Well, my fellow Priest fanatic's, the 'streak' is officially over!  i made sure i kept the cd's in the case for one day, (sunday), but opened it up today and gave it a spin!  Thankyou again to all my very cool supporters here, Metal Goddess, and Becks, you both rock, and have been the biggest supporters! but, thanks to all that have been with me through it all, you are very special, YOUR PRIEST FANS!!!!

Keep the Faith!!!

From what I can tell looking at the pictures, it looks like Jim had ONE HELL OF A TIME last night at the last listen party!! I really wish we could have made it yesterday to help you celebrate..... but at least we got everything squared away with my mom. Congrats again Jackylone!!!! The picture titled "Nostradamus is HAMMERED!" is my FAVORITE!!

Good point spa, very true.  Hey Ron,raise one for me too since I'm a former drinker!  Jackylone made a great point to me the other day,as he told me he also listens to MANY other cds and bands "EACH DAY" along with Nostradamus so for him to have this streak going or for him to have the streak that he had is a statement that he is making personally for "himself" and it says "I love Judas Priest!" !! lol! How can any of us bad mouth this guy for that? No none of us would listen to an album each day but for him to do this is not so much "an acomplishment"(as jimmy james said it wasn't)but a dedication of musical passion and for that I give him 2 thumbs up.   [Show/Hide Quoted Message] (Quoting Message by ron h from Saturday, November 21, 2009 8:23:17 PM)

Love the way people just  come into this thread and think by the name of it, that is what it's all it is about. People, backread if your new.
This thread has been alive for over a year for a reason. It's tribute to a friend, and testament to fans of J.P. it you read it.

[SkyRideR] Saturday, November 21, 2009 12:52:20 PM
why are people ragging on nostradamus?
it's a step further than most bands go without losing their roots...

[musicgirl] Saturday, November 21, 2009 7:38:07 AM
Well, Necroticist, I would not say that Nostradamus is not any good, it may not be as good as the earlier years but when it is priest you got to love it...........
[jackylone] Saturday, November 21, 2009 1:53:38 AM
Today is the day!! The Nostradamus last listen party is about 12 hours away, i'm so excited i can't sleep!!!!!  who knows, i may go 'underground' and quietly keep it going till they tour it!!!! Only Nostradamus knows!!!!!!!
[Deep Freeze] Friday, November 20, 2009 7:48:12 AM

Listening to Nostradamus ONCE was enuff for me....24/7 i'd slit my wrists sooner....i'm sorry to go on ...but it's the worst pile of crap JP have ever excreted...it's overlong, lifeless and just damn Not good....(i'll wait for the comeback....)
[Deep Freeze] Friday, November 20, 2009 7:07:34 AM
Well, we do get a few decent acts coming through here. Unfortunately, most of them play in a GA setting and that means I do not attend.

Hey Deep Freeze,

Nice that you live in Vegas, I bet you get to see alot of great bands. In the area I live we do not get the pleasure very often of good rock much less Metal.
[J.D. DIAMOND] Thursday, November 19, 2009 10:20:57 PM
Yeah Jackylone that makes sense if you also listen to mass other cds and bands too,if you only listened to Nostradamus every day and nothing else, that would be challenging not just Nostradamus but ANY cd would.

I have to say,it utterly amazes me that Jackylone doesn't get "sick" of Nostradamus. If I listened to Painkiller every day for 500 days straight I would be "SICK" of it!!  But this goes to show how different each and everyone of us really are. I have about 300 cds all original with case and booklets ect. that cover about 75 different bands, and I'm always grabbing something different each day so I don't listen to the same band or cd every day unless I'm on a certain kick where I do listen to a cd maybe 2 days cause I'm into it at that time, but for the most part I try and spread it out so I don't grow tired of it. Thats why I DO NOT listen to Led Zeppelin anymore because everywhere I go I hear "Zeppelin".At a gas station,on tv at home,in a clothing store, someone's car, everywhere I go I am brain washed with "Zeppelin" and I hate it!! lol! I do know that they are a great band but I am sick to death of them. I could go the rest of my life without hearing another Zeppelin song and I would be fine with that.

I am a newbee on this site but I have to agree with Guidogodoy agreeing with Deep Freeze, I would do anything to sit with Rob and talk even for 5 minutes.
[guidogodoy] Thursday, November 12, 2009 11:21:39 AM
Oh man, I couldn't agree more. While some called Jim a "loon" for having done so, I think that the unexpected benefits (radio + print + SPEAKING WITH THE BAND!!) do certainly deserve MAJOR KUDOS!! Good going, Jim (but next time mention JP.COM HAAAA!!!).

Now about this tattoo, Freeze....you might be onto something there. However, I do NOT want to see a picture!

[Deep Freeze] Thursday, November 12, 2009 9:59:12 AM

Well Jim, whether or not you did it for acknowledgement or not is irrelevant. I mean, you got it! To have the opportunity to sit for five minutes and chat with Rob Halford I can assure you I would do FAR worse and lie my butt off about it if I needed to...HA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Like I said, the end completely justifies the means! I realize that is  TOTALLY cynical and I readily admit it but, if I claimed that "Turbo" was the GREATEST Priest album ever and had it tattoed on my butt and Rob wanted to talk about that, I would do it!! HAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The point is, you lived the dream. If you enjoy the album so much, GREAT. It makes NO difference. YOU met the Band! You sat with Rob Halford and chatted!! And it was not some management-required "meet and greet". THEY sought YOU out and wanted to speak to YOU!! Kudos to you, my friend.

Thanks guys!  i know there's people out there that question why i did it, certainly not for noteriety or some kind of fame.  Simply, the love a great record....the band saw fit to take a few minutes to acknowledge it, whick i only could have dreamed of!  The media made it what it is....i guess i should thank them...lol
[Deep Freeze] Thursday, November 12, 2009 8:15:01 AM
OK Jim, here's the way I see it...:

An "achievement" is defined as a result gained by effort. With that in mind, clearly you have met the standard for an achievement. The quality of which I suppose one could debate but I would ask, WHY? I mean, honestly! The real bottom line here is that the end certainly justifies the means, right? It makes NO difference to me what you did or what , if any, ulterior motives you may have had! YOU got to meet the Band! YOU got some noteriety! YOU reaped the benefits of an idea forged within your own mind and put into motion. As far as I am concerned, it is an achievement! I would LOVE to have come up with it myself and received those rewards!!! HA!!!!!!!!!!!

If one cares to debate why you did it I suppose they could but, as far as I am concerned, it was a brilliant piece of work on your part. I am not really interested in why you did it...YOU met the Band!!! Well done!

I'd bet hellrider has listened to Painkiller when it was released more times in one month than Jackylone's year and a half of Nostradamus lol!!!!
[Becks] Thursday, November 12, 2009 12:57:05 AM
Dude, don't be so negative. An achievement is a personal thing, and Jackylone has every right to be happy if he feels (which I am sure he does) he has achieved something - what may be an achievement for one person won't be so for another, but that doesn't give anyone the right to knock it back. I give props to Jackylone

I'm confused..... maybe you could explain it to me since I must be dense. If you aren't a Judas Priest fan and you don't know anything by them or about them, why exactly are you on the JUDAS PRIEST board? Do I go to The Mars Volta forum (assuming they have one, or maybe they don't and you are just BORED!) and preach to those people about how awesome JP is? NO! We are here to talk to other JP fans about JP - that is what brought us all here. Then we became friends and talk about other things too, but our Priest connection keeps us together. Why are you here??? Thanks for finally admitting what we already knew!

Now, go out and buy yourself some Priest albums and listen to some Classic Heavy Metal!

Now get to a record store and buy yourself an actual Judas Priest album. Breaking the Law...that's it? Most of us here have the entire freakin' discography!! You have no idea what you're missing, man!!!!

Yes The Mars Volta sucks ass...nothing I'm not use to hearing...That was meant to be in quotations..lol....Ok So I went off on everyone...I was true to what "I believe to be decent music "compared to like....What you may hear on your local rock station?...To be completely honest I was turned on to this sight by a mutaul friend..I never really  listened to Judas Priest..Honestly besides what I recall of ( Breaking the Law) right?... But I think I have decent taste in music compared to what all my friends think is "good"...And Bazooka..Sorry if I rubbed you the wrong way but you have to admitt...calling them shit was uncalled for.. you could have said you thought they sucked...I have many barriers to break...I am always open.. But goudodoy...your name I forget..(its not easy to remember)...you seem cool actually...And yes Joe this is just a forum...but our circumstances are ..or can be so different....I love music...Always will...It depends on the indivisual i suppose...The Mars Volta have been so inspirational to me. And you can't deny Omar rodriguez Is one of the most awesome unorthadox guitar players since Jimmy Page..(in my opinion).. I love it...their music..Sorry...So can we squash it? or shall I stay on the defensive?...I'll never back down

I think you were too, Joe...you would have loved being there!!!  And tastes in music is as personal as tastes in food, cars and women, ya know?  What works for me may not work for you, but you deserve my respect in the choices you make, just don't try to rub my nose in it (not you personally, but anyone who has differing tastes).
I'm not really as open minded about music as I once was (see earlier post of mine), but like Guido wrote, I know what I like and what I don't like!!  Like you, I'm willing to give anything a fair shot, but don't be surprised if my opinion is it's shit as "they" don't make what I like anymore in great abundance lol
Unlike a comment made by someone we all love once made, I don't feel like Heavy Metal is dead, but you really have to dig deep to find it...

Okay folks, getting into it with someone who was BORN during the Bristish Steel / POE era doesn't hold as much weight as would an opinion of someone who were in their teens, growing up while it was fresh and new to the world, and the era leading up to it.  It's all a history lesson to them...not to say one can't learn and understand that time period, but it's not the same as living it.  I personally have a lot of respect for what Joe brings the table here at JP.com, though he doesn't ask for it, there are some of us who are more than the casual fan, and we know shit for what it is, shit!!  One thing I will agree with is that the last couple of generations have been spoon fed a lot of shit music, so I can hardly blame the younger generation for not having the appreciation for quality music as most of us do, It's not entirely their fault...but they shouldn't throw stones either!!

The Rock & Roll Hall of Fame, Rolling Stone Magazine, and the Grammy's are ALL controlled by the same snuty, ingorant, close minded, conceited people.

They think there musical tastes and likings are "elite" and above everyone else because THEY like it. That doesn't mean its good if Rolling Stone likes something. Notice how they slag EVERYTHING that IS good? I mean come on. Seriously. There music CRITICS and JOURNALISTS, they're obsessed with their own opinions because somebody reads it.

The Mars Volta might be good technically as musicians, but that Tetragrammaton song is fucking HORRIBLE, its just NOISE.
I don't care HOW good you are, if you can't write a song that actually sounds like a song, don't write music.

I'll never understand these modern rock bands. Its all just mindless power chord strumming nowadays with WHINNY lyrics that aren't even cool, there boarder line emo. Why play When You Were Young when you can play Fight Fire With Fire?

#1 Its better technically.
#2 Its Funner.
#3 Its not fucking whinning, its badass.

Maybe thats why everyone nowdays are such fucking retards, the media is shoveling literally shit down our throats and labeling it as acceptable musical talent.
[guidogodoy] Sunday, October 25, 2009 10:10:59 AM
HAAAA!!!!!! No, it must be that you are just so learned and complex in expression that I have such a hard time understanding you and why we all think your band is a piece of crap. Let's see, insulted a couple of members and admonished a couple of more for their comments by my count. Nary a word about Judas Priest. Oh, you'll make a LOT of friends here, I can already tell.
I wonder, did you construct the soapbox from which you preach or just buy it at Walmart?  You're just bored, it is ok...

I actually really like this over Tetregrammaton. At least THIS has a beat and you can tell what the fuck is going on because there's not 25 people playing solos on different instruments,

To what "generation" do you refer?!? Mine? The majority that you openly admitted were older than you when we first started this convo? Joe's - someone you think to be night and day different from your "generation?"

The song is called "TetragrammAton," by the way. Know what it means? I would guess you'd have to look it up as you never did answer my question as to whether you spoke any other languages. You barely control your own.

You are on the wrong website. Go to their fanboy site, I say. That singer is freaking HORRIBLE. Singing high does not equal singing well.   [Show/Hide Quoted Message] (Quoting Message by Goliath29 from Saturday, October 24, 2009 5:05:54 PM)

Check out the song Tetragrammton by The Mars Volta. It's one of their best I believe. Alot of their songs are definetly all over the place. But they have many masterpieces that most people aren't aware of.  They are before their time after all. Sad indeed that we scarf down whatever they tell us is popular in this generation. So many good bands go unnoticed and or mocked and made fun of simply because it doesn't sound like all the rest of the garbage out there.
