q: has priest ever performed "un-live"???
[gillymott-AccountClosed] Monday, September 14, 2009 8:06:01 AM
Have been an avid fan since the 1970's, after missing out on tickets for live performances on several occasions, managed to see J. Priest at long last  in 1991.  As I thought - the only band I have ever heard play live that gave a better listening experience than that of their studio recordings!

best of the beast! priest live is like............................storm over the world!

Priest was my first concert ever. I was 12 or 13 and was at the show in 86 or 87 in dallas texas. The one they filmed for Priest...Live! I had only heard about the show the day of and could only get nose bleed seats. But I still loved every min. of it. I will never ever forget it. I have seen Them alot of times since and they always blow me away! Priest are one of the best live  bands ever and always will be.
[JudasPriestMAN] Wednesday, May 27, 2009 5:33:52 PM
Judas Priest is the best live. Listening to Hot Rockin' from the Rising In The East DVD right now.

Well if there's official tour dates for a date you heard about them playing on, it's always gonna be the one listed by THEM, not an email from whoever.

Let me just say with all confidence that the only song that Halford really struggles with now is Painkiller and even then he gets the trademark screams spot on and i mean SPOT ON. When i went to see them live in February it was the best concert of my life and boy did they have some competition. Testament and Megadeth were both on top form and i thought Priest were gonna have sound difficulties as they took ages to come on as there was a technical fault but My God, they blew the other 2 off the stage. By the time Prophecy had kicked in i had forgotten who had been on beforehand and i kicked myself for doubting that they would be anything less than 'out of this world' as i too had heard and seen some live videos that didn't sound the best. Don't let people who have only watched youtube videos and never seen Priest live fool you, They are an incredible live band and Halford will have your ears bleeding by the end of the set. The monitors in Manchester couldn't handle the pitch of his screams and i was in the front row practically deaf thanks to the end of Painkiller.

I've seen them 3 times since 2005 and believe me you wouldn't wanna miss them, it is a completely different experience watching them live in concert to some terrible quality youtube video.

They are the Metal Gods and they will blow your mind!

Don't believe everything you hear. It's true, some shows Rob's voice isn't perfect and I've heard a lot of complaining about it on other boards. But of the 3 shows I saw in 2005 and 2008, they kicked ass. In fact, Rob's voice was out of this world incredible when we saw them in a small venue in 2005! I wish I had a bootleg video of that show let me tell you! I've never heard them sound that good - they were ON FIRE! They blew the roof off the place! So judge for yourself and don't listen to the youtube stuff and think that's how they sound, because nothing can really capture the power of the Priest LIVE. I know they don't move around as much as they used to... but I'm still in awe of how awesome they sound live. And I've never believed that Rob had to be perfect in every show he ever does for the rest of his life - I think that is way too high a standard to place on anyone, even if he is THE METAL GOD.

Go see them before it's too late.... who knows how many tours they have left.

OK, I think we are all in agreement that POPEVIL= Beer time. I really have no intrest in seeing them. Might be like the time I saw Bon Jovi as an opening act. The auditoriun wasn't selling beer either, and I was scarred for life from that experience. Still makes me ill.

I know why this band??????  I thought Anvil might be added too,,,,,

I dont like Pop Evil....  Okay I want to know who had to many glasses of merlot and added them... GLENN!!!!  hes going to get a spanking.   LOL @ KK I asked him about Testament,, He said he doesnt even listen to their music..
So It kinda makes you wonder where they even came from Pop evil..

Iam glad I dont have to listen them.. At the MN show.

HAAAAAAA!!!!! And I know that LOOK all too well. Staring back looking to see if there was a tripwire or something someone had put up to knock their drunk ass over. LOL!!! I saw Blue Oyster Cult with Aldo Nova (heh...don't ask..how about THAT for a ticket!) in a rainstorm of Biblical proportions once long long ago. Bored with the musical phrasings of ol' Aldo ("PLAY 'FANTASY' AND GET OFF THE STAGE YOU LOSER!! HAA!") the hill fall / slide / roll kept us in stitches the whole time. Even better if you remember the era. White pants were in fashion. Ho HO!! Seeing some '80s babe roll down a hill of mud was just too much! Needless to say, her poofy "wall of hair" was nothing of the sort by the time she stopped the slide. Ah...memories.... As for the upcoming concert, I'll be easy to find too. I'll be the guy in the black Priest shirt! HAAAAA!!!!! Seriously, though. We'll coordinate when the draws closer. Love to raise a really expensive watered-down glass of foam with you! LOL!!!

I can just picture it in my head right now!I've never been there when it was raining, so I never got the pleasure of seeing that. Just the drunk people trying to walk/run/trip/roll/slide down the hill after the concert. We like to play "Is it the booze or the shoes?" Then they all stare back at the hill that they just fell down looking all confused like they didn't know it was a HILL! LMAO! AHHHH, good times....

There are 3 main places to buy booze (no beer "tent") - one when you first walk in, and then one on each side of the pavilion. We can pick one to meet at. Since the guys outnumber the chicks 10:1, I'm sure it won't be that hard to spot me. I'll be wearing my Painkiller tour shirt most likely - didn't see many of those at the last show, at least not on girls.

Lucky you. I get to hear their nonsense at all THREE concerts! AARGH! IS there a beer tent at Pine Knob? Just individual stands right below / behind the hill last I recall. Speaking of "recalling," what fond memories of my youth bringing in coolers, setting up camp and then watching people slide down the entire hill on a rainy concert evening! HO HO!!! Too funny! It was always really best when they were either really big (slid ALLLLLLL the way down the hill) and / or really drunk as they fell the funniest and typically screamed obscenities afterward. LOL!!!!

So THAT'S what you meant about being a God band back in the day.... now I get it, I had no idea. EEEEEEEEEEEEWWWWWWWWWW! At least they aren't going to be at 1 of the shows I'm going to! I've only heard parts of the 2 songs on YouTube....not impressed to say the least. Now that I know they wanted to be a Christain rock band, I really can't stomach that! Had some people try to turn me to Christian rock music when I was 12..... bad memories man. But I kept the metal faith and told them that if I was going to hell for listening to Priest, then at least hell will have GREAT music! How in the hell are these guys opening for PRIEST???

[guidogodoy] Monday, May 11, 2009 11:40:11 PM
Nope, am and was thinking of PopEvil. Knew they were from GrandRapids and they did start out trying to be a Stryper-esq (if THAT is possible without spandex) God band. They have since played that way down but, if you look at their website / bio, you'll still see the overtones.

Beer tent it is because there is NO way I am going to waste my time listening to a band who came out with their first full-length cd of crap last year!

We'll have to coordinate when the date draws closer. Haven't been to Pine Knob since JP/ Queensryche, so I am a bit unsure of which pubs are still around (even stopped at the beer store oddly enough STILL using the name Pine Knob Licquor / Beer) right before that concert. I am all for it, though.

Nope, that wasn't me with a JP fan site.... but maybe I should start one! Yeah, I agree with you, PoopEatin' is much more appropriate, although they did get the Pop right (evil??? I DON"T THINK SO!) God it just sucks doesn't it ? I'm glad your laptop survived. Maybe I should have put a warning on that link! Can't believe they call that metal.... You were here before me, so it is your name to keep. I'm sorry about all the confusion and problems. It's been my nickname for a very long time, so it was just natural for me to pick it. Hopefully this helps and you can go back to your original name.  Sorry you already changed your name, I hope you go back to it so all your friends will recognize you. Anyone else's name start with Hot Rockin'?
