitizing of analog material.
The addition of this "anti-piracy" system to ISP EULAs is just another example of corporations trampling on human rights to further extend their status and generate even more money to themselves. By doing this they're only making themselves look ridiculous again. Instead of combating the actual crime (the ones who share the files; like I said earlier you can find numerous sources with even a simple Google search), they're attacking the downloaders by severely limiting their privacy. In fact, while in Finland the ISPs aren't (yet) allowed to do that, a recently-passed law now allows for the police to remotelycrack into your computer, bypassing/deactivating any security features on it, if you're even suspected of any sort of crime. Previously that was only allowed in serious crimes and only with a special permission by the attorney.
NTSC v. PAL made sense back in the day when the appliances could only use one format, but nowadays most of them can use both formats. It's current purpose is, like the DVD region codes, only to increase sales.
I also don't believe that piracy is a key factor in Priest releasing compilations. Maybe they have a contrast clause that says "release X amount of albums", and because they're unlikely to release more than a couple of albums worth of new material anymore, they use compilations to fill in. Or then Sony noticed that "hey Judas Priest is getting popular again, why not capitalize on it?".

Interesting to know about the Finnish copyright laws, Nupe. Like I said, I really couldn't speak about them. I would think that any problems you'd have would come from within Finland, though. Not really what I was describing with the US and Canada being so heavy-handed about file sharing vis a vis the new EULA "voluntarily giving up Constitutional rights" (no other way to phrase it, really, as they aren't laws). While the US and Canada have an open agreement now to turn over any violator, it isn't currently so with most nations. That is why many tapers who are sharing shows will be explicit in saying "don't share this with any other person from, say, Brazil" for example. Piracy or, even worse as you say the SELLING of shows is just too rampant. It IS moving that direction, though. Why people are still allowed to sell downloaded shows on eBay is just beyond me. True scum, as you say.
You still aren't technically "ripping" when you convert a VHS to DVD, though. Like I said, that is more a conversion / transcode by definition as there is no security you are bypassing. You "rip" a movie, for example when you make a copy as you are "ripping" the CSS protection as well as the many devices that prohibit you from fast-forwarding over the previews as I am sure you know.
For the record, when I made my own backup copy of the NTSC version of the VHS, it was for the exact same reason. Didn't want the tape to degrade. I used an external firewire Pinnacle system converter and it turned out very nicely. Especially when I put in the menus. Curious part? I would not be able to legally share it with you as US / Canada law specifically prohibits me (with a legal version of the tape / legal version of the digitized version of the tape) to share it with you (who also owns a legal version of the tape). Why? NTSC vs. PAL!! Does that suck or what?
Don't get me started on the Region Code Nazi's!!
Want an interesting read? Try Quinn Norton's comments on Pirate Bay in the link below. I love the way she writes. She makes some very interesting points about Sweden and the Netherlands and THEIR laws.
I originally took that digital copy only for myself as well, but then I thought "it's been out of print for 17 years, the band and the record label are no longer receiving any money from it's sales, and no DVD reissue is in sight (and probably never will)". So, I then decided to upload it. I had previously shared a few out-of-print single B-sides on my site, but when the Single Cuts boxset was announced, I immediately removed them as an official CD release was to be soon available. I would do exactly the same if the Metal Works VHS received a reissue in any form. And no, the Finnish copyright laws aren't any more relaxed than in the USA, but so far I've avoided any trouble.
I love the band and am usually against sharing official material over the internet. If someone puts their whole official discography/videography (that you can easily buy legally from anywhere) on the net (just Google search and you get tons of results), I loathe it. If someone sells bootlegs, I loathe it as well. But if someone shares a release that's been out-of print for over a decade, the band no longer receives any money from it (as all the copies on the market are second-hand) and it isn't receiving a reissue anytime soon, let's just say that I won't feel too bad about it. I did think about putting the VHS-rip on the web for quite a while, but if it offends the other fans too much, I can still remove it. Would only take a couple of minutes, it's a pretty crappy rip anyway...
Oh and J.D. Diamond, I'm not going to buy the Chosen Few, even though I bought the Single Cuts boxset. That compilation offers nothing new to me, unlike the boxset which at least has single B-sides I couldn't have gotten before because of my young age (and lack of funds - old vinyl singles are pretty expensive these days). That's why I haven't bought any Judas Priest compilations at all - I could always make the exact same compilation from the albums I've already bought.

Like I said, I am with you about the dubious reason as to why Priest is releasing these new "Best of" albums. Certainly isn't because of illegal downloading, to be sure.
The rule that is has been the norm (in both the US and Canada) is that you can legally "transcode" a video / music you legally own. It has always been the case and a major reason as to why the digital media rights mafia hasn't been able to go all that far in either country (they do not just govern one country, they claim to "protect" all intellectual property worldwide). Big problem was CSS - the original "scramble" protection code. THAT was made illegal. They shut down many an international site that either sold or gave away a DE-CSS program (i.e. rip). Odd rule. You could, in theory, own a copy of the same movie or album for personal use on various devices (iPhone, PSP, backup) but it was / is illegal to circumvent the CSS code. Go figger. Look at the debate over Pirate Bay for a good discussion of the subject.
Exactly why a great many movies, albums and games have gone "protection-free." Canada is just now making a show about a law that is already on the books.
Nupe's comment about "ripping" JP's "Metal Works" is a misnomer. He transcoded it from one format to another. I own the NTSC version of it and digitized it years ago. It never had protection, thus, perfectly legal for me to make a backup. NOT legal (in the US...Finland is another case) to share it openly as it is copyrighted material. In certain countries, though. That is why many servers have moved to more "share friendly" countries that are out of reach of current international law.

I dont see how priest is making money to replace downloading with more stuff that could easily be downloaded. we have all these songs, rip them in the right order

It completely flew under the radar of most in the US but there was a recent "major win" by those groups that not only try to stop but actually persecute those who violate the many acts and laws that are out to protect Digital Media Rights.
The freelance writer and consumer advocate for a "fair use" policy, Quinn Norton, recently released a bombshell in the trade rags such as "Wired" and MaxPC magazines. It slipped by in the form of an EULA (end user license agreement) that the big 5 internet providers formed. Basically, with no laws, most have now signed away their rights without knowing it simply by using their internet provider. They track you with even the suspicion of an illegal download and your company "dings" you. A few "dings" and you are forced to go through an online class before you are granted full internet access again. Your acct flagged a second time? Possible ban from use and lawsuits.
This is now going worldwide. Write your Congressman? Nope. No laws have been passed. Just your own ISP's EULA. Good luck to the tech neophytes and, oh yes, the idiot here recently boasting about "Limewire" (Gnutella), Frostwire (same access, dope), and even the torrent clients.
Nope. As you can tell, I don't buy that argument at all. It died with the Shitallica round of lawsuits back in 2006.

Sorry to read that one but you know what is odd? You CAN carry and use aluminum knitting needles on a flight (international or otherwise) originating from the US! I had a lady sitting next to me pull out a pair of 6" suckers on a recent flight and just had to confirm what she told me by looking it up with a few airlines. They take away fingernail clippers but yet you can carry a pair of long pointed metal spikes.
Granted, they'd probably take them away from ME no matter what the rules say but, then again, we all know that what is "on the books" often has nothing to do with reality. Especially when it comes to the TSA in the US.
Dear Hellrider:
I am so disappointed, and truly sorry to tell you that I spoke to my cop-acquaintance this afternoon and relayed your story to him. He proceeded to tell me that there was nothing to be done about the situation. Basically, your glove WAS a weapon in their minds and in the rule-books. The fact that they confiscated it without persuing anything meant that apparently, they did YOU a favour - had they written anything up, it would've gone through dispatch, and they could have hauled you downtown under arrest. He said this way they just confiscated the WEAPON, and let you off without you getting in a heap of trouble. I tried to plead your case, but dude had attitude about it...then informed me that the glove was most likely destroyed without filing any paperwork to SAVE you. (??????) That was that...I told him you were just a great guy who liked to represent his metal appreciation in his clothing and style and wouldn't hurt a fly...but it all fell on deaf ears. I was so pissed it wasn't funny. Needless to say, I'm not going to bother calling on him if I ever need help for ANYTHING. But I am going to start carrying around my knitting needles, just to see what happens, since THEY can be seen as WEAPONS also, probably even more dangerous than a spiked glove. So very very sorry, my friend...thought I could help, but struck out big time and now have less faith in the system than I did before. People just suck moose jizz bigtime. Thought he'd have been more understanding or helpful, but dude and his posse appear to have their nuts in a vice of prolific stupidity the likes of which I've never seen or heard. Don't loose the faith though, and don't stop being the awesome metal defender that you are. Again...so so sorry.

Thought he'd have been more understanding or helpful, but dude and his posse appear to have their nuts in a vice of prolific stupidity the likes of which I've never seen or heard. Don't loose the faith though, and don't stop being the awesome metal defender that you are. Again...so so sorry.

Thats the most digusting thing I've ever seen in my life. What organization can I donate to that would end this horrible enslavement and destruction of innocent bears? I have no words for the sadness I feel for what I just saw. How cruel can people be? Apparently they have no depth too low. Sickening.
Ooops I didn't see the foundation link through my tears. I will donate to this cause. This should never happen. It's not enough to be angry about it.

I couldn't do that. I used to have my Dad sew me up when he was available. I cut myself once sharpening a knife, and my grandmother was there. I told her to call my Dad to come home and sew me up. NO she said I'll call your mother, she'll know what to do. She called her and I could
hear her telling Mom about it and then I hear her say, Oh.........OK if you think that's best! My grandmother hung up the phone and I asked her, what my Mom said?........."She said to call your fathter". LOL She hated my Dad and didn't want to have to call him. She'd rather me sit there and bleed than call my Dad. LOL
When my Dad finally got home to sew me up, my friend called me.......my Grandmother answered the phone and Karen asked to speak to me and in a very proper and brisk way my Grandmother said "No, you may not speak to her, she's bleeding right now" and promptly slamed down the phone. My Grandmother was a hoot!

Wow, now wouln't THAT be cool!! Longshot, I'll admit, but were you able to get ol' Hellrider's pride and glory glove back, that would be WAAAAAY KEWL!
Many of you remember me getting my favorite ring snagged by a hospital (yeah, the $10 ring I got re-chromed for about $20 lol) and the long battle calling everyone and their brother to get it back. Miracles do come true as it did re-appear. Here's hoping the glove does as well!!!
HELLLLLLLRIDERRRRRR!!!!!!! NEVER FEAR MY FRIEND - I AM GOING TO TRY TO GET IN TOUCH WITH A COP-ACQUAINTANCE-FRIEND OF MINE FROM TORONTO'S 52 DIVISION, AND SEE WHAT IF I CAN FIND ANYTHING OUT ABOUT THIS BULL$HIT SITUATION. I WILL DO WHATEVER IT TAKES TO TRY TO REUNITE THE STUDDED GLOVE TO THE DEFENDER. PM ME AND LET ME KNOW EXACTLY TIME AND LOCATION. KEEP THE FAITH MY METAL BROTHER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

SAW SOMETHING ON EVENTFULL SITE ONLY THING I CAN THINK OF PROBABLY A TOTAL WASTE
Rant:
I've been a Priest fan for may years but their management sucks when it comes to promoting their concerts. I live in Brasilia, Brazil, when Iron Maiden came through here a few months ago there were billboard concert ads, radio announcements 5x/day, whole I.M. albums played on our cable tv digital music (Globo FM) for a week or two leading up to the concert.
Judas Priest- NADDA!!! no signage, no radio ads, no albums played on our digital cable music....NOTHING! and they wonder why few come to their shows...hmmmm
I guarantee when Priest comes to Brasilia it will be a gost town compared to when Iron Maiden came.

That seemed to have been an illegal confiscation on the part of the officer, HR. This comes directly from Canada's legal code on the subject:
-----
39. The following goods generally do not meet the definition of a prohibited weapon, and thus do not fall under TI 9898.00.00. Their misuse may nonetheless be punishable under other laws:
(a) cloth, nylon or plastic wristbands which may be weak and not effective as weapons;
(b) wristbands with dull ‘studs’ which may not be effective as weapons;
(c) spiked necklaces, ankle bracelets, belts, boots, spiked gloves and gauntlets or any other item of jewellery or clothing to which spikes are affixed.
