Heh...wishful thinking on my part. 21 KM is a half...what I ran.
I don't think I'd be griping if I did a full in just over 2 hrs. LOL! I'd be signing up for the Olympics. [Show/Hide Quoted Message](Quoting Message by Becks from Friday, July 30, 2010 3:09:24 PM)

Tough call, actually. They map it off in KM. 40 in 2hrs 13mins (vs my normal 13.1 miles in 2:04). NOTHING like an American pro run. There it is really funny. Water stations pop up whenever they want and we were 32+C. FREAKIN' HOT!

One of our stops will be in San Marcos at a place called Salt Lick. Those of you familiar with the show Man vs. Food might recognize the place!! lol
I'm really excited about this folks, a HUGE change and a brand spanking new chapter in our lives!!
We'll be sure to take many pics as usual as it wouldn't be fair to considering 'IT' all started here ; )
Don't know if we'll get on the Board here during the trip. If not, we'll see ya'll on the other side...bye!!

Well, despite having bought them for years in microbreweries, I learned a bit of new info on them second to last ski trip in Park City, Utah.
Indeed, it is a 1/2 gallon bottle. Usually brown with a screw-on top. You buy one and you can refill the bottle on the cheap. Many vacuum-seal the cap on with a plastic coating using some form of heat to preserve it longer.
Well, in Park City, the old man sends me out to refill the growler while he sits back watching tv and ordering delivery food. I mention this to the guy at the bar (DAMN cold) and he laughs saying that the word "growler" evolved from fathers sending their sons out to buy them beer. GROWLING at them. LOL!!!
Not sure if this is true or not but the unit and process has been around for centuries. [Show/Hide Quoted Message](Quoting Message by spapad from Saturday, May 15, 2010 6:58:59 PM)

What I like about them is that the beer is always tasty and hits you like a sledgehammer. There's nothing worse than drinking five or six beers and not even feeling a buzz.

We have many Micro brews here in the states, and if you ever get a chance to test a "Dixie Blackened Voodoo" it's like a sweeter version of Harps and I don't normally like sweet, but it's good. I love it. Could be because I olnly see it about once every five years, but I would recommend trying one.

It's just a little crazy, to wait that long. When I was there we were staying with friends, and called the bar and put in the order before we got there. Any bar that doesn't do fast beer doesn't get my patronage. I was at this Dutch bar once and he handed me the beer half beer half head. He was pretty upset when I made him fill it to the top and then skulled it back. The only beer I wait for is Guinness. And that only takes a few minutes. It's just a little crazy, to wait that long. When I was there we were staying with friends, and called the bar and put in the order before we got there. I was within walking distance and they patrons were well known, but still, you had to order another after you ordered the first. If you asked the barkeep to tip the glass he was insulted. LOL You know us Americans, fast food, fast beer, we hate to wait. LOL! Could not really tell that it tasted that much better for the wait.
I did like the wine sellers places. Old underground war bunkers, perfect for holding wine at the ideal temp. Had a great day there. The old bunker was also warmer than the outside temp at the time so I was glad to be out of the cold. (Quoting Message by jimmyjames from Saturday, May 15, 2010 6:15:33 PM)

Great beer in Germany. I used to live near the Denmark / Germany border. Used to go down to Germany all the time for beers. Never been to Berlin though. That will be awesome. Check out what bands are playing while you are there. Should be some good stuff happening.

Fresh from my 4 day trip to Detroit, I'm very happy to be home!! Nothing against Courtyard Marriott, it's not the Renissance!!
What I will in fact miss is visiting MGM Grand and Greektown casinos (they'll miss me too!!) : ) Pappy's Bar and the Monroe Steakhouse. Though I can never remember the name of it, there's a pizzeria directly across from the casino that I make it a point to go to each and every visit as it is one of my all-time faves!!
Oh, how dare I forget the People Mover!!
