Oh hell yeah! Everybody has thier own take on what is a band's best album, and to me 2004 "Inferno" is the best Motorhead album they have ever done.Every track is a hit single and each one is absolutely excellent,"Life's A Bitch" is fuckin kick ass Painkiller!!!  They played "In The Name Of Tradgedy" when I saw them in October here in Seattle and it was amazing!!!!!

Hey Painkiller87,the whole album of Iron Fist is totally excellent, used to have this on vinyl back in the 80's but who knows what happened to it? lol! Yeah thats right , you were saying that before I joinde the forum. I'll give you credit for that. But you were also saying that Motorhead wasn't a Heavy Metal band but some kind of hard greasy biker style band instead. Now you're on here saying they are one of champions of British Heavy Metal. So which on is it? Are they heavy metal or not? Make up your mind or do you change it every day. The contradiction continues. BaHa!!!!!! Busted again!!

And the funny thing is that we were saying this all along way before that retarded piece of shit Maiden fanboy joined this forum,Freeze is right nobody should even talk to him,I've stomped him and defeated him 10 times over as everybody already knows so theres no point in posting in his lame stupid thread lol! This guy is retarded to the max and he has proven it to the rest of the forum. Everybody just stop responding to him,let him talk to himself and post by himself for now on...he will get bored if nobody awknowleges him....fuckin loser lol!

Motorhead blows aways Iron Maiden so far into the dirt its unexplainable,Maiden is a "trend" that people listen to because its the "hip thing to do" they listen to them because everybody else likes them so they feel they have to like them too to try and "fit in" with the masses of sheep just like Metallica fans, there is no difference between the "TREND" of Iron Maiden and Shitallica,no difference, dumb people listen to post Cliff Burton era Metallica because its the trendy thing to do,they see all these trendy kiddies listening to shitallica so they feel they have to be a part in that, thats why they are "sheep".  Fuck off to Iron Maiden and fuck off to all Iron Maiden fans.

A-FREAKIN'-MEN!!! THAT is what I have been saying for ages now! Exactly why I can't stand current Maiden. A Matter of Life and Death led me to that very conclusion. Every (seemingly 17 minute) song changes tempo so often I just can't get into it. Never have, never will and believe me, I have tried.

One guitarist too many, too many poor, droning songs to count.

I agree with the trying to be clever comment JJ. I think Maiden needs to realise that fans don't necessarily want some egotistical insanely long album. It's very rare that it actually works, like you say. Marriner is the exception.

[jimmyjames] Wednesday, March 31, 2010 3:57:34 PM
One thing I've noticed about their later material, from Brave New World onwards, is this tendency to try and be to clever. When you listen to their old stuff, from Iron Maiden through to Fear Of The Dark, the songs are constructed in two ways. They either start at a certain tempo and pretty much stick with it or they build and build and build and then reach a peak and finish. This works well as you'd have your three to five minute songs that just go along and then you'd have your longer "epic" kind of songs which are usually six or seven minutes. The obvious exception is Ancient Mariner at 13 minutes. Nowadays it seems to me that Maiden do to many songs maybe start out slow, build up to a peak, then change tempo again chugging along then try to build up again before winding down. It's things like that that get boring. It worked for Mariner but that was a one off. They end up with a good idea for a four minute song turning into a boring eight minute song. Whether it's Harris or not I don't know but it pisses me off. I hate putting a new cd in and seeing that it's 76 minutes long or something.
[J.D. DIAMOND] Wednesday, March 31, 2010 3:18:34 PM
I agree with you. I've never liked the band "Rush" but they used to play "rock" with a tad bit of progressiveness but it was rock and there were "riffs" ect..but when they hit around 1984-85- till now they are so progressive its really not Rush anymore with the songs they write. Iron Maiden to me is the "Rush" of heavy metal except they didn't go as far as Rush did with the over-the-top progressiveness but they still went far enough to agrivate old time Maiden fans especially fans of the band's first 7 studio albums(1980 -1988).

I actually like the AMOLAD album except for those 2 stupid tracks I've already mentioned several times because its the best thing I can get from Maiden since 1988's Seventh Son album but it still is light years from Seventh Son in quality,as I've said it is a great album for Iron Maiden as we all know they can get worse so I'm just trying to give the band some kind of credit.

I think the problem with Iron Maiden is "Steve Harris" and the reason I say that is because of Bruce Dickinson's last 3 studio albums Accident Of Birth,The Chemical Wedding and Tyranny Of Souls wich they are kinda progressive too but they are tons heavier and better quality of song writting, those 3 albums to me crush every Maiden album after 1988's Seventh Son album. I think Steve Harris says whats what and whos who...he is the master mind behind Iron Maiden and he says what goes and what doesn't,these less than average albums they keep putting out I blame on Steve Harris.

Judas Priest may not set the world on fire writting albums but really they lost Rob Halford a lot longer than Maiden lost Bruce and to be totally honest...Angel Of Retribution besides Lochness screams of classic Judas Priest and has that old-school sound....it could of easily been released in 1986 instead of Turbo...it could of been right there alongside Screaming For Vengeance and Defenders Of The Faith.

I'm not saying that its better than those albums but it could of easily been in that era with sound and quality song writting. Iron Maiden hasn't come close to Retribution with Brave New World,Dance Of Death or A Matter Of life And Death and I'm betting that The Final Frontier will be no exception. At least Priest gave us Angel Of Retribution and I'll put my money on that this next LP from our Metal Gods will be another classic in the Judas Priest shrine...we'll have to wait and see.

[jimmyjames] Wednesday, March 31, 2010 2:16:55 PM
The thing about Maiden is that they set the benchmark so high. Those first seven albums, up to an including Seventh Son are some of the greatest albums in the whole metal genre. Every single one of those albums is considered a classic. I think Maiden are fully aware that everything just clicked right back then and it's something they are never going to be able to recapture. They are also fully aware that the reason people come along to their shows is to see songs from those albums performed live. This is why they continue to play them and also the reason behind the Somewhere Back In Time Tour, which was a true world tour. I think Maiden truly enjoy touring and playing to their fans and thats why they continue to do so, it's not as if they need the money or anything. The reason they continue to release new albums is because it gives them a legitimate reason to get out there and play without falling into the whole nostalgia cash in type of thing a lot of bands are doing these days.   [Show/Hide Quoted Message] (Quoting Message by J.D. Hell yeah jimmy the key thing for me about Motorhead is thier "consistancy" at writting good albums and not just good for Motorhead should do,good for mass people who like rock/heavy metal. They are #1 at consistant quality song writting album after album and they don't wait 3 or more years to write those albums I agree with you on that. I'm not linking you to my opinion about Iron Maiden, but to me Iron Maiden is they worst band at consistant song writting/albums of quality material. Compared to Motorhead it would be a mear joke to say that Maiden is just as consistant in writting quality songs and putting out quality albums of kick ass material and again this is not to toy with Brian and his likings for Iron Maiden, this is how I thougtht long before he unfortuantely joined our forum,Iron Maiden is just not good at writting quality songs on a consistant basis so again I'll have to say......

The great thing about Motorhead is that they do put out albums on a regular basis. I remember when I was in Canada a year and a half ago and I saw the Motorizer cd at the mall. I was thinking but Kiss Of Death only came out 5 minutes ago. Now, a year and a half later another album is ready. All bands should be like this. Bands blame things like long tours etc being the reason for these extended periods in between albums but thats bullshit, Motorhead are always touring, they've even found the time to make it down here to NZ twice in the last 5 years. Motorhead is an example to all bands as far as having a work ethic goes. So many bands think 20 shows in the US and Canada and 15 in Europe constitutes a world tour and then they take a year off before starting work on the next album, not Motorhead. These guys are legends. Can't wait for the new album.

Check this out. This is awesome.
[J.D. DIAMOND] Tuesday, March 30, 2010 2:05:09 PM

Motorhead finished recording the band's "20th" studio album!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  No title has been revealed as of yet but Lemmy assures it will be "classic  Motorhead" with no lame suprises. This is what Motorhead is all about. 19 studio albums and only one of them is an under-par LP with 1993 March Or Die but every other Motorhead album is Lemmy and Co. churning out classic Motorhead. They are the band you can trust that gives you a quality album year after year on a consistant basis unlike the poor song writting skills of a band such as "Iron Maiden". Wait untill this new Motorhead album is unleashed and I'll gaurantee it will hold more votes as being a better album than the next boring Star Trek Maiden studio album.

Hell yeah Becks I couldn't agree more with you and I too would wait through ice and snow for Judas Priest Motorhead and Saxon but NEVER for Iron Maiden. Iron Maiden is the 2nd most overrated pice of shit with shitallica at #1. And yeah the chances of The Final Frontier turning out "as good as Powerslave" are nill but as always I will hope and give it a chance, but with the title of the album along with those song titles the odds of it being anything good are pretty slim.

I already "HATE" the crappy thing on the cover thats supposed to be "Eddie" it is the "worst album cover I have ever seen for an Iron Maiden album cover". And I HATE the title "The Final Frontier" as it instantly reminds me of "Star Trek". And with those lame song titles if they are the real ones they blow big time...so really the odds of this turning out to be something cool are very slim to none.Lets just face it...this band is "dead" and they have fuckin sucked since 1990 thats 20 years this band has "sucked". Fuck Iron Maiden, they have been "weak" for 20 years while Judas Priest,Motorhead and Saxon are the champions of British Heavy Metal.

It's unfortunate that Iron Maiden haven't continued the momentum they had in the 80s. They had some fantastic albums during that time, but everything has become patchy, for lack of a better term, in recent years. If this Final Frontier album turns out as good as say Powerslave, then awesome, but what are the chances really?
Granted, Priest have had their ups and downs musically too, but on recent years they have knocked the shit out of Maiden with their releases.
Now Motorhead, does any band really get any more heavy metal than Motorhead? Lemmy is fuckin awesome LOL!

LOL now that would be something to see. Probably the most exciting part of a concert consisting of 1990-2006 Iron Maiden, LOL!

As for myself, I was in the "Down the Irons" camp back in the Fear of the Dark tour. Free tix and I got onstage with them. The song? Clairvoyant or something just as dull. I remember when the roadie asked if we knew the song so as to show up at the backstage door. "Groan," I think was my reply! LOL!!! FFS, give me a GOOD song!

Like I have posted before, my buddy and I went to the signing at midnight the night of the concert. Guys were an hour+ late and it was cold so we just went home. Think I'd EVER do that with Priest?! Not in a million years. Hell, I'd have even braved the cold a good while longer for Motorhead.

Fake Brian thinks he "won." HAAA! What a friggin' joke. Personally, I am just too bored with his lack of dialog to bother. I'll wait for that loser to start up the White Lion vs. thread. LOL!!! In the meantime, anyone want to make me an offer on some late Maiden CDs? Only played once (disclaimer: seller is not responsible should your ears start to bleed or should your brain suddenly dry up).

LOL! Well my point is that they would be "cringeworthy" played live...I still give A Matter Of Life And Death credit as a "great album" for a washed up poor song writting band like Iron maiden but to hear it live HELL NO. lol!

But I couldn't ever make a list not even for fun because any songs from Iron Maiden that were made from 1990 -2006 would make me puke to hear them played live,I just can't come up with anything for real man, they are "that bad" and I can only listen to some of these songs on my stereo in small doses maybe once every 2 years if that and only a track or 2,not the whole album ect..

My girlfriend has Brave New World and A Matter Of life And Death but they never get played...we don't own any other album from 1990-2006 except those 2 and they hardly even get played at home like I said maybe once every 2 years or more and when we play them we only play one song or so...thats why I just can't list a setlist YUK! lol!

I didn't ask you to rate the albums JD, I just figured if you compiled a setlist you would naturally pick the songs you liked best or didn't like the least. It's not and easy thing to do and was supposed to be a bit of fun.

To Jimmy James:  Listing a setlist from Iron maiden tracks that are from albums 1990 - 2006 is a lost cause because I would "HATE" to hear these fuckin songs live even if I like some of them, its not to hard to understand because as I've said.....while some of those tracks are good and even if I think AMOLAD album is great they are not "good enough to play live" YUK.  Thats why I can't come up with a set list from those years...they simply "are not good enough" for a live show because Iron Maiden "FUCKING SUCKS".

And by the way....I did and have rated those albums from 1990-2006 go back in Brian's pathetic Iron Maiden thread from the other day March 25th when we both listed each Iron Maiden album...you will find that I've rated each album ...do you have a short term memory loss jimmy or have you been smoking my pot again? lol!!!

Now Motorhead? This isn't aimed at you jimmy but heres my opinion of Motorhead vs. Iron Maiden..... Motorhead's song writting fuckin crushes Iron Maiden's balls no question. I could "easily" make up a set list of kick ass Motorhead songs in a track list from 1990 -2008 no problem although it would be so easy there would be so many tracks that would not fit in a 2 1/2 hour set list but I could easily make one....Motorhead has so many top notch excellent songs that tower over Iron maiden its not funny,really...its not even close.

And another thing thats funny is the title of this thread says "who is HARDER"? LOL Iron Maiden is so mellow these days and soooooo progressive that there is NO WAY they can be "harder" than the panzer division Motorhead assult at thier volume.

Listen to Runaround Man uptop....does Iron maiden have any songs that can top this in heaviness the last 20 years? Fuck no they don't. Motorhead has balls and like Brian_Evans, Iron Maiden does not...end of story.

DOWN THE FUCKIN' IRONS.

  1. Where No Man Has Gone Before Lyrics
  2. Higher And Faster Lyrics
  3. The Antagonist Lyrics
  4. Longing For Heaven Lyrics
  5. Murky Space Race Lyrics
  6. Catastrophe Of A Thousand Light Years Lyrics
  7. The Final Frontier Lyrics
  8. Beyond The Eyes Can See Lyrics

This is unofficial but I'm beginning to think this is the real song titles of the new Iron Maiden album. If this is true (wich keep in mind it may not be) then there are 3 song titles that are utterly ridiculous.

"Where No Man Has Gone Before"    Longing For Heaven(yuk   ) and Murky Space Race...those 3 title would be lame if they are actually the song titles. The other 5 titles I can handle.

"Where No Man Has Gone Before"  from the album The Final Frontier.....they should have the Star Trek theme song that goes into the first track right?  ?? Is this a joke?

We all have opinions and I'm no different,so I have to say that "only the old Iron Maiden" first 5 studio albums are great up to Powerslave, the rest are overrated BIG TIME. Metallica is the biggest lamest overrated band in the world and Maiden is # 2 next to shittalica.I like old Iron Maiden and some of thier newer stuff too but its ridiculously overrated in my opinion.

Thier albums after Powerslave are really not all that great, some of them are ok but never as good as the first 5 albums, not even close. But when they play live, everyone wants to go because of "Number Of The Beast man"....thats the only reason people go see Iron Maiden is to hear thier "old shit"not thier new shit.

And MUSICGIRL....this thread wasn't who we like better,it is "who is harder"?? And I've seen Iron Maiden live 3 times and just saw Motorhead live in October for the first time, and I can definately tell you that "MOTORHEAD" is "harder"!!!!!!  This was the LOUDEST fucking show I have EVER seen!!!! Any louder and my ears would literately be bleeding,so to say Maiden is harder is unvalid,so I'm not saying that you should like Motorhead better rather than admitting that Motorhead are "harder"!!! lol! After the panzer division assult  rolled through Seattle on Friday night thats called "MOTORHEAD"....I can back his statement up

1,000%!!!!!!!!!   For god's sake if anybody ever wonders about this question....Motorhead are definately "harder" and louder than Maiden.
[.] Friday, September 04, 2009 2:12:42 AM
Not a choice question for me. I can enjoy both. But (joking) the day Lemmy Kilmeister dies, they will tour his dead body around the world. There will be massive funeral processions by biker gangs and grieving fandom everywhere. Tattoos with RIP Lemmy in Goth lettering by the thousands, every band ever known to mankind will pay tribute...it will be a massive event for decades to come.

I have to say Iron Maiden. They have a lot more variations and are tighter and more "metallish".

I also love Motörhead, but Maiden is so much more music for me!
