Well maybe not to you no but fans of the album would probably disagree with you. I love every Priest album and they were definately the ones that set the benchmark for metal, i even see the good in Turbo 'Locked In' is one of my favourite all time Priest tracks and so is 'Out in the Cold' in fact i like the whole first half aof the album plus Wreckless. Rather than pick faults with albums which just ruins things, i find the good in all albums and that way i can enjoy whatever i'm listening to and not be disappointed. It's a shame more people here can't think it the same way. Besides sometimes it's the small things that make albums great i bet critics don't go wow, the chorus in 'Future of Mankind' is one of the best that Priest have ever written or wow the guitar playing in 'Nostradamus' (the track) is some of the best they have ever done or wow Halford gives one of the best performances of his entire career on 'Exiled' or wow 'Persecution' is a real heavy mo fo featuring yet again an awesome chorus, or yet wow 'Death' is one of the most evil and atmospheric tracks they have ever written or wow 'Alone' is one of, if not the best ballad they have ever written besides Angel!
Rather than finding the gems in something they just brush it off and go bah what a disapointment and i tell you, i bet Priest feel let down by that too cause they poured their heart and soul into that album even if some of the tracks weren't up to 'heavy metal standards'. It doesn't make it bad music that's all i'm saying. [Show/Hide Quoted Message](Quoting Message by Skybreaker from Wednesday, October 14, 2009 10:30:09 AM)

I obviously pick out my favourites but Hell i genuinely enjoy it. Drums/production could have been more creative/better and some of the lyrics but for the most part they rocked hard. I just thought it was well though out, the emotion and feeling that came out through some of the tracks were overwhelming and i salute them for putting this together. It showed a different side to them that only comes out in tracks from their earliest albums. I think possibly the best allround track would have to be Alone that is a true Priest ballad and classic in my opinion. Nostradamus and Persecution are the heavy ass tracks which i love above many of their well known hits. But still i would like to see a return to good old British Steel! Something with relentless double bass, Strumming heavy riffs with harmonics and thunderous Halford screams although i fear they may be few and far between but still. Give us some good old prime British metal! As for winter songs i will not judge further until i hear the whole album. If the music is good it will get my vote despite the topic.

I have been waiting for the boys to drop the EMG pickups. And go back to the Marshall JCM800. Give us heads some molten metal. That killer tone. That is the sound that conquered. Unleashed in the East.

From what I can tell, people that do not like Christmas / Christmas music are the ones upset by this album. Music is very personal and we all feel differently about songs because music has the power to take you back in time. I've always loved Christmas and Christmas carols so I'm excited to listen to what Rob has done with those old standards. But for those that don't like those songs in the first place, I can understand your not liking the album. I can see how someone that doesn't like Christmas in the first place would see this as a Stryper type of album, minus the spandex and big hair....*ugh* - at least that's what I'm getting reading the posts. I'm sorry that some fans will hate this album, but I'll be decorating and baking listening to this album all season long I'm sure. This just shows me that Rob can do ANYTHING! He just absolutely AMAZES me.

You pertty much said it all with that post. I'm not as big a fan of Angel of Retribution like you are but it kind of looks lite that was the classic metal cd they felt they had to do after Rob came back. And now that its out of the way they want to this boaring Nostradamus metal. That cd is just boaring to listen to. I go back and listen to Screaming for Vengeance and it wipes the floor with Nostradamus big time!
"Pestilence and Plague" has to be one of the worst songs they have ever recorded.
Yes you are correct Skybreaker, they are going "backwards". Its just that people can't see it like we are seeeing this. One might ask the question: Are they getting "soft" on us?
And to answer JT's question: Yes I really do think that they would put another experimental album out regardless of any negative reviews on Nostradamus you bet. This is the
band that is a box of chocolates remember? Ya never know what your going to get!!! lol!!
Compared to band's albums of the last 5 years like Motorhead's Inferno,Kiss Of Death and Motorizer(2004-2008)and Saxon's Lionheart,The Inner Sanctum and Into The Labyrinth-
-(2004-2009) they are leaps and bounds better than Nostradamus and Winter Songs by far. And JT mentioned some of the heavier tracks on Nostradamus but they are not that
"quality" of songs to me even though they are heavyish.............they quality of these songs are nowhere near the charts of a song as good as Demonizer,Judas Rising,Hellrider or
Deal With The Devil,Whells Of Fire, not even close in my books.
Hellrider is the one to turn to for faith of this next record cause I've lost mine "again". ("SIGH"). I'm NOT looking forwards to the next Judas Priest album because with them....I don't
know "what" I will be getting,a heavy metal album or an experimental watered down "try something new" record? I don't want to get my hopes up just to be let down by another album
that Ken and the guys wanted to "do something different" with. And I know its something they have always done so don't go there(lol!)as they experimented with half of point of Entry
with weak tracks like "Don't Go,You Say Yes,All The Way,Trouble Shooter" and then the shit Turbo album,Ram It Down was experimental with weak tracks like Love Zone,I'm A Rocker
Love You To Death, and then the Demolition album that was terrible,Nostradamus and now Winter Songs? These are not christmas carols, these are religious christian hymns!!!!
This band should be focusing on making normal heavy metal instead of trying to push the bounderies of heavy metal and coming up short every time they try. Its getting "old".
I wouldn't be suprised at all if they came up with something even more outlandish than Nostradamus and Winter Songs put together! Is this band coming to its end?

It's a real shame that you don't cause you're missing out on a lot of music and i aint just on about metal either whether to do with Priest or not. Anyways more to the point it doesn't spell disaster to Priest because Christmas only comes but once year. Plus Halford said himself he feels it will be a strong heavy metal release. Priest have ever gone soft despite your views on Nostradamus their are some awesome heavy tracks on there, Prophecy, Death, Persecution, Visions, Nostradamus and Future of Mankind are all true Prest the others are contraversial i'll give you that but they always keep some elements there, After hearing a rather large amount of bad reviews of Nostradamus do you really think they will put out something that might further damage the bands reputation as a whole? I certainly don't. Halford can do what he likes on his own as far as i'm concerned, as long as Priest are still there to deliver the goods and i'm sure that is what we will be getting. They can't ignore fan requests but i still hope they do something new and fresh. [Show/Hide Quoted Message](Quoting Message by J.D. DIAMOND from Monday, October 12, 2009 4:52:39 PM)

Relax, was joking about the christmas albums from Slayer and Megadeth. Can't believe you don't like South Of Heaven actually. I reckon it's a great album, Seasons In The Abyss is awesome too I think. You summed up Get In The Spirit perfectly, what a load of bullshit. Take some average metal by numbers tune that you're too lazy to write lyrics for and then put the words to some stupid christmas carol over the top, and there you have it. Winter Songs. FUCKING LAME!!! If Halford considers it anything other than a cash in on christmas he should hold back it's release until April. If the album can stand on it's own then i'll take my words back.

What? You really think that Angel Of Retribution was not that good? WTF? LOL! Oh my god Painkiller is a good album man but it doesn't wipe the floor up with it,no way.
And you only mention Judas Rising and Demonizer? You don't even mention "Hellrider" which has to be in the top 5 best songs from Judas Priest of all time!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Judas Rising
Deal With The Devil
Revolution
Worth Fighting For
Demonizer
Wheels Of Fire
Angel
Hellrider
Eulegy
The only less quality track on here is Lochness but the first 9 tracks are fabulous!!! Revolution sounds like it could of been on Hell Bent For Leather right after the Killing Machine track!!!
Worth Fighting For reminds me of Desert Plains and Take These Chains mixed kind of,excellent track. Angel is total classic Judas Priest as was Dreamer Deceiver off Sad Wings Of Destiny.
Angel Of Retribution is the 5th best Judas Priest album of all time in my opinion, only Sad Wings Of Destiny,British Steel,Screaming For Vengeance, and Painkiller are better than this record!!!!
And I see where Jimmy James is coming from, the usual metal fan wants "metal" especially from the "metal god"....not "christmas songs". I don't think he really bashed Halford as he was just
frustrated with Rob's decision with Winter Songs. It is what it is...I just hope that the nest Priest record doesn't get infected by this!!!! (Quoting Message by Skybreaker from Wednesday, October 07, 2009 8:45:42 PM)

I do agree with everything else you have said here. I "hate it" when they try and "push metal into unfamiliar territories". Why can't they just push traditional metal.

Judas Priest has to be one of the most unpredictable heavy metal bands of all time. Thats good up to a certian point until they go too far with something like Nostradamus and Christmas songs. In my opinon they have released some very disapointing cd's. They are not very consistant and you have to waite forever between cd's. At one time I considered Priest the greatest metal band of all time but I'm not convinced of that any more. Painkiller was the last great Priest CD. Can they do it again with this next cd and regain their status as the best of all time or continue on with this pushing metal forward business and release another disapointing cd.

I don't mind saying so because I am on a heavy metal forum, and I don't think "heavy metal" and "christianity" go hand in hand, not at all. The Wall was a Masterpiece! Here's one of my fav's.
Oh, bite your tongue. I was with you until the Wall. Greatest concept album EVER (and my only self given tat via switchblade in Spain). For shame. You know I am an animation freak. One of the greatest of all time not to mention the fantastic tune. Love the movie version over the CD / LP version.

Maybe throw in a little opera here and there.......Hahahahah!!!
